How would you grade your teams offseason? Who had the best TC on your team?
Honestly, I didn't do much of anything. I've been fairly busy lately so I haven't had a ton of time. Plus, I really didn't get any offers I loved. So, what type of grade? C+. I can't really give myself anything higher then that. The LMA acquisition so big for us definitely though. I mean, apparently I lost that trade value wise but whatever. When I look at the numbers he's currently putting up, how can I be upset at what I gave up? Plus, with 2 other teams in their CY, I had to make sure I landed him.
You just dealt Jamaal Franklin, Bastien Bouche and a first for Jeremy Lin, what was your reason for doing this deal?
Mostly because I needed a PG. As much as I liked McCoy when I drafted him, he's fairly inconsistent and turnover prone. Lin also is a far better defender. Franklin is also turnover prone and I can't use him right. My biggest reason for liking Franklin is his D and while I can't replace the block at SF, I think Balkman can give me help there. Another reason is, well, I'm a Knicks fan and getting Lin just made sense for me there. That said, I also wanted to see how good LMA is because Lin sucks so bad or something. I don;t know.
How confident are you that you will reset your contract this year and survive your CY? What are some holes you still need to fill?
I'd like a shot blocking back up big. Maybe an upgrade at back up SF/SG over Balkman, That aside, I'm confident that we will make it without any real problems. I do feel we have enough depth to overcome any injuries. My biggest worry, obviously, is an injury to LMA. I think we'd be fucked if that happened. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself there lol. Yeah, that aside though, I feel like we'll be fine. I think we'll be somewhere between 5-7.
If you do renew your contract, what is your plan the next few seasons?
Put more talent around LMA. The rest of my core is fairly young and I still have assets to move. Another good TC by Page/Haynes and who knows what I can move them for. I'm going to be patient but at the same time, keep things open. I don't want to just make moves to make moves. Would make no sense.
Do you think the Blazers and Wizards will renew their contracts?
I think the Blazers will. They are in the West so there's no reason for them not to. Plus, their team isn't as bad as people are making it out to be. I feel like there's a shit load of dick sucking going on in this league. Someone says something and the sheep fallow. The flavor of the day is to put down Marty. Whatever. As far as Washington, they need to do something to secure things. I don't care what he feels about his tea. His "playoff spot" isn't secure. As is, he isn't even fighting for a spot. If he can land a stud like Rose, he should do it ASAP.
Which team do you think had the best offseason this year? Why do you think so?
I mean, it's hard not to give it to the Suns. They got free assets out of the Rose signings. I didn't like the Rose deal but skillz always gets excused for such deals so whatever. You have to like what the Bulls did, getting a stud in Butler. They are going for it all. Past that, I don't know. Nobody did a ton this off season.
Who is the favorite to win it all? Or who would you say are the top teams?
I'm going to go ahead and say ashes gets it done this year. The Bulls beat the Mavs in 6. As far as top teams, it's hard to say. The Suns have a great record and Skillz is a great GM but if I don't think they can win it all, are they really a top team? I guess regular season wise, Bulls, Mavs, Suns. That's really it. I think this year things are more balanced then in prior years. Even the 3 teams I named aren't exactly head and shoulders above everyone else.
Skillz thinks that my 2020 and 2021 1sts that he owns are valuable. Do you think my team will be bad enough to consider those picks "valuable"?
As long as you don't stay put, I think you'll be fine. It's a commonly used line but it still works. The West sucks. Eventually that has to change, I would think, but that isn't happening anytime soon it seems. Your biggest issues will come with CP3 and Dwight. Both guys will start declining ratings wise (CP3 already has) so their values will decline. You need to start finding some replacements there. I think your 20 isn't going to be great. Might have to worry about that 21 though.
I think you used this question in one of your articles, if you could take over one team other than yours which team would it be and why?
Spurs is the obvious choice. Big Poppa Pump is a beast already. Crittes looks nice as well. Those guys loaded with AC/RC's early on would be sick. Going away with the easy route, the Bucks would be it I think. It's a test. That team literally has nothing and no picks. You can't do a typical rebuild with that team. You have to make smart moves. It would be tough but it is doable.
The draft isn't up yet, but what are some suggestions you have for John for draftee names?
Hard to say. I think I'd like to see another Dirk-like player. A big that can average 30 ppg but has sub par D and rebounding. It's nothing crazy but I don't recall anyone being like that. I'm not talking about a SF that was moved to PF. I'm talking about a straight up PF. As far as creative, I don't know to be honest. I think we need more creativity up front now.
Do you think Spencer will ever be back as a GM or commish again here at BBS?
I'm going to say no. I hope he does but it's definitly difficult. He has a lot on his plate and from what I gather, whatever free time he may have he would much rather spend on his family then on us. Selfish bastard. SPEND TIME WITH US! but yeah, I understand his position. He'll have periods of time when he can post and such but GM? I don't see it.
What are your predictions for the rest of the NBA playoffs?
JR Smith will bounce back in game 5 but go back to Drunk Smith in Game 6. Pacers/Indy will be interesting but ultimaty Heat in 6. Spurs will finish off the Warriors tonight. Spurs/Grizz will go 7 with the Spurs winning a close, OT game 7. I'm going to go with a Spurs/Heat finals with the Heat winning in 6.
As far as just the Knicks go, we'll lose in 6. We don't want it enough. It's very disappointing to see the Knicks barley giving any effort out there.
