MVP: Tim Duncan
Meh, Kobe was up 6-4 before the fbb awards were posted. So no picture for TD and a big one for Kobe. Kobe ran away with the scoring title scoring 36.4 ppg, 5.5 more than his closest competitor. He also was 5th in steals and averaged over 8 boards per game as a sg. Detractors will point to his tos but that is what happens when the offense always runs through you. TD is also a solid player no doubt, leading the league in boards and shooting 525%. Also led the Celtics to an East leading 59 wins. Still think that you had to be on something to take him over Kobe.
Other players receiving votes: Kobe - 6
DPOTY: Tyson Chandler
Tyson led the league in blocks and was second in boards. Also chipped in 1.4 spg. Pretty easy winner getting 7 out of the 12votes cast.
Other players receiving votes: ak47 – 3, Tim Duncan -3
6th man of the year: Jerry Stackhouse
Stupid award. Three way tie with 2 votes each until play broke the tie. Really not a ton to say.
Other players receiving votes: Keith Van Horn - 2, Justin Reed, - 2, David Lee -1, Rasheed Wallace – 1, Marc Jackson – 1, Grant Hill -1, Luis Scola -1, James Posey - 1.
ROTY: Chris Paul
I think that a lot of people would recast their votes if they realized that Paul only played 42 games. His stats were slightly better than Deron's overall but just slightly. Ellis is mostly a scorer on a bad team. I don't think that there is doubt that CP3 is the better player at this point but winning roty while playing 42 games? idk
Other players receiving votes: Monta Ellis – 3, Deron Williams -4.
co-Gmoty: tiger, ilovebball
Good job putting guys around Tmac. Added Kidd and later Jwill. Team really doesn't look intimidating on paper but they did have the best record in the league. Kidd looks like a much better fit on the Spurs than Nash on the Celtics.
Other gms receiving votes: Andy – 1, Habes-1, erbes – 1.
All star teams (points in parentheses – maximum points is 38)
Shaq and TD were the only unanimous selections. Some idiot voted for Tmac over Kobe. This might be Dirk's last year on the first team. I think that LBJ will overtake him next year. JO got no votes this year, probably bc of injury but I doubt that we have seen the last of him. Tyson was pretty great though.
