PF is a lot different now than it used to be, hed be covering a lot of stretch guys, he'll definitely move to that area as he gets slower, no doubt about it he doesn't even guard PF's on defense. its so ignorant, people don't even realize Battier is often the guy taking the beating of PF's on the defensive end. as I said, he wouldnt have to cover down low as much, you arent looking at him necessarily covering PF's, but the game is changing, the days of a post presence power forward are limited, and really you never will find a team with two post threats, so he covers the less worrying guy, or, if its a stretch, thats his job. Hes what, 6'8 250, he can easily handle that role |

He's basically a point guard in Karl Malones body. It's the 7 foot stretch/post players he'd have to worry about. There are alot of those, and more come in every year but really, how many legitimate post up PF's are there? there arent many at all, Griffin isnt even a post up PF, hes an athletic runner PF...if you are looking at inside out threat guys, Love has a great all around post up and outside game, but is so unathletic, LeBron could hang with him, Aldridge is an inside threat, Gasol is old. There just arent a lot of inside out guys at all, guys that can be a big threat down low |

I just dont see how LeBron at 6'8 250 is going to be such a broken down mess playing in the post on offense, and covering a weaker guy on D, he is a ridiculous athletic marvel, and could easily play inside out, for many years...he'll take more of a beating playing the three, running around covering the athletic set of SF's as he gets older than he would guarding slower players, he has enough strength to bully anybody

The league will never go back to 5-10 guys, but there will always be 3-5 guys capable. Even that's a small number though exactly, and the odds of a team having two guys that can post you up down low, which would be cause for concern defensively, are small...it just doesnt make sense unless one can stretch the court as well, because youd be stuck clogging the paint. Drummond Monroe is the biggest chance, and even then, I doubt both those guys end up working together, just because of the post up dynamic. |
