We have a great gm. We don't need to relinquish anything to Phil. LOL @ the idea of missing games with a brand new team, just stupid fucking shit.

true, but that's only cause every aspect of your basketball brain trust is garbage. Its actually much improved. Still have a long way to go and its possible the Mark Jackson hiring was a mistake. They took a risk with Bogut, but you cant get someone like Bogut unless you take a risk. If he gets healthy our team is solid.

I can understand him wanting to GM.
It is about his legacy.
He has nothing to prove as a coach.
Pat Riley is known as a great coach. He is also known for building the Big Three. Red Auerbach is known as a great coach. He is also known for trading Joe Barry Carroll for both McHale+Parish.
Maybe Phil wants to accomplish something along those lines to really cement his legacy as a brilliant basketball mind. Maybe he doesn't feel the need to come out of retirement if he does not get that opportunity.

He tried to become the GM of the Trailblazers with Rambis as coach a few months back. Blazers decided against it.

That isn't the case here, he just thought he had all the leverage for some reason. What do you have to accomplish to have that leverage? The guy has won 11 rings as a coach. He is known as the greatest in managing superstar personalities. And that is what this team needed. The Lakers are losing more by not hiring Phil than Phil is by not taking the Lakers job.

lol @ the Warriors becoming a "solid team" all based on Bogut's health.
You know your team is in a sad state of affairs if you being solid is based on someone like Andrew Bogut...

Bogut is a solid center when healthy. He isnt, and he probably wont ever be but it was probably worth the risk. I love Monta and I miss him but having Klay and Curry together is better.
To say Bogut wasnt a solid defensive rebounding big or a top 10 center is ridiculous. In his prime he was damn good.

Top 10 Center mostly because the Center position is so weak in the NBA.

Top 10 Center mostly because the Center position is so weak in the NBA. Ya, but its all relative. And top 10 is twice as good as anything from 20-29.
