Q & A with RBX

1) You made some moves this offseason to get younger, picking up Boo Harkless and Long Kim. Which one will be the better player? Who is getting this ac? Also, even though Kim looks much better than I thought don't you think that you could have gotten more for Lillard?
Kim is the prize of my offseason. Boo is coming off a tough year at college and he thought it was gonna get better in the league, but there will be some growing pains. That's life for a young PG. They each have a lot of growing. I trust potential to help the PG much more than the PF, and notes specifically told me that his strength must be fixed, so this freebie was a no-brainer. Had to go straight to his strength. I'm not going to trade Lillard for him and then neglect him.
I didn't like Kim coming in but he looks great so far. I wasn't sure about Boo and I'm still not. Wouldn't be shocked to see him explode next year but wouldn't be shocked to see him as a 4 and out player. I still think that RBX could have gotten significantly more for Lillard.
2) Looking back on the draft, it seems that some players should have gone much higher/lower than their original positions. Redraft the top 5.
#1 Jean Jean-Louis
It's a tough call, but I said this before. I'm in love with JJL. His potential made him look even nicer after TC. John said he simmed 7 seasons down the road and someone had A- A- A A and I believe it is the Frenchie. I think you were wrong when you wrote him off as a Bouche clone
#2 Jewel Lyons
His only red flag is the inside, but he even improved that in TC, so I will keep him at 2. That elite handling sure is helping him take off quick. Already a great scorer, I don't really know if his inside really even needs to improve.
#3 Kip Fawley
His notes said what he is, and he us exactly that. Elite rebounder and shotblocker. Easy pick. Not many sure thing big men like this happen.
#4 Andy Coon
His TC didn't show much promise and his numbers on a losing squad that desperately needs him to help aren't really incredible either. He's still in the to 5 based on hype and the fact that he still is a 20 ppg guy.
#5 Long Kim
Nobody else in this draft really catches my eye. Kim still is all potential, but between the +10 strength and TC, he's gone +7 already. I'll continue feeding his muscle and assume a great player will come out of it. His preseason stats say he's still extremely raw. Rebounding needs help too.
I don't think that JJL is nearly as good as RBX thinks. Jewel is by far the gem of the class.
3) What is up with Play? He has a ton of youth and he is doing nothing with it except tank. Is he bored? Washed up? That time of the month?
It always seems like it's Play's time of the month. He's so hot/cold on leagues. He'll be MIA for two weeks then spend two days doing nothing but talking shit and criticizing every GM for activity or their inferior skills in every aspect of life. Play won a ship in UOSL and thinks he's hot shit. It looks like he's just playing BBS, like a bitch and not taking any risks, just tanking his ass off until he has ten former top tens and wins a title by default.
I think he is bored bc he started off with Bazz, Davis and Parsons so whatever he does gms will say it is bc of what he started with. He should take over the Pacers, that would be a challenge.
4) Suns started off 4-13. I cringe when I look at their roster but that is what Skillz's teams usually look like. Can he turn it around?
I can't begin to wrap my head around that team. No rebounding, no shot blockers, no chance at anything. It's even crazier when you realize Lai Fang is a 2nd year 2nd rounder and he is by far their best player. It's just incredible to me how bad a team could be. He's lucky to have won 4 so far. My team looks like it could win more games than his. Good luck to that guy, he needs it. Rebuild isn't even the word. There's nothing to tear down before building it back up.
Still has guys that should have value like Cunningham and LMA. Assuming he has his pick he should get some futures and start over.
5) Last year you picked at 12 and took KDH. Tight after him 2 more sgs were picked, Colliton and Cummings. Any regrets about your pick?
KDH is a 60/30 potential man!!! Of course I don't regret getting that guy at 12. Anyways, I didn't pick him, Bundy was still the GM during the draft. I didn't get hired until after FA day 1. I still don't really care for Colliton, he's already fallen in the shadows imo. Colliton isn't as good at creating his own shots I guess. Cummins has had two nice TCs, but I would still rather have my guy, he's got a lot of value as a 2nd year guy who is capable of being a #1 option.
Idk, at this point I might actually take Cummins first out of the three of them. Kdh has to problems and Colliton probably shouldn't start if he isn't the 1st option.
6) last year Greeme was bashed after this trade - bbsfive.proboards.com/thread/5370/blazers-kings. Did you have any idea that at the end of the day that trade would be the impetus for Greeme coming one game short of a ring? Is the trade proof that a lot of times gms bash trades but in point of fact you can't judge a trade fairly until 1-2 years later?
I'll give it to ya. You really turned a bunch of shit into a tough team quickly. Add into the fact that your team is 14-2 now and the likely favorites for the ship this year, and yeah I can say the haters were wrong. It's a good thing they fueled your flame. Anyways, it really seems to happen pretty often, and especially when picks are involved, that the immediate consensus regarding the winner and loser of the trade turns out to be obviously incorrect even as soon as the next season. When your picks look good and you're able to make a few good trades and add good talent, it can really foil someone elses plans. Hour you're happy with everything i said. Good gming. Now go let Play beat you in the WCF
Greeme is by far my favorite gm.
6) I had three picks in the second round and seem to have gone 0 for 3. TBH I haven't even noticed a second round sleeper from the last draft. Is there one out there hiding? What do you think of second round stars in general?
I never really pay attention to the 2nd round. If there's a sleeper, I can't kid myself that I'm going to figure it out. The only thing I could figure out is guys like Fang, who are obvious studs somewhere but have equally obvious deficiencies that quickly devalue them.
8) What do you think of the new gms wontonsoup and donkey so far?
I have never heard of then outside this league and neither has really made much noise so far. I think each of them had shot a couple PMs back and forth to me, so I can at least tell you they're active and willing to discuss trade. Anything else, I don't have much of an opinion on just yet.
They haven't done anything stupid so far which is a plus. Too many guys come in and trade away all their talent for peanuts. You know who you are.
9) I'm sick of reading about who the best gms are; who are the bottom 3 and why?
This isn't even a cool question! I've only been here a season, i don't know a lot of the guys. But i do suppose Play would have to assume one of those positions. And judging by teams, Skillz and Mustajab look pretty bad. Nothing personal towards them, but the Suns are a dirty mess, and the Cavs aren't much better. I don't think Coon was the pick for them. They probably could have taken Lyons or Fawley. Either one would be able to party a greater role than Coon, who is basically just Taylor DeBernardi minus boards right now.
Wonder what Skillz and Play will have to say about this answer.
10) Besides kdh, kim and boo are you planwning on keeping anybody from your current team?
Nope, nobody. In reality, KDH and Boo could go in the right deal. Kim is the only guy I'm truly invested in. KDH would still require I take back a nice, youthful haul that I can tank with.
11) What is more surprising; the Hornets being out of the playoffs or the Blazers 14-2 start?
Definitely the Hornets playing so poorly. McMinn isn't doing well, but the rest of the tean loss incredible. I think McMinn and his 13 PPG and the fact that he's too scared to take his own shots makes him a cancer. You can't have Acy moved down for a guy like McKissisk who is producing so well and not do as well as last season. I'm puzzled. Your ten is doing better than expected, but considering the way Lyons is playing, we should have expected the Blazers to at least be a top two team in the west.
The hornets have a +7 point diff and have played only 4 games at home so far so it is safe to say that we will see them in the playoffs. The Blazers will obviously come down to earth, though they will still be one of the top teams in the west.
12) Build a dc out of free agents. Could they make the playoffs?
Literally don't know what to give you for 12
note to myself, never send RBX questions again. Lol at being too lazy to answer this.
