1. Normally I start off with questions about said person's team but this feels like a special occasion. I believed you've wanted questions for a bit now so here you go. What made Jiggy come back and how has this stint gone for you?
I got a text from Spencer about the re-start. Naturally, I texted him back something like "You know this is Jiggy, right?" After my last disaterous run, I figured there must be some kind of mistake. But BBS5 has gone pretty fuckin' well so far. I have a top 5 team that's locked up and can contend for the next few seasons.
2. Your fighting with the Rockets for the top seed in the West. Do you feel like your around where you expected to be? Any moves you regret making/not making?
I came into this version with no expectations, not knowing if the sim world had passed me by. I knew I'd been good in the past and after being away for a few years, came back into the last version and slowly pressed a 12 season long log of shit into the bed. Luckily, BBS5 has been a much better run so far. Any moves I regret making/not making? I regret that I ignored my cap situation until it was about to be a problem. I'd much rather have Korolev and my 1st this year than Tayshaun and MacCullouch, but I'm not dwelling.
3. November 15th was a big day for you, stealing away TC from the Nets. What was you thinking as the page loaded up and when you saw you had signed him? Did your team direction change after that?
I stood up and threw a right hook at the air and said "WHAT!" like I'd just dangled my nuts in someone's face while dunking on them. Then I sat down and hit refresh for some reason, expecting it to change. It didn't. So I got to come out of the rebuild after one season, swapped Eric Gordon for Louis Williams and rode it to the conference finals.
4. David Lee is quietly putting up a rather sick season. How good is he really? Where does he rank overall?
David Lee is a fucking monster. How good is he? Well, lets just say this: Good enough to supplant a 30ppg scorer as 1st option. I mean, what other PF with C+ defense plays 35+ minutes a game? The percentages, the rebounding...sick, sick, sick. In my mind, he's right up there with a declining Duncan. More points and rebounds, better percentages and handles, but waaaay less in the blocks dept., which is why I don't think he'll ever really get his due. I don't care though, he isn't going anywhere.
5. There are a bunch of stars on the trade block currently. LeBron, Wade, Melo, Deron, Howard to name a few. Where are some of these guys going? Any other stars need to be moved?
It seems that Lebron has already found a home, but neither Play nor LBJ's new daddy is saying where he's gonna end up. I don't think that either LA team needs to blow it up to be honest--they just need a re-tool and the 76ers are doing pretty well tanking with Dwight. Add in Dwight's bad rep and I sorta think they should just hang onto him. As far as other stars who need to find new homes, the first that comes to mind is Arenas. There is nothing good going on in Toronto right now, and it doesn't look to be getting any better. DJ needs to blow it up.
6. Two interesting moves have been made lately. The Hawks traded for Steve Francis, a PG, to be their 2 guard dispite having a million trade pieces. Meanwhile, NJ traded 4 picks for Hank Norel and Brandon Bust Jennings. What are your thoughts on these moves?
I don't mind the Francis trade at all. Lowry and Gay are both keepers and Love, Griffin and Oden all have that high loyalty, low greed thing going on, so I can see why he'd want to keep them all. I just don't know if he'll be able to afford them all. Francis at SG makes sense like Arenas at SG makes sense. He should've pulled the trigger earlier though because it might take a while to figure out how to get these guys to work together offensively. The playoffs are coming up quick and the team is still streaky as shit. The Norel/Jennings aquisition on the other hand...Yikes! I can see shedding a bad contract and 4 1sts because you can't afford them, but the return has to be better than that.
7. Will the Nets come out of the East or will it be someone else? Who's a major sleeper team out East?
I think that the East is a lot harder to call than the West. Let's just take the Nets out of the equation. Greeme won't mind; he doesn't think it's him either. 7 playoffs, no finals, no frontcourt. I'd love to see a Pistons/Heat conference final. But I wouldn't be surprised if a spoiler paved the way for Orlando, Atlanta or even Chicago to sneak in. If I were a betting man though, I'd put my money on Miami.
8. Similar to the last question, will the Rockets come out of the West? Who's a major sleeper team out West? Where will the Kings end up when it's all said and done?
I honestly think it's me, bro. It'd be awsome if someone could beat Houston for me though. It's not that I don't know how to beat them--I wiped my ass with them a couple of playoffs ago--it's that I worry that I don't have the personel to beat them anymore. Chandler shut Yao the fuck down in that series. Parker is definitely a better bet than Thabo as far as running an inside offense goes, but is that gonna be enough to offset the difference between Chandler and Big Baby? Hopefully I get to find out because if I'm playing Houston, things have turned out well. Can't sleep Phoenix though, or Dallas for that matter.
9. Your BBS Champs will be...
Sacramento over Miami in 6.
10. Spencer draft or Broph draft. Which do you prefer?
WillC all the way. Nah. Honestly, I think the jury is still out and I doubt if there even is an answer to this question. They seem to be on the same page as far as talent-level goes, so I'm inclined to think that it's a good thing for the league to have someone like Broph spelling Spencer indefinitely. And if Spencer takes over again down the road, all the better. In a perfect sim world, I'd like to see the two of them switch off every few seasons. It'd keep both guys, and the sim as a whole fresh.
11. Going back to Jiggy for a bit, I know you've been in sims for a while. Gimme a sim league story. Funny, crazy, sad. I don't care.
My memory is pretty hazy and fragmented, so I can only remember bits and pieces. I can give you those. I remember one season Ginn had 15 1sts and had a team of all rookies; Will posting that picture of his girls "minge" after he found out she was fucking her boss. I remember David Martin, James Lang, Christos Tapoutas and 7 ft. PG Kosta Perovic. I remember Maniac's obsession with Katherine McPhee. Scott Carter. Legends. I remember teams getting 10+ blocks and 10+ steals a game. I remember Tibor and I having novella-length fights that always ended with both sides claiming victory. And whatever happened to bballcool? HoS? Arenas2JRich? Ducky?
12. The last time you did one of these, you told us you can suck your own dick. Gimme some interesting story/fact from the real life Jiggy.
Jesus, I have tons of 'em. Ok. Wanna hear about the time I paid $400 for a fake abortion so the chick could get her car fixed? Maybe about the time I got a coke nosebleed all over a girls tits while I was fucking her? No, no. I've got one. So I'm sitting in my living room with a bunch of people and we're...doing what we do. Err...did. Before the wife and kid. I hear the front gate creek open and rush to look out the window. There's a fucking Girl Scout walking up to my house with an armful of cookies. I'm like "fuck, this place smells like Amsterdam I've gotta get rid of this little chick." So I open the door a crack and I'm like "hey, hey...no thanks, no thanks" and slam it in her face. I run back to the window and watch her walk back to the car, watch her mother say some shit to her and then she walks back up toward the house. I'm like wtf? I run back to the door and stick my head out before she can get to the steps and I'm like "really kid...we don't have any money and we're diabetic...all of us...it's a support group meeting" and slam the door on her again. So I go and sit back down. A minute later the doorbell rings and I scream "what the fuck kid?!?!" I stomp over to the door and whip it open and the kid is standing there crying and now...her fuckin' mother is there too. About three syllables into ripping her mother to shreds she cuts me off: "You already paid for them, sir. We're just trying to drop them off. Please...just take the cookies." She was right. I forgot.
13. Going to the NBA now, why is your favorite team struggling?
I hope the Celtics don't think that because they're playing better since Avery Bradley's return, that it's going to be enough going forward. It's like, enough Jeff Green already!!! They went out and got Terry, Barbosa and Lee to hit coffin nail 3's, but forgot to get somebody that could hold the coffin closed, or even get the other motherfucker in it for that matter. Garnett? Ok, I get it. C's fans love him and he makes the team a ton of money. He's 157 years old, but whatever. Then there's Sullinger, fuckin' Green (?!?!?!?), Bass and Wilcox. Then, to add insult to fuckin' injury, they have the nerve to wheel Jason Collins out there. Nice fuckin' big rotation Ainge. Pierce gets about 13 milimeters of air on his jumpshot these days, Rondo still can't shoot and nobody can rebound. They're struggling because they suck.
14. I believe the Pats are your football team. Are they winning it all?
With Gronk back and the Giants on their couches, I think they have a damn good shot at winning it all this year. Moving McCourty to saftey has made a world of difference. Their pass defense has gone from awful to meh and that very well could be good enough to get it done with this offense. The emergence of Stevan Ridley is another big factor. Not only does it give the Pats a legit big-chunk yardage threat, it also allows them to use Woodhead the way he needs to be used. The only thing that worries me is playing the Broncos in Denver.
15. One more question about the Kings. What's the future hold for Jiggy and the Sacramento Kings.
I'm in the 1st year of a 3 year window I've set for myself. If it goes well (i.e. I start winning titles) I can carry it over for a 4th and 5th year. If not, I'll have the commodities to get 2, possibly 3 great rebuilding packages and start all over again. My ultimate goal is to piss my name all over that historical performance page's face.
I got a text from Spencer about the re-start. Naturally, I texted him back something like "You know this is Jiggy, right?" After my last disaterous run, I figured there must be some kind of mistake.
