1. You said this was a fairly new team and you got handed the keys to a
Ferrari, well how do you think you will be able to do once you start
making the major decisions after a couple of seasons?
Yeah I did
get lucky to re-join the league and be handed two incredible players in
their primes. Right now, my plan is just to add talent and strengthen
the supporting cast around them. I am not one of those guys who trades
just for the sake of trading but much rather see a couple of sims and
adjust accordingly when needed. Down the line I obviously will have to
look to make major shakeups, re-tool and get younger but this team is
stacked enough to the point where I am not at all worried. There really
are a lot of directions in which I can go.
2. It seems right
now your team is ready for a playoff run. Are there any deadline deals
to be made or are you afraid of messing up what you have?
I’m not
afraid of messing anything up but I really am not actively looking to
do anything major at the moment. The immediate goal is to find a way to
strengthen my bigman rotation. Getting Perkins back from injury is a
major plus but I do need to add depth there. Also do need to find ways
to add depth at other positions as well. Just need to scour the trade
blocks and jump on something which can help me.
3. With no first rounder, will you try and jump back in the draft through a trade?
It
depends mostly on my salary situation, what is available and what is
required. There are some very interesting players in this draft who are
worth taking a flier on and Spencer is known to make some nice steals so
if I do see an opportunity, it makes sense to jump on it.
4. Do you believe in the tanking philosophy?
Believe
in it? Sure it exists... It can work but it really depends on your
ability to accumulate assets. If you are relying mostly on draft
lotteries and free-agency, the odds of actually building a competitive
team is pretty low. Tanking is boring though. There are cases where a
full rebuild is the smartest strategy but it is way more fun and
interesting to just go for it.
5. You are 21-10 and in third in the Central Division. How good is the central division this year?
Prior
to trading for Cunningham and Amir, I started at 9-8 so I am confident
in the direction which this team is heading. The top of the East right
now is incredibly tough. The first seed and seventh seed are separated
by four games with five of those teams being in the Central. I do hope
to continue to climb the standings but it is just so close right now to
the point where all I can really do is find ways to improve (making
moves to strengthen my rotation whenever I can) and continue to hope
lol.
6. Give me your one player that is not a starter or
superstud but gives you valuable minutes off the bench and is your
blue-collar player just comes to work does his job and let the studs
like Durant and Cenk get the glory?
My bench is not as strong as I
would like for it to be so my options are pretty limited. The obvious
choice is Parrom. He has doing an outstanding job as my backup 1-2-3 and
probably one of the better sixth men in the league. He does not offer
anything defensively so not a guy I would rely on to start but he is an
incredibly efficient scorer and solid rebounder at the wing. My team is
not very deep so having that offense off the bench is a major plus.
7.
Have you ever been in a league like this before or are you like me
confused a little about how this league goes and the tanking and stuff
they say is needed for wins?
I was in BBSv4 for the final 7
seasons, was in this league for the first 8 seasons, had to leave due to
a busy schedule but re-joined two seasons ago. I’ve been in a lot of
sim leagues (currently am in one other and I am running my own league)
but BBS is different from any of the other leagues I have been in. And
that is what I love about it. I can understand where you are coming from
in terms of being confused about the way things go but as you get used
to it, I am sure that you would see why it is enjoyable and great. It
has a lot more rules which overall offer a much more realistic GMing
experience (there is no waivers similar to most other leagues out there
or cutbacks forcing you to strategize and make trades to improve your
team). It has a very strong, experienced and active core of GMs making
it highly competitive which is what I enjoy about it.
8. Is there a chance Perkins can become a Spur?
Lol
guessing you are just running out of questions you can think of. My big
rotation is pretty weak at the moment and I am in need of his blocks
and boards. I have still yet to see a sim with him and my current team
due to the injury which he just recovered from. You can PM me an offer
but I really don’t see anything which sticks out to be honest.
9.
You score 119 points a game but give up 112 is that because of your
style of play and does that worry you with some of the stronger
defensive teams come play-offs?
Worried? Yes and I should be. Our
defense is a major weakness. This team is fun though. I am hoping
Perkins can help improve that going forward but I do need to find ways
to add talent which can help on that side of the floor.
10. Besides Wroten you don't have a lot of youth, will we see a rebuild or just a retool of the roster?
Yeah
there isn’t much youth. Wroten is Grizzlies property (tradeback). My
old dudes are pretty good and have value so there really are a lot of
directions in which I can go. Ideally, I would like to get younger and
re-tool but right now that is not what I am actively looking to do.
11. Is Cenk even tradeable to you or Durant? I mean can a team give you such a good deal you would deal either of them?
I
don’t really see any point to trading either due to the level in which
they are at. Not looking to downgrade or trade for a package of good
players with nobody close to where they are. Unless I am getting an
offer which includes “can’t miss” prospect that I feel can get up to the
level of whichever I am trading is at, I am just not all that
interested. If I get an incredible offer sure they can go.
12. Lastly who is your BBS champion this year?
I
want to say Pistons but I do love the way the Hornets are built. Their
team defense is incredibly strong and Quincy is just so unreal good.
Plus they have a very good GM in Aar who is always making moves to
improve his team.
Thanks and good luck
