There is so much baggage that comes with Petrino now. A lot of it can be used against him in recruiting as well.
Also, if he is successful, you can count on him leaving for any job that he'd rather have. He actually wouldn't even need to be successful to do that. By running a clean and slightly improved program for a year or two, he could get an offer at a school that has a greater chance at success. As an AD, you also have to factor in the amount of larger boosters that would be on board with hiring a coach like this. With UKs lack of success for decades, it is possible they are in favor of this move. I know a lot of schools wouldn't be though.

We may not be able to land a big name, but there is no reason we should have to settle for someone like Phillip Fulmer, who couldn't do shit at Tennessee his last few years, or someone like a Mike MacIntyre.
I would be ok with someone like Butch Jones or Sonny Dykes but both have apparently turned down UK already.

Brady Hoke is fucking garbage Hate that Al Borges is tied to his hip. Dude just doesn't know how to call a game. We didn't have any sort of run offense outside of our QBs this season though, so meh, sort of surprised this game was as close as it was to be honest. Need to improve the oline and figure out something at RB (especially if Fitz is going to be out next season). Have complete confidence in Devin next year behind a decent line. |
