so i have a toshiba l655... does this message mean my pc overheats? i opened up my laptop, cleaned it out (noticed a lot of dust), the fan still looks good, put the laptop back together, but i still get the message when i browse and stuff... but i also notice the fan doesnt blow as well (it does at times, but not all the time)... i also use a cooling pad to help it...but im thinking the fan is the culprit... should i replace the fan? if not, what else could it be if you had/seen this problem as well?

install speedfan and check what types of temperatures your cpu/gpu are hitting. Google how hot they should get and that'll give you a better idea.

eh can't seem to find any heating info online for it, but 50 degrees celsius really doesn't seem that high (my i7 will get up to 85, though they do run hotter than most others).

I'd probably go the full windows re-install and see where things stand after that.

repole you seem to know alot about computers... what are your thoughts on the Samsung Series 7 gamer.... I've been looking to upgrade my laptop for quite some time and I really want a gaming one... It retails for $1,900 and everything I've read says the power it packs is great for the price... i've seen it drop to like $1,700 on Amazon already, what do you think?

Seems pretty powerful in general, the specs are certainly solid, really just depends on how much you're willing to spend.
I will say that waiting for black Friday to purchase a laptop is usually a good idea. slickdeals.net tends to have lots of quality laptop deals up and running around that time, though I don't know that I often see really elite level stuff there. The last laptop I bought off slickdeals had an i7 and an ati radeon hd5730 for $700 bucks a few years ago. Obviously for a few hundred more you should be able to get a higher level graphics card.
I've always sort of stayed away from buying laptops with truly top tier graphics chips just because they become obsolete so quickly. I tend to prefer buying a $1000 or less that will play almost any game at high specs as opposed to a $2000 laptop that can handle Crysis 2 (or whatever the current benchmark game is) at 60 fps on ultra settings. But that's just personal preference.

I've read this laptop can be upgraded though... so if ever needed I can always upgrade the graphics card or what not in the future.... i might wait around a week or two more see if it drops to $1600 or so... I mean if I buy an Apple laptop I'm looking at $2,000 anywyas but im not a fan of apple at all

never going to get good bang for your buck with apple. The build quality is nice, but if you're looking for pure power, meh.
Upgradable is a huge plus if that's the case for that Samsung. My graphics chip died and now my laptop is pretty much useless.

Have you had a 17 inch laptop before btw? I know some people who complain about it ending up feeling too clunky for them. Again, entirely personal preference.

yeah i dont care for portability really.... so i dont care for the clukiness... I know I could just build my own desktop too for half the price but yeah im not a desktop guy at all.
All the reviews on Amazon and on other sites seem to be really positive so I might bite soon... my laptop is from 2009 anyways so it's about time i upgrade.
I can't wait to play games like DayZ lol
