MVP: Tim Duncan
Again, a two man race. I think that Kobe lost just because of the games he missed. He was so dominating this year it was ridiculous. On the other hand, it is hard to find fault with a vote for Timmy. He was the best player on the best team, leading the Celtics to 62 wins. A dominant force on both ends he averaged 27.9 ppg and 14.3 rpg while shooting over 51% from the field. Oh yeah, he also had 2.7 bpg and 1.4 spg. How will his stats be affected if Shaq retires? I hope to find out this coming year.
Other players receiving votes: Kobe Bryant – 4.
DPOTY: Tim Duncan
Duncan led the league in boards and was 6th in blocks. Also chipped in 1.4 spg. A runaway winner this year, taking all but 2 votes cast.
Other players receiving votes: AK47 – 1, theo ratliff -1
6th man of the year: Brandon Roy
Since voting was done after awards were posted and nobody really has an idea who to vote for it was not surprising that Roy took almost all of the votes.
Other players receiving votes: Zbo – 1, Chris Bosh -1.
ROTY: Kevin Durant
A unanimous choice and deservedly so. He scored over 30 ppg in his rookie year, highlighted by a 57 point outburst, and shot very good %s. He averaged 1.4 spg and 1 bpg as well as 5.9 rpg. Only 19 and already receiving all league votes, Durant will be a force in this league for the next 15 years.
Other players receiving votes:
Gmoty: Skillz.
Skillz only had about half the votes but nobody else received more than 1 vote. Not sure if some of the votes were serious but if they were then some gms are really not paying attention. Skillz has put together a dominant team this year and if they don't get upset in the second round they should challenge for a ship this year. Of course their window is closing quickly with 3 main players at least 33 years old but I'm sure that Skillz has more trades up his sleeve.
Other gms receiving votes: Marty -2, Broph-1, Andy -1, Game -1, DBW – 1.
