16-
Milwaukee Bucks
GM ellbee is on the hot seat following a barrage of weird moves and trades that left many in BBS confused. With a core of Carmelo Anthony, Yao Ming and Josh Smith, he is left to hope that is enough to compete in the ultra competitive Eastern conference. Much of the responsibility will be put on Royce White to control the distribution of the ball and help this team succeed. Yet, the Achilles heal of this team may be a lack of depth in case of injury and viable option at shooting guard as Marcus Thornton has not gotten significant minutes since his rookie season.
Projected win total: 42-40
17-
Utah Jazz
GAME has an interesting mix of wing scorers in Eric Gordon and Jesus Terry along with point guard Jeremy Lin. Last year’s rookie Gavin Hunt had a nice rookie campaign but has yet to show any prominent development through training camp. It still feels this team needs another elite big to pair with Spencer Hawes since Brandon Bass and Hunt may not be the long term answers for the lack of dominant defense down low.
Projected win total: 44-38
18-
Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers enter this season as somewhat of an enigma because no one is quite sure what to expect from them and their GM, None. They were able to bring back Chandler Parsons who had another nice training camp and saw some things from Anthony Davis and Shabazz Muhammed as well. Still, this team will have to rely on guard Nate Wolters in order to compete in the West and capture a playoff berth.
Projected win total: 43-39
19-
New York Knicks
nybombers3 has begun the disassembly of this once proud team that came closest to winning the title two seasons ago against the Kings. It started with the Yao Ming trade to the Bucks and subsequent trade of Sergio Llull and Tyler Hansbrough to the Heat. Still, the main pieces of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade remain on the roster and will account for some wins even with fillers alongside them until they’re dealt.
Projected win total: 35-47
20-
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs suffered a major blow losing two of its main starters in Marcus Morris and Klay Thompson in free agency to the same Cleveland Cavaliers club. Now, GM steve is faced with the option of rebuilding starting with center Andrew Bynum and guard Russell Westbrook. This team has a major drop in talent after with a few youngsters that aren’t ready yet in Darrell Anthony and Alex Len. So it seems like rebuilding is in the future for this club.
Projected win total: 40-42
21-
Chicago Bulls
The Bulls have a flurry of talent at nearly every position but perhaps still want to wait another year or so to start competing again. After landing two No. 1 picks in Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker, this duo can be one of the most deadly scoring duos in the league with the right development in the future. One or two more pieces may be missing from the frontcourt but may very well be in the mix if one of its stars breaks out.
Projected win total: 32-50
22-
Houston Rockets
The Rockets did well in tabbing center Jonas Valanciunas from the Wizards during free agency and now have one of the cornerstones of their franchise. The Rockets will lean on Valanciunas and Andre Francis to develop and become part of the future of this club. In the meantime, Tyreke Evans remains in the fold but may be on his way out of Houston for the right price.
Projected win total: 31-51
23-
Minnesota Timberwolves
The T-Wolves are pretty bad and even their GM mike knows it prompting to go to the golf range after its team training camp. Center Meyers Leonard remains its lone elite piece, who is also in the last year of its rookie contract. Their top pick Otto Porter looks promising but may be far away from contributing to a winning team. To make matters worse, the Wolves only own rights to the Hornets and Grizz picks this year other than its own, both who are among the top teams in the league last year.
Projected win total: 29-53
24-
Washington Wizards
alldaygb seemed to have thrown in the towel after the exile of Valanciunas to the Rockets. Soon after, the Wiz dealt away guard Deron Williams to Toronto while swingman Da’Sean Butler may be next on the list. After making the playoffs last year, the Wizards may scrap the plan and go back to rebuilding and getting back in the mix in a few seasons.
Projected win total: 30-52
25-
New Jersey Nets
Not a lot of people understand what’s going in New Jersey right now. The team seems to be rebuilding yet somehow go over the hard cap while citing there were problems with their free agency bids. Nevertheless, the Nets have one of the polished players to come out of the draft in quite some time in Alfonso Meanwell. Still, this team has very little young talent around it
besides fellow lotto pick Juan Mendez.
Projected win total: 28-54
26-
Orlando Magic
GM bundy is finally tearing it down after dealing away pieces of Alando Tucker, James Harden and Milan Macvan. Forward Kenneth Faried remains the final piece and could stay in the equation after signing a reasonable deal this off-season. Still, this season is trying to get all its best talent off the roster and hope to win in the next couple season after good draft picks and asset allocation.
Projected win total: 25-57
27-
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors’ pokemon loving GM enters his third full season at the helm with Kevin Garnett still on his roster and not much help other than Isaiah Austin and Erik Osgood. They will have cap space next year along with another high draft pick, but this team has to be getting worried about their upcoming contract year despite the West being rather weak at the bottom and top-heavy currently.
Projected win total: 22-60
28-
Portland Trail Blazers
Newly appointed GM Treasure Island takes over a team that was once SPENCER’s then Broph’s so there is quite a bit of turnover in recent weeks. This team still has a plethora of assets in picks and young players to make moves in the future. For now, it will rely on a young backcourt of Josh Selby and Jamaal Franklin as a foundation.
Projected win total: 15-67
29-
Dallas Mavericks
Other than swingman Harrison Barnes, this team is pretty awful from top to bottom as their GM gmgreggor might tell you. Still, this is part of the Mavs plan for rebuilding and getting back into contending in the West. But this rebuild job may take longer than most depending on if any other young player pan out for this club.
Projected win total: 14-68
