I promised to send Ashes questions if he gave me his second. I didn't promise to post them but I guess that was implied. So here goes:
1. You have been sounding very worn out lately. Is that something that comes and goes or are you getting sick of BBS? What is getting on your nerves?
1. It's a mix of a lot of things. I'm incredibly busy. I go to class from 7am to 11:30am daily, then straight to work. I usually only have Sundays off, but I try my best to be active in BBS and BBSBL even while running UOSL. FBB does wear on me at times, but BBS is always especially annoying. I have terrible luck here and nothing I try seems to work. I got close with Kobe/Smith a few years, but it never amounted to what matters. Also, because I'm get frustrated easy, I hate the bickering and shit talking, so that only makes it worse. Eh, it'll blow over I suppose, but all in all I am not enjoying myself in BBS right now. Tanking always sucks for me since my draft luck is abysmal.
2. Does being a commish make you a better gm? Why or why not?
2. I don't think it helps that much, actually. I think it has actually hurt me. Spencer makes players vastly different than I, and Broph is only a little closer. It hurts on my evaluation of talent, because I get so used to making players certain ways. Obviously I make variations all the times, but the mean for my ratings is very different than here. Also, I've known so many of the GMs for so long, it gets harder and harder for me to deal with them (Trade-wise). Certain guys I can never hammer out deals with because 1) I have little patience for low-balling and 2) If we are too far apart, I'd rather just say fuck it and look elsewhere. Overall, I can't get over my own mediocrity.
3. You just gave me a free 2nd. When you give away picks instead of forfeiting them do you want the pick to suck or to turn out well?
3. Silly question. Of course I don't want the player to be a steal. I hope he sucks. But in all honesty, it doesn't matter. Whoever you chose, they would've busted for me. That's just how it goes.
So your answer is.....?
4. I'm not sold on Marcus Smart. Why makes you think that he will be anything more than the best pg in a bad class?
4. I am actually very high on Marcus Smart. Something about his notes made me think he could be a very good inside PG (not always great) but I have a feeling that with nice "FBB loves PGs" TC and some ACs/RCs, he could have a decent outside game. Also, love that he is a high steals guy and a plus rebounder at PG. He is young and I think he likely has high potential. All of that sounds like a recipe for success, or at least the best pick available.
5. How would you say your rebuild is going so far? Who would you say is your most valuable piece at this point?
5. Well my rebuild just started, but I love that I cleared all my salary. I'm not overly excited since rebuilding ALWAYS sucks for me. I wish I had CC's luck when it comes to this shit. But I definitely think Marcus Smart is my most valuable asset right now, and my 1st Round Pick of course. I'm hoping to get another few top 3 lottos, even though that translates to #4-#5 for my luck, and then maybe a nice pick-up in FA. Right now though I'd give myself a C+ start.
6. Shabazz or Mclemore? Shabazz has the ratings but Broph was very clearly stating that Ben will be better. Who would you have taken first and why?
6. I would've taken Shabazz. Seems like he may have a higher ceiling. Must have a good 3P shot and love the rebounding. Lack of stats D sucks, but from what I saw from McLemore's notes, I wasn't too impressed with his D either. Overall, I think Shabazz will be better. McLemore's notes seemed to be trying too hard.
I think that McLemore will be better. Broph didn't try that hard to sell him as a possible first overall. Or maybe he was using reverse psychology. We will see soon.
7. What do you think of the Suns-Kings blockbuster? Did Jiggy just trade for a title? Which east team will meet him in the finals?
7. Well, broph has been sucking Acy's dick all over the place, so I guess he's worth it. I hate players like him though. This deceptive rating stuff was cute with Preira, but it left a very sour taste in my mouth even with him. Honestly, I like it for Skillz, but understand it for Jiggy. I do think the Kings are definitely the team to beat in the West. I could see the Knicks finally getting there and challenging the Kings for the title.
You missed a question. The easy answer is yes he did although he does have to survive tc. Hawks/Knicks are 1 and 1a in the east (except in play's warped mind) and i guess the Hawks will meet him there.
8. Non-lotto pick who will surprise (please say Goodwin)? Lotto pick who will bust?
8. I think James McAdoo will be the surprise. I can see him being a steal. He always tends to be a scrub to mediocre type player in leagues. Definitely could see broph changing that. He likes to do different stuff. As far as a lotto bust, it's tough for me. I think Bennett, Mclemore, or Austin could easily be busts. I'm going to go with Bennett. Don't see anything good coming from him.
9. What is your favorite part of being a commish? Least favorite?
9. I enjoy seeing how things develop. I like running things for people that they enjoy. I built UOSL3 from scratch after a long layover for simming, so I am very happy with the results. Wish some people would be more active, because I feel like the league is very good. I plan on running it for a long time, and it will be better when my school eases up. As for least favorite, I hate bitching. Obviously you can't get away from it, but being a commish is A LOT of work, I'm sure marty has gained a much better understanding of the demands of simming. I have little patience now and get frustrated easily, so it can be tiresome.
For those of you not in Uosl3 when Ashes says "bitching" he means Play.
10. Say something nice about Marty so he feels good about himself.
10. Marty has done a good job picking up BBS when it was down. The fact that he has been on top of things is awesome. BBS is still going because of marty. Thanks brah.
Yay Marty. Now sim.
11. What do you think about the influx of players like Quincy Acy? Does it throw off the balance of power in the league by giving a random team a big advantage?
11. I think it's stupid, but oh well. Nothing to do with giving random teams a big time player. I just think it is poor for the league overall. Not much else to say about it.
I'm with ya. I like guys that are somewhat better than they should be; a second rounder being a starter or a late lotto being a star. Just random guys being superstars is meh imo.
12. Why can't andy get over the hump? Wade, ming, lbj not enough?
12. I think he can and will. That's a very good team, just needs a little bit more to get it done. This might be the year.
Nah. Can't win with Sergio Llull as pg. They also need depth which they don't have the cap room to get. Time to blow it up.
13. What do you prefer to start a team– cp3/monta backcourt or Tyson/Bynum frontcourt.
13. Tyson/Bynum. I like big men. I know a great PG is huge, but SGs are easy to come by. Having two dominant big man is so huge. That rebounding and defense is awesome and it really makes a huge difference. I'd take two big time big men over a great PG/SG any day.
Shocked that Ashes managed to answer the question without saying shotblocking. I know that you would all be shocked to know that i would rather take the pg/sg combo.
14. If you could pick one player to start a team, who would it be and why?
14. Man this is such a bad question to ask me, I seriously didn't pay much attention last season to other teams. That's why I hate rebuilding. It brings my general interest in the league down. Anthony Davis was pretty good right? I'll say him.
After fa Drose will be the best player in the league. At least if he is on the Nets - the place that pgs go to thrive.
15. Best 3 current posters in BBS? 3 Best all time?
15. Play's my boy, and I do enjoy his posting, so he's one. I've always been a fan of Spencer, and hmmm let's see...Nanz is fun. All time? I miss prime habes. Always entertaining. Don't know if I can make a top 3. Oh forgot about Andy. It's too tough for me to narrow down an all-time list. Lol the old NC clique stuff was funny. And then let's see, Outlawz was cool when he had time. Lol ebner. Who was the Berkley-educated man? Manas? Good times. Krupinski was a personal favorite.
