Dirk took home the inaugural mvp award with 6 votes in a hotly contested vote. Dirk averaged over 33 ppg and 8 rpg while shooting astounding %s.

Big Ben was drafted by the Nets and traded for by the Suns to play d and hit the boards. Big Ben responded with 2.7 bpg, 1.4 spg and 12.6 rpg. Not coincidentally the Suns paced the league with 65 wins. Ben won dpoty by garnering 10 out of the 17 votes cast.

Pretty dumb award imo. Most gms seem to have no idea who the 6th man was on other teams. Redd seemed to get a big boost from being named 6th man by fbb and ended up with 10 votes including the 7 cast after fbb awards went up.
