With the 2011 draft soon approaching, all focus is on the lotto. Who will be the team that nabs Kyrie Irving, the consensus no.1 player in the draft? Here is what our mock looks like at this point.
1. Memphis Grizzlies--Kyrie Irving
By far the best player in this draft, Irving will kickstart whichever team he is on immediatly. He already has a killer outside shot and has no weaknesses to speak of. Expect Kyrie to be a superstar and likely the best point guard in the league. Memphis would be crazy not to take him.
2. Indiana Pacers--Kenneth Faried
The next guy that looks like he is essentially a sure-thing, Faried will be a starter for a long-long time. He is already an outstanding rebounder, and is capable pretty much every where else. Not to mention, his notes indicate he has high potential.
3. Orlando Magic (from CLE)--Kawhi Leonard
I would imagine that PLay would be pretty pissed if he didn't land a top two pick with one of his picks. Leonard is probably an obvious pick here, even though he just looks like a really, really good role player when we consider his notes. I wouldn't be surprised to see play take a bigger risk here.
4. Philadelphia 76ers--Jonas Valenciunas
The only big man with huge potential, Jonas could be the second best player in the draft if he pans out. I would not be surprised if he went no.2, but I feel like no.4 is the farthest he would drop. He has got too much talent.
5. Boston Celtics--Klay Thompson
DBW has made it known he likes ratings, so maybe I am giving him too much credit here, but Thompson looks like the 5th best player in the draft. Along with Monroe and Shved, Thompson would provide an instantly great young core and should be a 20 ppg scorer right from the start. A sure thing.
6. Orlando Magic (From NYK)--Brandon Knight
Knight has awesome notes, and would be a great pick from Play here. He'd have Knight-Harden-Leonard at the 1,2,3....which is quite a way to start a rebuild. The only negative is he may not be able to tank so well with Ibaka on his team as well.
7. San Antonio Spurs--Enes Kantor
The Spurs need a real impact player and Kanter may be the only one with superstar potential left. This is a huge risk, as Kanter could bust, but I feel like San Antonio is one of those teams that really needs to take a risk to jumpstart the franchise.
8. Washington Wizards--Chandler Parsons
He is similar to Hayward, but I think Hayward and Parsons would make a great wing combo for years to come. Parsons does not have many weaknesses, and may even reach a higher peak than Kawhi Leonard in the long run.
9. Portland Trailblazers--Kemba Walker
Portland needs a difference maker, and Kemba has the game to become one. I am guessing he has more potential than we give him credit for, and he is already a terror of a scorer. Plus, he can steal.
10. San Antonio Spurs (from Utah)--Markieff Morris
The Spurs land one of the Morris brothers, with the hope that another team doesn't screw them and land the other one. This could be a smart play.
11. New York Knicks (from LAC)--Iman Shuumpert
Easy call for New York, which lands the falling Shumpert. Iman promises to be an elite defensive wing for years to come, though he can't do much else.
12. Washington Wizards (from DEN)--Greg Smith
A nice, solid payer for the Wizards here. You have to go safe when you don't have much else on your roster, right?
13. San Antonio Spurs--Marcus Morris
The Spurs have 3 picks late in the lottery. If they don't end up with the Morris twins, it is a HUGE fail! One of these guys will be a star if they land up on the same team. Good stuff here.
