Lets take a quick look at the 2011 BBS Draft!
1. Indiana Pacers - Kyrie Irving PG 74 180 19 Duke B- B+ B- C D+ A
Kyrie is the absolute no brainer #1 pick. Hes the best player in this class by far. He fits in with Demarcus Cousins as the future of the Pacers franchise. Irving will probably be one of the better PGs in the league at some point. great fit for Indiana.
2.New York Knicks - Enes Kanter C 83 259 19 Kentucky C+ D+ D- C+ B- A
The Knicks need to get some valuable pieces to make moves this offseason. Falling from 1 to 2 is huge for them. No player on the board at 2 will help them make their CY so this player gets traded. Kanter seems to be a nice young big man with upside. He should bring something nice for the Knicks in their quest to win 42.
3. Cleveland Cavaliers - Kawhi Leonard SF 79 227 20 San Diego State C+ B C A B- B
The Cavas have a nice young core with potential future stars at PG and PF in Mike Conley and Derrick Favors. They also have a very good scoring SG in Rudy Fernandez. Adding a glue type SF like Leonard makes a lot of sense. Leonard wont need to be an option and will help the Cavs horrible defense.
4. Philadelphia 76ers -Derrick Williams SF 80 248 20 Arizona B- B D+ C C A
The Sixers need a big time scorer to take the load off of Dwight Howard. Although Williams has some big question marks he can score. If he has real A potential he could be a B+ B+ type of scorer and a plus rebounder at SF. Both would be huge and allow D12 to be a 2nd option.
5. Memphis Grizzlies - Jonas Valanciunas C 83 240 19 Lithuania B C- C- C+ C A
The Grizzlies need a player to build around. At this point in the draft that type of player probably isnt around. But when you see JV you can make an argument that if he has big potential he might be as close as you can get. Hes huge and he can score down low. His rebounding isnt great but if he can become a 18-8 type PF he'll be a plus to any team.
6. San Antonio Spurs - Klay Thompson SG 79 206 21 Washington State C+ A- C C+ C- B
The Spurs already have a great young shooter in Danilo Gallinari. Here they add another big time shooter to team with him. Klay Thompson and Gallinari should make it easy for the Spurs to choose a direction. Shooters for an outside fast offense. Just get some rebounders and shot blockers and youre set!
7. Boston Celtics - Brandon Knight PG 75 189 20 Kentucky C+ B C C D+ A
Once again this team is like Memphis in that it needs a player to build around. Greg Monroe is a solid start, but you need that #1 type option too and Knight might be that dynamic shoot first PG every team likes. Hes raw, but if he isnt athletic his C+ B ratings might very well be better then they seem.
8. Washington Wizards - Kenneth Faried PF 79 225 21 Morehead State C+ C- D+ C+ B+ A
Wizards already have a nice young wing in Gordon Hayward now they add a potential big time PF in Faried. Worst case hes a re bounding machine at PF. This team probably needs another trip to the lotto to compete though.
9. Portland Trail Blazers - Kemba Walker PG 73 172 21 Connecticut B- B- C+ C D+ B
Not a huge fan of this pick but not much left at this point. Hopefully with some RC and AC love Kemba can become a solid PG to team with Demar DeRozan in an outside type offense. Time will tell.
10. Washington Wizards (from Denver Nuggets) - Chandler Parsons SF 82 221 22 Florida C+ B C+ B+ C B
Wizards go solid again here with Parsons. This move allows Hayward to stay at SG and means the Wizards only need a #1 type option at PG and a shot blocking C. Pretty solid start for the Wiz.
11. New York Knicks (from Los Angeles Clippers)- Tristan Thompson PF 81 227 20 Texas C+ D+ D B C+ A
Knicks once again just need assets. Thompson might be a hit or miss player, but his starting ratings are sexy enough that a team with an aging vet should jump at him. Pretty unlikely either of these draft choices play for the Knicks.
12. San Antonio Spurs (from Milwaukee Bucks)- Donatas Motiejunas C 84 224 20 Lithuania C+ B C C C+ B
Spurs take a flier on a raw youngster in Montiejunas. Hopefulyl they can gut their roster and start him at PF. Theyll pile up the loses with his lack of defense. They need another big time lotto pick badly.
13. Seattle SuperSonics - Bismack Biyombo PF 81 243 19 Congo C D D B+ C A
Sonics are right on the edge of the playoffs. They have a ton of veteran talent but they could use some blocks. Biyombo is a perfect fit. He can play some backup PF and C and should give the Sonics that little extra to make a push at the playoffs next year.
1. Indiana Pacers - Kyrie Irving PG 74 180 19 Duke B- B+ B- C D+ A
