1- None, talk about your decision to leave over the controversy last season over your job as DC administrator. Was it more that you did not feel that Treasure Island wasn’t compensating you properly for it or was it another Play just being Play situation?
I left BBS because Marty didn't pay me for doing my DC duties. I checked DC's pretty often. There is really no way you can tell I checked unless I make a comment on a DC. Marty claimed I checked only opening day DC's. But then I showed him proof that I did check DC's after opening day and he still ignored it. My job as a DC mod was to make sure the correct people in MY OPINION were starting and to make sure no players were playing out of position. It was never my job to check cuts and to check to see if a DC was correct after a trade. There is no way for me to check that without having access to the game. If Marty wanted me to do more as a DC mod he should have told me. I'm still owed that +5 because I did the job that was asked of me. You can't just not pay someone. That was my issue with the whole situation. I checked DC's and I wasn't compensated for doing it. I came back because Marty apologized about the situation and I have never seen him apologize for anything. I also missed BBS.
Ed's note:Marty apologizing as commissioner took a lot of balls. But I'm sure Play left in order to avoid a Stewie and Brian where's my money deal.
Possible what-could-have-been confrontation
2- You seem to have a somewhat unofficial, unspoken rivalry with greeme, GM of the New Jersey Nets. For the newer GMs, where does this derive from and is it similar to the love/hate relationship with Ex-GM to I'm Different?
The Greeme rivalry stems from his garbage ass "BBS Most Valuable Players" articles. We would argue in those threads and the rivalry escalated from there. I honestly wouldn't even call it a rivalry. You have to be comparable to a person for it to be a rivalry and Greeme doesn't compare to me at all. Greeme has improve his gm skills but he uses the same formula all the time for his teams. I wouldn't necessary call that being a good gm. I have won with several different types of teams...inside, outside, fast, very fast slow, etc. Greeme can only win with outside shooters and defensive/rebounding bigs. Most GMs can only win with that. aar, Skillz and Magna Carta are the only guys that I can think of that can build teams besides the fast/outside, rebounding/defensive bigs model. I find it boring to use the same formula for success in sim leagues all the time. I prefer to switch it up and make it challenging for myself. My relationship with insane is much different than my relationship with Greeme. There was never a love/hate thing with me and Insane. We just talked shit over the boards to each other but usually we would be on instant messenger talking at the same time. Our shit talking was just a way to get our posting up. I still talk to insane more than any other sim league GM. I went to Seattle in October and took a 2 day trip to Vancouver and went to a few bars/clubs with Insane.
Ed's note:You can really see the bromance between Play and Insane in the last two sentences. I mean c'mon doesn't feel a little like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in 'Sleepless in Seattle'? Seattle? Romance? Nevermind.
Insane and Play sleepless in Seattle
3- You’ve butted heads with patriarch Commish SPENCER in the past in several versions and more recently with Treasure Island. How would you rate the job Chris has done in keeping BBS alive and one of the best sims around since taking the reins from Spencer?
Chris has done an exceptional job here. I'll give him that. I hate the fact that Chris is so stubborn though. As a commish you can't be that way. The commish is not always right. Marty gotta look at things objectively. It's either his way or the highway. Marty has exceeded my expectations tho and I look forward to seeing him grow as a commish.
Ed's note:Chris has really taken the role as top gun seriously since taking over BBS. While some of his decisions in firings and hirings have been questioned by many, he has kept a steady ship thus far. Bottomline, don't fuck with the Adam Silver of BBS.
Martinez the next Adam Silver
4- You’ve been known to have a thing for white girls. How would you rate these chicks in terms of hotness and wifey status? Mila Kunis, Kate Upton, Brooklyn Decker, Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johansson.
Scarlett Johansson - I've always loved Scarlett. One of the baddest women alive.
Jessica Biel - I had the biggest crush on Biel growing up. I tuned into 7th Heaven every week because of her.
Kate Upton - Upton is probably my favorite at the moment but shes slowing falling down my list.
Mila Kunis - Very overrated(yes I said it). I have never really had a thing for her at all. Pretty damn average if you ask me.
Brooklyn Decker - Never really understood the fuss about her. Very overrated, she knows that and that's why she settled for Andy Roddick.
Ed's Note:Could Play really say no to either of these bombshells? Overrated? I think not.
Kunis or Decker? Can you go wrong?
5- We see you raving about your guard Nate Wolters and his play this season. Can Wolters be a useful PG in this league with the right development, camps etc or is he just a career backup? Also, how high are you on the team’s autoed first round pick Ernie Skinner? Was it fortunate for your team that the big man fell to No. 10 and saw a boost in potential after his first TC?
Nate Wolters is already a useful PG in this league. Camps will just add to it. He is my franchise point guard and will lead us to the promised land. Calling him a career backup is flat out disrespectful. I'm not that high on Ernie Skinner. He will need camps and I don't have the time to add them to him. He will be a solid backup for my team though. I feel he was the correct selection at that spot. Skinner or Alec Pierce(the guy picked right after him). I usually go for players that can contribute right away if im picking within that range in a draft. I also RC/AC those type of guys right away.
Ed's Note:rcc picked Wolters as the #5 pick in the second round of the 2013 BBS Draft. So he actually might have gotten a steal before he resigned. Who knew?
Wolters puts on for South Dakota St and the Clippers
6- How much of a difference is there going to be between the transition of Broph drafts to SPENCER drafts? Will the fake players stick or will there need to be real players here and there to keep things interesting?
No difference at all. I never really experienced broph drafts. I did like the fact that Broph wasn't scared to just make top players "average" players or "busts". In Spencer drafts, if you are drafting in the top 5 or so, more than likely you will get a good player. It's too predictable at times with Spencer. I would love for Spencer to step outside of the box sometimes and just make some random ass ratings for players. We need to see some busts from Spencer. I know people look at notes for shit but at the same time I remember DeShawn Stevenson having a Michael Jordan comparison. LOL! And we know how he turned out...Notes are just notes sometimes. Players are making the transition from College/high school/international to the pros, their games have to adjust and their games can change completely at times. Notes should be used as a guideline but don't take notes to heart. I love fake player drafts...I fucking love them. It gives the draft guy more room to be creative and I love the little back-stories of the players. I hate retro and I don't think real players should be mixed in at all.
Ed's Note: DeShawn Stevenson getting MJ comparisons? Don't remember that but he did have wild ratings at one point and one version.
Perhaps the only thing Stevenson and MJ have in common: a black card
7- If you had to guess, in real life which three GMs have the least game to spit at females while at the club or the lounge? And vice versa, which three GMs can pick up no matter where they’re at or how hot she is? (You can’t select yourself for either question)
Least Game
kobe - First off he's from Alabama and he's always on the boards. Anytime I check the boards kobe is on and posting. I know he's not getting any pussy being on the boards all the time. I can guarantee Kobe is socially awkward and hes probably scared to get at girls when he's out...I know after he reads this he will post some pics with girls from his Myspace. But they will probably be pics of him and his cousins(like i said hes from Alabama)
Erbes - Any male who uses #frosted has no fucking game.
monkeyballz - He has some type of pokemon as his avatar...No way he's spitting game at females. He might get at females online on the Pokemon forums or world of Warcraft games but I can't see him getting at any females in a club.
Most Game
Nanzanator - I don't even have to witness it but I know Nanz has game. He's Peruvian and females love guys from South America and Europe. Nanz seems like a pretty outgoing guy from what I can tell on the boards.
steve - Steve seems like a good guy. I can see him getting at some bitches.
Magna Carta/@jeff - Both guys are from Boston and 2 of my favorite guys in this league. nuff said.
Shit its pretty hard to think of anyone else having game in this league.
Ed's Note:Couldn't agree more with the least game ones, still laughing about it to be honest. When is the last time Pokemon helped to pull in bitches? And I've seen Nanz's latest coup and I can attest he got some skills. Also, Jeff seems to get a ton of play where he's at. And also think Skillz needs some consideration, the way he talks GMs into doing some of his deals makes me think he can do the same with some chicks.
Seems like good reading material for our least category
8- You’ve had countless spats with GMs, some real and some it seems just for your entertainment. Is trolling an art for you or is it just for kicks and giggles? Also, is there anybody that’s remotely close on your level of trolling?
I troll everyday and all day. I love to get a reaction out of people, whether its on the boards or in real life. Trolling is an art, everybody can't pull it off. Skip Bayless pulls it off better than anyone. He's the ultimate troll and my favorite analyst/reporter. I troll for the kicks and giggles as well. I really enjoy seeing how a person reacts to some of the shit I say or do. I have my limits on trolling though. I won't troll someone on a personal or serious issue. Treasure Island is a great troll as well. He's one of 2 people(greeme being the other) that can really get at me with the trolling. I miss having Marty as a GM. His trolling gave me purpose in BBS. Right now I have no purpose here at all and its somewhat boring. Greeme has somewhat filled Marty's void but its not the same. kobe tries with his lame ass trolling but it has no affect at all. I wouldn't really even consider it trolling, Kobe is just fucking stupid.
Ed's note:I also think Martinez is the only troll worthy adversary for Play. Kobe wants to get on that level but most of his shit ends up being dumb it seems.
Play's trolling idol, Skip Bayless
9- Whos the most underrated player in the league right now? And who is the most overrated player currently in BBS?
Kyle Lowry is the most underrated player in the league. donatello2424 doesn't do shit with his team so Lowry gets overlooked by several GM's. Don was gifted Lowry and Rudy Gay to start this league and he hasn't really done shit with them at all. He was basically gifted Tibor Pleis as well, since broph started to hype him up over the boards(which is bullshit, draft creators shouldn't say shit about players) and gave don trade advice to not trade Pleis. Don is a good guy, I just hate the way he run his teams. The Hawks should have at least 2 titles by now. Milan Macvan is also very underrated. The most overrated player in the league is Andre Drummond by far. I'm tired of hearing about this role player. I guess he's a solid young player but he's been so over-hyped since he got into the league. Sorry Alex Len but Drummond is not a franchise player.
Ed's Note:Drummond being called most overrated is surprising considering his TCs and development. However, Play seems to be spot on with Lowry, as he's having a career year and second in the league in scoring[/b]
Drummond after hearing he's most overrated
10- If you had a choice between these random players: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Quincy Acy, Andre Drummond, Isaiah Austin, LaMarcus Aldridge or LeBron James, who would you start your team with? Or is there someone else not listed?
Why is LaMarcus Aldridge in this conversation? He's average. I would not start my team off with LeBron James as well. He's not a winner and you cannot win a title with him.(For the record I won 1 with him but Cenk led that team. I love Isaiah Austin but the monkeyballz really needs to RC and AC him out before next TC. I'm afraid that he's maxed out rating wise, which isn't a bad thing considering his numbers. WARRIORS GM PLEASE PUT SOME POINTS INTO AUSTIN! If you need advice on where to put them at PM me! Andre Drummond is a good talent but I don't like bigs that can't hit free throws and he's not a guy that can carry a team to a title.. DeMarcus Cousins>>>Andre Drummond. Acy is overrated. I would not start my team off with him. I would usually start my team off with a point guard and if I had to choose one it would be Kyle Lowry. But there is one player in this league that I would take over Lowry right now and its Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. I gave Magna Carta shit for drafting him, its was somewhat trolling but I didn't like that selection for him at all. MKG is easily the most valuable player in this league right now.
Ed's Note:MKG seems to be the perennial candidate on everyone's mind. Also, Harden may be missing some love on this list.
Yup, #1 on Play's List
11- Finally, your views are somewhat radical and tend to contradict the popular opinion at times. Is this on purpose or is there a way that we can understand Play more on your viewpoints?
My view is always the best opinion, fuck the "popular" opinion. Majority of the GM's in this league are sheep. They go along with whatever the Treasure Island says. I will always speak my mind around here. I fucking hate when a GM doesn't speak up when he notices the commish is in the wrong. When I quit last month, it kinda pissed me off that nobody spoke up for me besides Broph and to an extent Magna Carta. Anytime I see a commish in any league that I have been a part of try to screw over a GM, I always speak up, even if I don't like the guy or get along with him. When donatello2424 got fired in the last version of BBS for no reason. I spoke up for Don and told SPENCER that he was in the wrong. A lot of these guys need to grow some fucking balls around here. I hate beta males. Fucking submissive ass bitches. But anyways back to the question at hand my radical opinion is not on purpose, its how I usually feel. I try to look at everything objectively and look at it from both sides. I hate just going with the "popular" opinion. When I look at completed trades, I look at the teams and how will the trade affect the team in the long run and short term. I check their pick and cap situations out as well.
Ed's note:It's a little refreshing to see a GM not afraid to see things objectively and not just agree with the popular opinion. Seems like there's a lot of GMs in that boat where they agree with everyone just to fit in.
Play is different, kind of like 2 Chainz
I left BBS because Marty didn't pay me for doing my DC duties. I checked DC's pretty often. There is really no way you can tell I checked unless I make a comment on a DC. Marty claimed I checked only opening day DC's. But then I showed him proof that I did check DC's after opening day and he still ignored it.
