Want to go ahead and post a player or two and then add to this thread.
CENTERS
Dom Poppa C 20 7'2" 355 20 B C+ B- B- B A
Dom "Big" Poppa certainly lives up to his name. He is very strong, a good post scorer who has a nice all around game. Still thinks he can shoot a few threes, and tends to jack at least one a game. Very good passer for a big man and also a nice overall defender, nothing elite but won't be a liability on that end.
Xerxes Ford C 6'11'' 295 22 C+ C+ D C+ B B
Is a very solid role player. Won't do anything to wow you on the offensive end, although his ability to stretch the defense out to the 3PT line is impressive. Might lead PFs/Cs in steals, really has a knack for knocking the ball loose. Might be more valuable as a PF than a C due to steals. Won't turn it over much. Not much of a shot blocker. Elite post defender. Average strength and athleticism.
Ryan Longes C 6'11'' 245 18 B- C- C- B- C B
Talented inside scorer, decent strength. Mediocre jumpshot, below average handling ability for a big. Mediocre rebounder, solid post defender who should average 1-2 BPG as a rookie. Obviously still really young, could develop into a great player. Boom/bust player.
Mason Bagaric C 7'4'' 274 23 C+ C C- C+ C+ C
Will have some GMs salivating. Elite strength, jumpshot, and shotblocking. The rest of his game? Not there. Poor inside scorer, post defender, and rebounder. Not very athletic, mediocre potential. Might be worth a lotto to the right team.
Egg Barlow C 6'10'' 260 23 B C- C- C+ B- C
Eugene "Egg" Barlow is a talented, strong offensive oriented Center. Great jumpshot. Not much of a defender, mediocre everywhere. Very good defensive rebounder. Maybe develop into a fringe starter, should be a solid backup. Mediocre potential. Safe mid 1st round selection.
POWER FORWARDS
Jonathan Voyles PF 6'10" 245 21 A- C F+ C+ C+ B
Voyles is a talented scoring PF who has some major issues when it comes to handling. He has hands of stone, can't pass, can't catch, can't dribble, you name it, he struggles with it. Decently athletic, pretty quick for a big. Solid jumpshot, average rebounder. Good upside, but to take the next step he'll need to work on his handling, could well average over 3-3.5 TPG early in his career. Is it a risk? Sure, but you can definitely see the talent is there. Mediocre shot-blocker.
Henry Ellenson PF 6'10'' 270 21 C+ B+ D+ C+ B- B
Your typical player when you think of a product coming from Wisconsin. Heady, good team player. Decent post defender, excellent outside shooter for a big man, can really stretch the defense. Excellent strength, decent from scoring in the low post. Doesn't block shots but should get a fair share of steals. Above average rebounder. Probably a great role player/fringe starter type. Good player.
Adam Kestersen PF 6'10'' 240 20 B C+ C C C+ A
Excellent inside scorer who has an otherwise unimpressive game. Not a great jumpshooter, but can knock down threes. Mediocre athleticism and a below average post defender. Has good upside, has a chance into develop into a really great offensive PF, but up in the air whether he will ever be more than that.
Jack Frey PF 6'11'' 255 22 C+ C+ C- C A C
An atheltic freak who is an elite rebounder. Jump out of the gym athleticism, strong, quick for a big man. Really struggles to score inside if it isn't off of putbacks and lobs. Tends to try and think he can shoot threes. Also likes to think that he can play SF, but he can't. Really poor overall defender, takes too many chances. Ceiling is a role player off the bench as an elite rebounder likely.
Marshall Raab PF 7'1'' 200 19 C B+ D+ B C+ B
Is an intriguing big man. Elite 3PT shooter, might win a few three point contests in his career. Solid overall defender, actually is a decent perimeter defender despite his size. Eligible for a move to SF. Above average offensive rebounder. Mediocre strength and athleticism, good upside. Probably a starter on the right team.
Tegarey Barnes PF 6'9'' 240 18 B- C- C+ B C B
At 18, with his skills, Barnes should probably go in the lottery. Solide inside scorer, good jumpshot. Excellent hands for a big man. Solid post defender and shotblocker. Mediocre rebounder. Pretty good upside.
Jordan Dale Peveto PF 6'9'' 245 21 B- D+ D B C+ B
JDP has a game quite similar to Barnes, although he is older and doesn't have the same ceiling. JDP has trouble holding onto the ball, propensity to turn it over. Above average post defender, shotblocker, and has quick hands for steals. Average rebounder, good strength.
SMALL FORWARDS
Matthew Crittes SF 20 6'7" 215 20 Ole Miss B- B+ C C+ C+ A
Crittes is a possible #1 overall selection. Really solid offensive player who should snag a good amount of rebounds at the 3 position. Doesn't offer much on the defensive end, not really a great perimeter defender. Streaky jumpshooter who needs to improve his FT %. Scoring mentality is there. Not overly athletic. Good upside.
Kerem Kanter SF 6'8" 225 21 C C- C- C C D
Kanter is player that there is a lot of mystery around. The younger brother of Enes Kanter, Kerem accepted money in Turkey for living expenses while playing for a Turkish basketball club before trying to play college basketball. He was ruled ineligible due to being considered a professional in Turkey. Instead of trying his luck int he pros, he struck a deal with the NCAA in which his older brother paid the money back to a charitable organization. This made Kerem eligible for his sophomore season, but in preseason practice he tore his ACL and missed the season. Deciding to give it one more go before shucking college basketball, Kerem tried again the next season to play for the Utah squad but tore ligaments in his other knee. After this, he decided to declare eligible for the draft.
So really, Kanter is an unknown. Nobody has an idea what position he will be best at, or how his skills have progressed since being a 17 year old. Scouts have seen him participate in running/jumping/strength drills, and although he has lost most of his explosiveness of the floor, he's still deceptively quick and has good strength.
What this means is: on draft night I'll randomize all of Kanter's ratings (other than quickness/strength/jumping), including potential, using a scale of 35-90. He will also be eligible to play any position (PG through C) while remaining at SF.
Celso Lavezzolo SF 6'10'' 225 19 C+ C+ B- C+ C A
Lav is the definition of a boom/bust player. An oversized, jumbo forward from Italy, Celso has a pretty raw game. "Jack of all trades, master of none type". Mediocre at everything, might be a better inside scorer than average but that is about it. Ok rebounder, good passer for his size. Really a boom/bust type player who has a really good upside. In contention for the lotto due to age/upside.
Lou Harris SF 6'6'' 255 23 B- C+ B- C+ B C
A utility role player who is decent at everything but not great at everything. Similar game to Celso but, again, an older role player-type player. Verry good strength and a great rebounder for a SF. Mediocre defender with average athleticism.
Merle Spurgeon SF 6'8'' 210 19 B C C+ C+ B+ B
A great inside oriented SF who is a great athlete. Elite quickness for a wing, and above average explosiveness off the floor. Good jumpshhoter, doesn't take threes. Solid passer. Should average over a block per game. Solid upside and 19. Lotto? Maybe.
Sven Dorak SF 6'6'' 240 22 B- C+ C A- C+ B
Older role player type who has a solid player all four years at Duke. Above average scorer from the post, and can knock down open threes. Not a very solid passer. Good quickness, can probably defend any position on the court: above average post and perimeter defender. OK strength, decent rebounder.
SHOOTING GUARDS
Morris Toone SG 6'6'' 192 22 C B+ C+ C+ C- A
Morris is a gread jumpshooter with upside who has some holes in his game. Really poor inside scorer, doesn't like driving it all. Good handles, above average with steals and blocks, although the rest of his defense is lacking. Not much of a rebounder, great athlete. Mighr be solid in an outside offense.
Max Colella SG 6'7'' 230 22 C+ B+ B- C+ D+ B
Colella has an intriguing game. Above average athlete who is a decent 3PT shooter. Very great passer, although no chance at playing PG because he has a huge handling problem. Good defender though, uses his length to contest a variety of shots, should average 1-1.5 BPG as a SG. Kinda limited, as like I said can't play PG and rebounding would be a neagtive at SF. Should be a solid player.
Bastien Bouche SG 6'9'' 210 21 B- B- C+ C C- A
Bouche is a French product who has a really nice game. Smooth offensive player, can scorer from wherever he is on the court. Above average athlete with poor strength. Poor on the defensive end, solid handles. Has the potential to overcome his flaws and be a dangerous scorer. Might have a little boom/bust quality but he has nice starting skills.
Trevaughn Bostic SG 6'5'' 215 20 B- B C B- C- B
Bostic is sort of in the same boat is Bouche: he has a nice offensive game but is raw in a lot of other areas. Although there is a little more polish to his game (better inside scorer, above average steals), that comes with a little less potential. Above average athlete with solid handles. Should be a good player.
Quincy Person SG 6'8'' 225 22 A D D C C+ B
Elite inside scorer and athlete. 40+ inch vertical. Some scouts salivate at his possible potential due to his athleticism. But really, Person doesn't have a lot of redeeming qualities outside of his athleticism and inside scoring. Very poor shooter, has really bad form...the shot is broken. Can't hit FTs or shoot threes. He does have solid hands, both on offense and defense, but his rebounding is just average. Might be great as a backup SG/SF for someone with an inside offense.
Jaylen Steele SG 6'4'' 210 19 C+ A- C D+ D+ B
Could be considered one of the best offensive players in this draft. Injuries at high school and Michigan State have robbed some of his explosiveness getting off the floor, and he was never really very strong. He has an uncanny ability to find creases in the defense and get to the basket. Great jumpshooter and can stretch the defense out to the 3PT line. Doesn't do anything on defense though, not really interested at that end. Poor rebounder, good upside.
POINT GUARDS
Bill Gallagher PG 22 6'4" 180 22 C D B A C B
Gallagher is a troubled youth from Chicago who was set on attending Illinois until it was found that officials at this school altered his SAT answers to get a better grade. Bill ended up sitting out a year and then enrolling at Chicago State. There, he was suspended a few times his FR/SO years but was an elite player, becoming arguably the best defensive PG in the nation, with lightning quick hands and using his wingspan to swat several outside shots. His past transgressions still haunted him though, as it was discovered after his JR year he had accepted improper benefits. Many scouts believe it will do him good to get out of the area, although it is not sure how we will take being separated from his inner circle that will remain in Chicago. If he is drafted by a team in the Pacific Division he will randomly gain/lose 10 points in potential (random.org generation)
Ronan Robinson PG 5'10" 165 19 C B B B C- A
RR is your prototypical studly PG. He has a great jumpshot, solid handles and is a good passer. Lightning quick, think of someone like TJ Ford, that goes along with his frame as well, very wiry frame, really no upper body strength to speak of. He has a nice floater though, so he isn't totally lost when he drives to the basket. Should get his fair share of steals. Top 5 pick for sure, worst case scenario is a solid starting PG for a number of years.
Logan Aridge PG 6'5'' 200 20 C B+ C B+ C- C
Talented player who somehow slipped through the cracks and ended up at Tennessee State. Mediocre upside, but has a really nice game. Average passer, but good handles. More of a scoring type of PG. Solid inside scorer, but he isn't really athletic so that limits his ability. Excellent jumpshooter, but just a little above average from 3PT range. Decent defender. Should be a really good backup who may develop into a very solid starting PG with few weaknesses with good luck/ACs.
Julio Novo PG 5'3'' 145 17 C C C+ C+ D A
Small, young, and a chance to be a really good player. Those are the things to remember about Novo. Below average at everything on the offensive end currently. Not a great shooter. Mediocre handles, below average passer. Where he might show the most potential is the defensive end, as he is already an above average perimeter defender and at stealing the ball. No strength at all. There isn't a player in the draft quicker than him though, he can absolutely fly. Might be a fun player to draft and see how he develops, could be really good or really bad. Fun!
Henry Blount PG 6'3'' 207 23 C B- C+ B C C
Solid backup PG. Excellent handles might mean he ends up getting more minutes in his career than he should. Above average shooter with decent quickness. Average defender.
