A lot of people don't like the broth since it has star anise in it. For the meat it depends on what kind you get though. Traditional would have tripe and muscle and stuff. The gf just likes thinly sliced filet in hers. I will go for the flank and sliced filet. The places where we go serve it with hoisin, red chili sauce, then the assortment of stuff (basil, cilantro, bean sprouts, jalapenos). Yeah I have no problem with star anise. Used in a lot of Chinese cooking so I'm used to it. Of course regarding the meat it depends what cut you get... most the places I've been to that sell pho won't be using filet though for sure, too expensive. But this place near work that I was talking about makes whatever cut it is have the texture of good filet. For the price they sell it at though it can't be filet. Most places here will use topside I'm guessing. And yeah, dip in hoisin to be real tasty, and same, all the places you get it from here give youa bag of condiments to go with it to put in the soup when you get back to your desk... same stuff, beansprouts, coriander, fresh chilli, lime etc). It's so good. What ethnicity are you btw? I'm white. My gf went to a very, very diverse high school (one of the most ethnically diverse in the country, lots of different nationalities represented). Even though she is white she got introduced to a lot of different foods. Plus the area I live in (Northeast of Atlanta) is very diverse as well.

Ah lol. I love steak. Have actually heard of Peter Luger too... was told it was massively overpriced. But I may still check it out. Best meal I had there last time was at the Churrascaria Plataforma or whatever it was called. Damn that was good. I ate til I passed out pretty much. I've had some solid steak. There was a place called Del Frisco's that I had while in Charlotte. Got salad, steak, side, and dessert for $50, so it wasn't too bad. Also had a really good steak in Greenville, NC where my gf took me fo rmy birthday last year. Had a huge bone-in ribeye. Had a solid steak in Key West for a buddy's bachelor party (yeah the group in their infinite wisdom decided we should eat at a steak place in fucking Key West, we never had seafood down there). Though I am happy with a good old outback special from outback.

One bad thing about being a teacher: still having to eat school lunches. Although some of ours are good. When I'm subbing I usually just bring my lunch or not eat lunch. Not worth it to go buy school food.

Had beef dripping cooked chips on the side with some portobello mushrooms and bone marrow. Was amazing. We were stuffed stupid after though. Best steak in London at Hawksmoor IMO, followed by Goodman's, then Maze Grill. Gaucho is a chain but a great one. Basically it's the standard you compare other steaks too. Anything better is great and anything worse isn't worth paying for.

I've heard bad things about outback Outback is what it is, a simple restaurant. It isn't a fancy place (though it is where I took my gf for our first date). The food is good, prices are reasonable, and I like if I have a giftcard to there I can go to Carraba's as well. I haven't gotten many steaks from there (my parents cook steak every staurday night. They buy it in bulk (like a whole ribeye and have it cut) when they go on sale). Their chicken is good enough, blooming onion is solid. But for $10 I can get a 6 ounce steak, salad (blue cheese wedge), and a side...can't really beat it around.

Maaaaaaaan ordered way too much last night... had a sushi platter which was all nigiri - 2 salmon, 2 tuna, 2 sea bass, 1 turbot, 1 salmon roe, 1 squid, 1 cooked prawn, 1 sweet prawn, 1 scallop... had a portion of tuna maki roll (8 pieces), 4 salmon sashimi, 5 scallop sashimi, 4 prawn tempura, 2 veg tempura, 1 soft shell crab tempura, miso soup, clear seaweed soup and a chicken tonkatsu with rice! Smh... ate all the good stuff, left a lot of the rice... spent way more than anticipated too at £60 (around USD 100). Was good though

Had Yum Nam-Tok for lunch. Basically it is a Thai salad with grilled steak. Salty, sweet, spicy, and tangy all rolled into one.
