It's the Lounge! With CC!
1. Welcome to the lounge, CC. Your team enjoyed great regular season success last season and are winning at a similar rate this year. Can this team win in the playoffs or do you have to make some more trades to make yourself the prohibited Western Conference favorite?
I think we can win in the playoffs... to me, playoffs is all about matchups and i think we match up well with any team in the west. Ofcourse star power will improve your chances to getting to the finals for a chance to win and it's obvious we don't have that right now...however, I think our depth makes up for that and I would consider our team highly underated... I guess Billups would be close to being a "star" but the guys around him are very good complimentary players who we really have to depend on to win in the playoffs...and they prove that last year in the conference finals although we fell short.. But we believe we can get to the finals with the right dc and the right moves going forward. We do feel like we are a trade away to be a strong contender in the west but there hasn't been anything imminent going on lately, so we have no choice but to stick with the group of guys we have now and try to be more successful than last year... Hopefully we can reach the conference finals again and beat whoever we meet to advance to the finals. It's gonna be tough than last year considering other teams got better, but we are gonna grind in out and be the best team we can be.
2. The Pistons are 24-4 and the Celtics are 25-7, yet the consensus is that the Celtics are by far the team to beat. Do you think the Pistons could beat in the Celtics in a seven game series?
I just seen the Pistons acquire Ben Wallace from Phoenix and I do believe they have a better shot against Boston, assuming both meet in the Playoffs... Boston is no doubt the best team in the league because of their frontcourt, but Detroit will give them matchup problems with Dirk at the 3, Big Ben battling up front with shaq-duncan, and Redd giving them problems on the perimeter, although I expect Artest to defend him throughout the series or probably against Dirk (one of redd or dirk will go off since artest can cover one)...I think Detroit will have enough weapons to beat out Boston, as long Big Ben and whoever else doesn't allow the twin towers to go off and the Piston scorers light it up outside.
3. If you were Aar, what would you do? The Hornets have gotten off to an awful start.
If I were Aar, I would just keep focusing on tanking in hopes to land CP3 or another stud... That's pretty much all I can do at this point... Sure the past hurts because I traded Shaq and drafted Biedrins, but I would never look back or complain about anything that happened because it will only haunt me going forward... I'm gonna keep tanking for 1-2 more studs until I'm ready to win in my CY... Aar prove this in the past and I think the Hornets will do just fine, as long they don't draft any more busts from here on out.
4. Who won the Ray Allen/KG trade and why?
I really like the trade for Sacramento...considering KG is a stud big and bigs >>> smalls... Sure Portland got a good deal as well, and they can move Ray Ray for more picks...but this was a greater move for the Kings... You look at the Celtics and you ask yourself you need bigs to win in this league, and that is pretty much jiggy's thinking when he made the trade... Now he needs to surround KG with better talent to compete in the West... A PG upgrade would be nice.
5. Should Spence fire Outlawz? Why or why not?
Isn't Spence considering firing Outlawz? Not sure why it hasn't happen yet but it might be best for the league to find a better replacement... Lawz is obviously a great GM when he's active but it seems like he's disinterested and more busy than before... And what's more discouraging is that he doesn't post a new dc after a trade and that pisses off Spence... I think it's only a matter of time before Spence hires a new GM...Lawz is definitely on the hot seat right now... Wouldn't surprise me if he's replaced in the next 24 hours...
6. The Timberwolves, Warriors, and Suns continue to remain the West's top 3 teams. Who will have the most finals apperances of the three five years from now?
It's really hard to say... I obviously would love to say me but I really think the Suns will have more finals appearances in 3-5 years from now... Suns already have one finals appearance and I think they will continue to get a couple more... Skillz is the type of GM who tries to win every year, no matter how much picks they trade...For me, I try to win in a 3-4 year window, and if I don't, I tank and rebuild then compete again... But Skillz gming is different...he goes out and win every year with no picks... I see the Suns becoming a similar team like the Knicks in BBS4.
7. Svedda offers you Marbury for Billups. Do you take it? Why/Why not?
Really don't see a point making a PG swap like that... Marbs is a nice player, but I prefer Billups because he fits my offense better and he isn't a huge TO whore like Marbs... Didn't Svedda add points to Marbs handling? Billups handles are more natural and didn't need points..and his rebounding is a tad bit higher... Also not a really big fan of Marbs irl and I prefer having CB's game than his.
8. Ray Allen or Tyson Chandler...who would you rather build your team around?
Tyson Chandler. You need bigs to win in this league and Chandler is one of the few rare players after Shaq-Duncan to dominate in this league right now. Ray Ray is a stud scorer but I prefer Bigs > Smalls... It's much easier to build around a stud big than building around a SG imo.
9. Who is the most overrated GM in the league? Who is the most underrated?
It's only the second season and you're asking this now, lol. Probably best to wait a couple more seasons before I call anyone overrated...But if I have to choose a GM who is doing a poor job early on it would be Aar... I love your GM'ing skills but the shaq trade was mehhh and selecting Biedrins in the top 10 killed it for me...Hopefully you become the Aar of old come season 3 or 4... Most underated I would probably go with GAME.. He went from having GAME lottery 1sts in BBS4 and then turning his 1sts into studs in this version... His 1sts will no longer be lottery as long he keeps his core around for many seasons ahead...So far he has proven doubters wrong and is currently fighting for the #1 seed against my Warriors.
10. What has happened to Habes? Does he deserve to be in the league anymore?
Habes is a weird dude... sometimes he's into the league, then he's off somewhere talking about random things... I'm not sure if he fits in this league atm? I know he's tanking and all but he isn't doing anything else to show that he's an all around solid GM? Maybe write some articles, talk about your sim more often, etc. Does he deserve to stay here? I would say yes because he's a really good GM when he puts his mind into it (built a solid team in BBS4) so I know what he's capable of...I guess we gotta wait until he adds talent via drafts...Then we'll probably see Habes be active like he was in past BBS's...I think he's just bored with his team atm...but the randomness has to go... the thread he posted about me was weird....
11. Biggie's team is 16-9 yet it doesn't look like the Hawks really have enough to ever make a title run. What would you do if you were the Hawks GM?
If I were the Hawks GM, I would find a better starting frontcourt asap although it would be tough as hell... You are in the east and you look up and see who you are battling against... Dampier-Kurt Thomas vs Shaq Duncan is laughable... I'm not sure what the Hawks plan is atm... I know you're trying to compete and win, but if you ever play Boston in the Playoffs, what are you gonna do? The Hawks are far from winning a title... they need to surround Kidd with better players...Dampier-KT-SAR and whoever else won't get it done... The top of the east is just too strong... In a 7 game series against Boston or even Detroit, your chances are slim...I just don't see you getting by Detroit or Boston to make the finals... let's be real here...I know you have Kidd but the rest will continually get exposed in the playoffs if you don't make any major changes... Maybe it's best to tank, if you have your picks.. If not, your Hawks will get kicked out in the Playoffs year after year... It seems like the Hawks are just making the playoffs just to make the playoffs...Give Jason Kidd some help before he declines.
12. Better course during a creation draft: trade for picks and build for the future or try to win right away?
I like winning right away... trading picks to build for the future might be worth in the end, but in a creation draft, it's more fun and competitive to start winning as soon as season 1 starts... waiting until you tank for studs every other two weeks is just boring to me, especially when the league just started not long ago... I know there are those saying, "but CC, you are a tanker yourself!" LOL in a sense that is true but I don't tank until later on...in a creation draft I prefer to win asap and that's why I chose that direction to begin with... I didn't want to be bored for the next month or so, waiting until the lottery. Just not fun...You look at AAr's situation, he tanked for biedrins... and it took like a week and a half to find out you tanked for a bust all along? LOL... I can't imagine how that feeling would be like if I were in his shoes.
13. Do you agree with the five-picks in the future rule? Why/why not? Do you think this hurts GM's like Habes and Skillz or helps them?
I love the new rule... There won't be a new Kobe in this league....Trading future picks in BBS4 was just a mess...and it was one of the reasons why spence decided to restart... The new rule is great because it provides more balance in the league than in the past... and it's much easier on spencer... With the 5 pick rule, every team is symmetric when it comes to dealing picks. Does it hurt GM's like Habes or Skillz? Not at all... I'm sure they will find other ways around it to build a contender...and so far Skillz has done that.. that said, I think it will help them going forward.
14. The Nets are 14-16. Greeme was congratulated for a great trade, acquiring Kobe and AK in a deal for Nash. We know hindsight is 20/20...was Greeme wrong in accepting this trade?
Not at all...Kobe was the best player in the deal and it was a no brainer for them...however, Nash became MVP and the deal looked iffy at the time... but that was in the short term...i think long term Kobe will end up the better player in the end... he's way younger than Nash and I think Greeme will find great value if he ever puts him on the block...Not only he received Kobe, but AK as well... Very good deal for him and it will work out in the end...Greeme just needs to find another PG and a starting frontcourt to match up with the elite teams in the east.
15. Is CC a top 10 GM?
Personally I feel I am a top 10 GM. My goal is to win a title in this league...like I did in BBS 3 and 4... I'm not leaving this version without a title... My mindset is to compete for a title no matter what. My plan is all about winning ,whether it's having a team without stars, or having to tank to build up talent to be able to get to that next step... my goal at the end of the tunnel is to have gold on my finger and i don't care how many seasons it will take...I have a winning mindset and I do participate on the board every single day... I think those two things makes a solid all around GM.... If I'm not top 10, hell, I'd be fine being top 15-20. With that said, the next article should be a GM Rankings. Someone should post that shit!
