We wanna get a laptop. I just want to get some ideas of some better ones. Wed like to be able to watch blu ray dvds etc. netflix would be nice. Id like to do some gaming like OOTP or the new FBB when it came out. Not really into any other computer gaming. Maybe run our ipod through it so some decent music applications. Internet obviously. Weight doesnt matter too much.
Ideas?

most if not all run of the mill laptops can do everything on that list. Just need to find one that you like with a blue ray drive.
Keep an eye out at slickdeals if you don't already.. always some kind of nice laptop deal posted there

yeah, what dbw said. Without the blu-ray requirement, you could get a laptop for under 300 that'd do all those things without any issue.
blu-ray is usually harder to find in cheaper models though, so going to have to put some effort into finding one. If I happen to notice one I'll let you know.

Anyone have any specific thoughts on laptops with blu ray capabilities?

eh, not really. As far as I know they don't put blu ray drives in the cheapos so any blu ray laptop should be solid. I think you can narrow your search on most sites.. look for the blu ray option and from there you should just pick what you think looks the best/within your budget if you have one
I'll keep my eyes peeled as well though

I did that from my phone so link may be ehhh
Anyways, blu ray drives are cheap, you can find laptops in the 400-700 range with blu ray drives and just about everything else you are looking for. Only issue for you will be whether or not you want/need a graphics card vs integrated.

Integrated works fine for these simulation programs
But it gets annoying sometimes with like HD streaming and shit.

3rd gen i5 is so real. Where the hell is the resolution though? either I'm blind or they made a huge omission there. Gonna assume it's the standard 1366x768 crap meh. I got used to it on mine in like a few hours though. And Spence should definitely check out a Windows 8 lappy at a store.. he might not like it (I personally think it's great but a lot of people hate it) Should also check to see if you'd like a backlit keyboard. Might as well go hard if you got it

HD4000 is nice in my experience Yeah, the intel integrated stuff is more than fine for video streaming and the like as long as the processor is decent (I'd suggest an i5 or up, but an i3 will get the job done too). If you don't intend on using your laptop for any modern gaming/graphically intensive stuff, no point in overspending on something with a nice video card.

The blu ray thing is probably going to price lock you into spending $500 or so, just because really cheap laptops pretty much never have blu ray drives in them. If you didn't care about blu-ray you could find a laptop for $250 that'd more than meet your needs.

This dude I know just got some kind of Lenovo... keyboard looks gorgeous with the lighting. Kinda feening for one now. I might give Dell a call and see if it's possible to get a backlit keyboard in this thing.. or am I shit out of luck?
