1. Minnesota Timberwolves - Andrew Harrison PG 6'5'' 215 22 B+ C B B C+ A
Grade: B+
I would have taken Dakari here since I think he will be the better player but I can't lower the grade too much since Harrison does look awesome. As I said I think Harrison is a lot of athleticism and has very low potential so I don't think he will be that great. But he is already very, very good so he doesn't need to get too much really unless he is all athlete. Which I doubt since his notes were really nice. He should be a very good player, I just don't see him being a great player like I do Dakari.
2. Chicago Bulls - Dakari Johnson C 7'1'' 285 21 B- D+ C+ B- B A
Grade: A
As I said above, Dakari is who I would have taken #1 so Bulls get a high grade. Dakari's notes were much better than Harrison he sounds like he is going to be the best big man in the league one day. Not quite as good of ratings as Harrison, but I think that B+ inside for him is exaggerated b/c of athleticism. While Dakari's ratings are all important skills like inside scoring, shot blocking, rebounding, and a lot of strength which is huge for a center. And I think Dakari has the better potential as well. A- A- A- type guy who does everything pretty well. Should be a stud.
3. Houston Rockets - Aaron Harrison SG 6'5'' 215 22 C+ B C+ B- C A
Grade: B+
After the first two picks the draft could go many different ways and it did. The Rockets went the safe route by taking the best looking prospect(by ratings) on the board. I like this pick I think he could end up being really good. He just needs to get those camps, because without them I think he will be a bust. So biggie needs to be careful and put some camps into him early before he has a bust on his hands. Hard to guess what kind of potential he has a part of me says he has really good potential and will become a better player than his brother who has shit potential. But I doubt it lol still should be a really nice player.
4. Orlando Magic - Ben Simmons SF 6'10'' 215 20 B- B- C B- C A
Grade: A-
This is who I would have taken third if I had the pick. Simmons notes were better than Harrison's imo. He probably really needs his camps too though. Since I have a feeling no one has great potential in this draft besides maybe Dakari. I think Simmons will be a really good scorer from everywhere, play good defense and rebound. But his problem will be turnovers. His notes compared him to Carmelo Anthony and didn't say anything else about his handling so you have to assume his handling may be a little low, but if it isn't this guy could be awesome.
5. Dallas Mavericks - Terrell Ham SG 6'7'' 225 22 C+ C+ C+ C+ C+ A
Grade: C
I like Ham, but he definitely went a little higher than he should have. At 5 you need to draft a stud. And Ham is a boom/bust type player and you just don't take those type of players that high. But if he does boom, the Mavs will look like geniuses. C+'s across the board are nice, you have to hope they are close to B- so with camps and a decent TC he could be looking really good. Notes don't really say much about his playing ability so its hard to judge him really it will all depend on how he is camped and obviously if he has high potential or shitty potential.
6. Portland Trail Blazers - Jacquez Irish PG 6'1'' 188 19 C B C+ C+ D A
Grade: B
And this is who I would have taken at 5 if I had the pick. Irish's ratings can be a bit of a turn off, but I think he is one of those guys who is going to be awesome despite their ratings not being the best. Gave them a B since it's not the best fit with already a bad rebounder in Selby at PG. But I like the pick other than that. Avg. nearly 40 ppg in college, so I think that C B scoring is mostly inside scoring and jump shot. Decent 3 point shot as well. The quickness will help him a little scoring wise too. And with the steals which his notes say he will get a lot of. So a lot of points and a lot of steals is what I see out of this guy. His ratings might not ever be sexy though so that could hurt his value.
7. Sacramento Kings - Rico Holloway SF 6'8'' 225 23 C+ A- C- A- C B
Grade: B-
Went a little higher than I thought and to the wrong team imo. Kings should be in full rebuild mode for the next 2-3 seasons with a new GM coming in. And Holloway is a win now player so the fit makes very little sense to me. But I like Rico a lot, he is about the 7th best prospect probably taking in everything. Should be a really good player especially if he gets his camps early on. But Im afraid the Kings won't do that and he will just sort of die. But hopefully not.
8. Washington Wizards - Jesus Brown SG 6'5'' 215 17 B C+ C+ C C A
Grade: C
Yea not a huge fan of this pick, I'm not a huge fan of players who might have high potential especially if their notes are terrible. He has some nice parts to his game, but mostly useless things. He has some huge holes and will need his camps very early and a few huge TCs to become a good player. I would have went with Calvin Porter his notes sound exactly like Dasean Butler who did a lot of good things for this franchise. Or James Young who I had going 6th in my mock. But if the Wizards plan on getting him his camps soon then this pick isn't so bad, just a few players I like a little more I would have taken here first.
9. New York Knicks - James Young SG 6'6'' 204 21 C+ B C C+ C A
Grade: B+
I thought Young would go higher, but the way his notes are put it seems like he may have limited upside which scares off a lot of GMs. Seems like there are 3-4 guys with the same ratings in every draft so probably another reason he fell. But I think like Aaron Harrison and Ben Simmons, Young could be a good starting SG if he gets his camps early, all he needs is one decent TC really since he could be B- B+ or better scoring after camps. If he has high potential then thats awesome but probably just average.
10. Utah Jazz - Kuran Iverson SF 6'9'' 215 23 B C B+ B- C A
Grade: D+
Kuran had some of the best ratings in this draft, but he is a trap imo his notes were terrible. And the Jazz have McAdoo who is similar so just a terrible pick all around here. I think there was some controversy with the pick but didn't care enough to go back and read. Iverson could still have really nice trade value if he has a good TC and gets his camps. Because his ratings are sexy, but thats about the only positive thing he has going for him.
11. Toronto Raptors via Pacers - Kyle Crawford PG 6'2'' 207 20 C B- B- A- C B
Grade: A-
The rich get richer here. Same opening sentence I had in my mock lol, had them taking Rico here, but Crawford works and may be an even better pick. I had him going 2 picks higher in my mock so I like him a lot. Already up to B outside with a few RCs too. But I wouldn't have camped his offense, since I don't think he will ever be anything there. But he is going to take care of the ball, play great defense and rebound the ball. At the time Deron was in free agency which made this an even better pick since Crawford can come in and start right away imo.
12. Dallas Mavericks via 76ers - Calvin Porter SF 6'10'' 224 20 C+ A- C C+ C B
Grade: A
I had Porter going 8th so safe to say I like him lol. His notes were pretty awesome and ratings look good too. Not quite sure why he fell so far unless people just didn't read his notes. Deadly from mid and long range and he can block and steal while not turning it over...ummm...and they also say not very athletic so that C+ inside has to be a good bit of inside scoring as well. Only question mark really is potential but you have that with every player in drafts so yea not sure why he didn't go higher. Steal for the Mavs here imo. Definitely should get his camps early though.
13. Washington Wizards via Miami Heat - Ben Beals C 6'10'' 265 22 B+ C+ D+ C+ B- B
Grade: B+
This is who I had them taking in my mock, good pick here. Beals will need his camps and might always have turnover issues but I think he will be a very effective offensive player at the very least. If his defense and rebounding come around he will be a very good starter one day. I'm afraid he won't get his camps though and will just die out like so many other players who come in with good ratings and meh potential. Needs his camps and if he gets them I think he will be a very nice player.
