1. You were able to acquire Harden/Faried/CP3. What were these talks like? What made you so interested in these 3 guys as opposed to potentially other players?
I went after CP3 because I knew that I could get him at a good price. I wanted to get a solid PG to help me next year and save a bunch of my assets for other deals to fill other holes. Skillz came to me offering Faried for some of my better assets like Francis, Harrison or #5 but we countered back and forth until we came up with our deal and I kept my big assets. I liked the idea of pairing up Faried and Jonas though, seems like they should compliment each other well. Lastly Nanz asked me mid season if I had interest in Harden and we talked until the end of the season and managed to get a deal done. I needed a #1 option and Harden can be that guy, I'll have to play him at SF though so hopefully that works out.
2. You were able to keep the 6th pick in the draft and you selected Evan Montgomery. What did you like about him?
Honestly he was the last person on my 6 man list, I was aiming for Jackie Harrington at #6 the most. Montgomery sounds like he could come in and help me next season while also having some potential to get better in the future. A lot of the other players were either too raw with potential and wouldn't help me or would be good right away but had no potential.
3. What are you expectations on the season? What needs to be done for you to be 100% secure in making your CY?
I think I should make my CY easily if Harrison has a big TC. If we struggle early I can move Harrison to the bench, Harden to SG and deal one or two of Madden/Montgomery/Augmon and try and find a better SF.
4. What is a "Biggie" team made of? Do you prefer going inside, balanced or outside?
I like balanced, but usually it seems teams are more successful with inside or outside. Maybe that's why I never win? Lmao.
5. Going back to the draft, who had the best draft? Worst draft? Biggest reach/steal?
I really like Jackie Harrington, but he wasn't really a steal at #5. It's too early to really answer this question, but I like the Ricardo Massenburg pick by Donatello. He has a ton of camps and should have 100 potential, I just didn't select him at #6 because he was too raw and I rarely write articles.
6. While FA isn't as loaded as it was last season, it does still have some talent. Will any of the big names leave? Do you foresee someone getting overpaid?
Players get overpaid all the time so yes, someone will get overpaid. I think at most one big name will leave for another team but usually we don't see many big names change unless the previous team lowballs them.
7. The term "Biggie 1st" was used by Skillz in a trade. What are your thoughts on this?
Whatever, I use it to my advantage in trade talks. When I mention that I am offering my firsts I make sure they know that I usually suck and might want them back. Lmao.
8. You made big trades with Skillz, Nanz and ellbee. Who was the easiest to deal with? Hardest? Who did the math in the deal with ellbee?
Easiest was Nanz, then ellbee, Skillz was the hardest. I did the math in the deal with Nanz and ellbee, but Skillz did the math in our deal.
9. The Hornets just won the past seasons championship in a great 7 game series with the Nuggets. Obviously it's early but does either team make it back?
I think Hornets can repeat if they maintain the same team and add onto it. Nuggets probably won't be there again next season, but who knows!?
10. Do you think there will be a big difference in the drafts now that John will be taking that over as well?
Yes there will be some kind of difference, but if he studied spencers ratings then he should be able to make them similar. I like changes in drafts though, it's boring when they are always the same.
11. Which team currently has the best future ahead? Which has the worst?
I'm not entirely sure what every rebuilding team looks like right now and I only have so much time to answer these questions. I like the way the Wizards team looks though, Wang and Jesus are solid and Beals looks decent.
12. What are your thoughts on the NFL draft? How you followed it at all and are there any surprises?
I've had it on, I follow it but like everyone don't know everyone being selected. Surprised Geno Smith fell so far and EJ Manuel was picked so high. Thought it was weird Chip Kelly went with Matt Barkley, doesn't seem like his style of QB. I'm a Seahawks fan and I'm liking what they've selected so far... Christine Michael, Jordan Hill and Chris Harper. The Michael pick surprised me because we selected a Robert Turbin last year and he played solid.
13. Celtics and Lakers may get swept. Westbrook is out. Have the NBA playoffs gone as you thought they would thus far? Who's making it to the finals?
The finals should still be OKC vs. Miami, but anyone can come out of the West honestly other than Lakers and Rockets. There are way too many injuries, it kinda sucks that no team is at 100%. I hope DRose returns if the Bulls advance to play the Heat.
