MVP: Yao Ming
Yao Ming was dominant on both ends. He scored 25 ppg and pulled down over 13 rpg. He also had 3.1 bpg and 0.9 spg. Unlike most center who mostly just do damage to their own teams offensively, yao had shot 51% from the field and 76% from the line. Add that to the ridiculous amount of times that he got to the line and you have this year's mvp. I even voted for Yao although I think that cp3 should have gotten more love. CP3 and Monta led a bunch of scrubs to 65 wins.
Other players receiving votes: Kobe – 3, David Lee – 2, Cp3 – 1.
DPOTY: Tyson Chandler
Still hated in NJ, he is loved in Mia. Helping the Heat to the second seed by blocking 3.9 bpg and chipping in 0.9 spg. Also grabbed 12.9 rpg. Bogut improved his bpg and prg by about 1 each. Not bad for a 25 yr old.
Other players receiving votes: Andrew Bogut – 3.
6th man of the year: Oleksiy Pecherov
Averaged the 4th most minutes on the Bucks. Not a good player. Shouldn't start anywhere. Doesn't really do anything well.
Other players receiving votes: dalembert– 3, Mickael Pietrus-1, eric Bledsoe – 1, tyreke -1 , Webster -1, gooden -1.
ROTY: De'sean Butler
Steal of the draft is an understatement. Taken with the 6th pick in the second round, Butler was easily the best rookie in the class scoring 22 ppg on nice %s. He rebounds, steals and his tos are under control. He even blocks a little. Monroe almost got 20-10 as a rookie but that is part of playing on the bereft of talent Celtics squad. He can't block and his tos are high so who knows what will be of him in this block happy league.
Other players receiving votes: Greg Monroe – 3, John Wall – 2, cousins - 1.
Gmoty: Pig.
Pig won this year in a split decision. He ended up with 4 votes, closely followed by a bunch of other gms. Pig brought in a frontline to dream of and managed to stay within 15 games of the Nets. Pretty impressive stuff. Bynum looks really good; if only Young had developed….. Alldaygb had trouble with the concept of not voting for himself and was also possibly confused about the award itself.
Other gms receiving votes: greg – 2, jiggy -2, skillz -1, greeme -1, Donatello -1, alldaygb -1.
All star teams (points in parentheses – maximum points is 36)
Ming and Bryant led the voting with 32 out of a 36 max each. David Lee ended up with 27 votes but I couldn't really put him at sf or pg so it is the second team for him. Pg vote was very divided with cp3, deron, baron, lowry and rose all getting first team votes. Play decided to vote for MJ; his grip on reality growing more tenuous from day to day.
