1. Your team went 24-58 this past season. Obviously your plan was to tank so I won't you if you succeeded your plan there but were any moves (trades, signings, etc) available to you that you look back on and regret not making?
I only talked trade with a couple of GM’s last year and there was one deal that was pretty close to getting done, but we’re still talking trade now. There aren’t any moves that I look back on and think that my team would be much better if I accepted those offers. I like where this team is headed.
2. You have a bunch of rookies on your team, led by Andrew Harrison. While he was touted as the #1/#2 pick easily, there have been a lot of talk about him potentially being a "bust". Do you agree with this? Why didn't you draft Dakari instead?
No one mentioned him being a bust. Ashes is happy with Dakari because he already has a piss poor version of Harrison in Smart. Harrioson plays a more valuable position, has great starting ratings, and has more trade value. If any GM chose Dakari over Harrison that would have been ridiculous. Both of them are going to be great players, but PG > C. Leonard and Dakari would have been sick though.
3. I believe this will be your last season to tank, if you so desire. What's the plan for this coming season? Will you make moves now, pre deadline or off season?
I’m still going to tank this season. There is no reason not to. I’ve gotten pretty lucky in the lotto so far and hopefully that continues. I’m more than willing to make a deal to solidify the team, but the deal hasn’t come along yet. I doubt we will contend for the #1 pick again, buta solid lotto would be great. PM if any of you want to trade.
4. With you having to make moves sooner rather then later, what kind of players will you be looking for to help you make your CY?
I need a SG and a PF depending on how Nash develops. I have a bunch of rookies and hope some of them pan out. If only one of the later picks pans out I’ll be thrilled. Oakley had awesome notes and he and Leonard would make a great tandem. I have to camp Harrison before anyone else. Nash needs to improve also if he wants to become the starting PF. It’ll be an interesting TC to say the least.
5. FA is coming up soon (likely Sunday). Do you see any of the top tier players leaving their current teams? Which players do you feel will get massively overpaid?
FA was already simmed, and it doesn’t look like any star players jumped ship. Lowry got massively overpaid. Why don’t GM’s just calculate how much everyone else can offer and offer just a bit more, but I guess that’s just too much work. LMA’s contract is huge also, but at least it’s not worth 156,000,000.
6. Let's go back to the draft. Who had the best draft? Who had the worst?
I would say Wizard’s because there is no reason Jesus should have fallen to #7, and both Claxton and Case have a chance to be quality members of a winning team. Nuggets also got lucky to pick Bobby Portis with pick #16 who I thought would go above certain players. Mavericks had a questionable draft picking Ham so early at #5, but also because they had a chance to get Jesus Brown but they passed for Ham. No one really had a terrible draft.
7. You've taken over the GM Awards. How has it gone? Do you feel greeme was justified in getting +13 for this job or was he getting overpaid?
No job is worth +13, but it takes a while to calculate all of the votes. Greeme posted the awards during round 2 of the playoffs which doesn’t allow a lot of people to get their votes in. The GM Awards will probably be posted tomorrow since I’ve been receiving more votes today.
8. The Chicago Bulls are in their CY. They got an extra year,2 top picks and 1 #2 pick who many believed should've gone first. Do they make it? Do they have any excuse for not making it if they fail? What moves do they need to do?
Of course they’re going to make it. There is no excuse to miss your CY with that much talent on a team. They tried snagging some big name FA’s, but they struck out so it’s back to the drawing board. They said they’re not willing to move Dakari which could come back to haunt him.
9. The Raptors came out of no where, for the most part, to win this past season's title. Obviously it's early but do they have the guns to repeat?
Sure they do. Mirotic is an absolute stud that led a team to a championship in his rookie season.(SMH Broph) They’re the best team in the league until another team wins a championship. I could totally see a repeat of the Grizz – Raptors matchup in the finals again. DJ did a great job building that team.
10. If you can switch teams with anyone, which team would it be? Why?
Eh, there is any team with overwhelming young talent and that’s the type ofteam I would switch with. The Magic are in great position with a few more year sof tanking and a ton of cap space. The Bulls have a lot of young talent, butthey’re in their CY. I’m happy with the Wolves.
11. Which team is in the worst position?
The Bucks are pretty shitty with nothing to look forward to except losing without their picks. Do we even have a Pacers GM?Blazers didn’t even send bids so IDK what’s going on there. There are no teams in complete disarray, but the Bucks are pretty close to it. No way of being competitive, but not able to tank because they don’t have their pick. They’re also have a GM who isn’t as active as before because he has a shitty team.
12. Tim Duncan is a lock for the HOF. Who else, if anyone, goes in with him?
Not sure, I’m pretty new to this league so I don’t really know any history. Someone mentioned Duncan as the GOAT in the retiring thread so I’m guessing he really is a lock. Don’t really know how well the other players played so yeah.
13. The Hawks at one point had, for a couple of seasons, a very stacked line up with multiple assets. The Knicks had a sick big 3 of Bron/Wade/Yao. Which was the most disappointing? What could that team have done better?
Definitely the Knicks, that big three is absolutely sick. It’s crazy that Bron hasn’t won a ring yet with those ratings. I’m not sure who else they had on their team of there was just a team that completely dominated. Without knowing that the only thing I could guess was that they needed more depth on the team. Maybe the big three’s contracts were just too large.
14. Is there anything you would like to see this league add?
No not really. The RC/AC system is much better than a cash system IMO. John has been running the leagues moothly. The only thing I could ask for was for trading to be easier, but I’ve been stubborn in some trade talks also so no room to complain.
15. What are your thoughts in FBB3? Are you getting it?
Nah, not getting it. $35 is too much for that game and it’ll be a lot more work for everyone involved. This league is running strong; there’s no need to start thinking about moving onto FBB3 yet.
