1. Your currently 14-8 with a potential MVP candidate in LMA. That said, is this about where you expected to be with this team or are they doing better/worse?
It is probably about where I expected to be, around a 65% winning percentage. LMA is better than I could have hoped for, that +3 TC really helped, and he is a high volume guy. However, Amare has kinda been disappointing, I expected a few more PPG and more RPG, even as a second option as it is an inside offense. I gave up 2 1sts for Azubuike after this question, and I really liked the move. Don't think the picks will be squat, and Azubuike is the starter we were missing: another guy that go out and score, as our oPPG is elite, top 2-3, but we couldn't score at an elite rate, we did much better this past sim with Kelenna, going 6-0. Excited for this team, however no PG is a concern, I have a leftover FA starting at PG, Brandon Knight is fucking trash, averages 3 TPG when he's a non-option in an inside/slow offense, pure trash.
2. Is there any moves out there for you to make? There's been some talk about how weak the trade scene is. Do you find this to be true?
There's always move to make, you just have to patience and have persistence. I was in talks with a lot of teams for a possible SG/SF upgrade, and ultimately decided to take Kelenna as he is a pretty good player on a bargain contract, yee. Think at this point a lot of teams are set on winning or losing, so not a lot of win now players will be switching hands, maybe later on in the season as teams get bored/close to trade deadline, but we shall see.
3. There were some controversial GM firings (quiting in play's situation). Do you feel like the cheato firing and play quitting situations should have been handled differently?
Play: maybe, cheato: No. I think the cheato thing ultimately worked itself out, guy stepped down after he was fired, so the point is moot about handling it differently. Marty is just trying to do what he thinks is best for the league, and there is nothing wrong with that. Hopefully cheato can come back later, he's a good addition when he has time. I think marty got a little stubborn with the play situation, yeah play probably was being stubborn too, but couldn't a compromise have been reached? Give play the AC for the year, then get rid of the DC mod, idk maybe marty was trying to make a point, but it just feels like the thing was blown out of proportion. Marty also didn't fire play as you said, he decided to step down, so yeah. Marty probably didn't use the kindest words when talking but it's whatever, let's all hold hands and grab some banderillas.
4. What's wrong with the Pacers and Rockets? Should they start looking to make trades to rebuild?
I think the Rockets just need a good starter to be a competent team. The bottom of the West is so bad, they can easily rebound. Dwight Howard is meh, very inefficient (I did offer for him though cause of his rebounding), Gasol is aging and I'm just not sure if having a dominant PG is a necessity any more: look at teams like Sac, Boston, Phoenix, and others. A PG who isn't a turnover whore and doesn't get beat on defense is much more important. I also don't think unless you have a really elite PG that he should be a scoring option, IDK, just some observations I saw last time I ran a league as far as difference in PPG from being an option to non option as a PG (if the offense is catered to guard play), and the results of teams here. As for Indiana, the East is rough, they've had injuries, but they still have talent, think they could be a 10-14 place team. Both have assets to rebuild if they want to, I think Erbes might should consider piecing out his assets and starting over, jmo.
5. Skillz maintains that Acy is the best player in the league. Is he? If not, who is?
Fuck Acy. LMA >>>>, nah Acy is definitely a top 5 player, definitely can make an argument as the best player due to percentages/volume. He is also probably one of the most valuable players in the league, as young as he is. Gonna be interesting if he tests FA, that would be a fun offseason
6. Are you ok with the Spencer/Broph switch? Do you foresee any issues coming from it?
No, I said it in the draft thread and I'll say it here: does he really know anything now that none of the good GMs don't know? Maybe where to camp certain players to increase ratings, or real potential but I think everything is already apparent. I like the restriction of not being able to trade for players he created, but it should really just be restricted to 2012/2013 prospects.
7. BBS has had a ton of new GM's, which has done the best job? Which has done the worst?
Gonna rehash what others have said, but alldaygb has been legit. Active, competent. Only issue is can he parlay his assets into an elite team? Traded 2 picks for Varejao recently, would like to see him pick up a star in the offseason to fortify that lineup. Worst? IDK, maybe clippers GM? Very big offseason for him, as he has the NYK '15 and '16. He could use those to get a nice complement to Davis. Also he traded me the CLE '15 which traves made pretty clear to me (I PM'd him before I traded for it) that he wanted it back. He could have used that CLE '15 to get another stud but I'll gladly trade it back to traves in a fair deal
8. Which teams needs to rebuild? Any moves, in general, that need to be made?
Cavs need to rebuild and they know it. They're a season or so away from having some oh-my-god-call-momma-into-the-kitchen-the-oven-is-on-fire contracts. They'll get their pick in the offseason, as I'm sure traves is eyeing Wiggins if Spence does indeed put him in the 2015 draft with the rest of the fakes. Bundy is itching to rebuild, but I'm not sure he should. He could make some moves to solidify his team, but I'm not gonna blame a new GM for wanting to tear it down. Outsourcing Harden for good pieces might be a good idea, think he could get pieces that better fit that team than Harden. I also have no clue what the Jazz are doing right now, they've lost Baron and Westbrook the past two offseasons, and Lin is expiring: UH OH!
9. I believe you were in BBS before. How have things changed from your prior run?
Well, a lot of GMs have changed, a lot of the ones that would troll or try to fuck with you are now gone (play, styro, hf, etc). I remember my first stint in BBS play would troll just about every thread I made/was in and would post "Hawks GM sucks", lol. Also when I first came in habes/mark/dan/others were still here, bunch of good GMs missing but we've added some throughout the year(s) (Damn, did I really join BBS as a freshman in college, and now about to graduate? ). These loss of GMs also has negated some of the banter, which was a big draw of BBS. There still some here and I'm not trying to say this isn't a great league, I like the GM core for the most part, but there were some good times. Also I have a lot less time, and I have found better time management to keep my attention longer, gonna be important going forward since starting in August/September I'll be in graduate school
10. Which GM's do you hate talking trade with?
Can't really think of any GMs that I hate talking trade with. Usually whenever there's elongated trade talks I can get something done. I rarely, rarely ever get a deal done with DBW no matter what league it is. Not sure why, kinda weird. DJ can sorta be difficult at times to deal with, I remember in v4 I was basically begging him to rape me for Eldridge Webb and he turned the deal down, and I was able to get Walt Frazier for less. Play was difficult to deal with sometimes with his "I'll get back to you" PM and then..yeah, never reply. Also game has a tendency to be gun shy at times, thus making it difficult
11. Who's coming out of the East/West? Who's going to win it all?
Kings and Pistons are my picks, and it doesn't matter who is coming out the East, Sac is winning it all, that team is just amazing. Only possible way they don't win it all is with injuries or some that FBB random shit, but 9/10 playoff sims I'm sure they'd win.
12. You wanted to rant about UK. Go ahead, have fun.
A lot of scrutiny from the fan base would be placed on Calipari if we hadn't won the title last year, that's just the way it is here. Still, this year has been wildly frustrating. Yeah, we won it all, but we still should never lose to Tennessee by 30 in basketball, that is down-right disgraceful. Also, fuck Tennessee, I hate everything about that god damn state. Fuck rocky top, fuck that puke orange color, fuck their stadium and fuck that dog, piece of shit mut. ANYWAY, yeah expectations were still kinda high, a team Noel/WCS/Goodwin/Poythress/Harrow with the return of Wiltjer and addition of Mays were supposed to have the talent to lead us at least to the sweet 16. What happens? Goodwin is out there pulling some kobe ass shit, hogging the ball, he is also very careless. Poythress isn't assertive enough and doesn't want anything to do with physical play. Harrow turns out to be a pussy, his stat line @ Tennessee: 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals. Uh, okay. Noel was the really only good thing about watching this team play and he goes down. The main thing separating this year from last is experience. The whole argument of lack of experience last year was horseshit, we had 3 of our top 6 back from a final four team, and another senior (Vargas) who was a good practice player. So what can we learn from this year? We need to start recruiting a few, maybe 1-2, multiple year players which can guide the massive turnover that will happen each year. I mean, I fully expect Noel/Goodwin/Poythress to go to the draft, and with Noel out WCS's stock will soar, so I'm beginning to think he will leave. Also not sure Harrow will be back, he may go play overseas of transfer. ANYWAY, the season isn't over, we just beat a decent Mizzouri team and still have a good shot at making the tournament, which at this point is all I'm asking for. Next year we should be scary, especially if EITHER one of Wiggins/Randle/Gordon come to an already stacked class.
13. Who is Jim Lahey?
Jim Lahey is the supervisor of Sunnyvale Trailer Park. He's an alcoholic and also involved in a homosexual relationship with the assistant trailer park supervisor: Randy (last name BoBandy). Character on a TV show titled trailer park boys. Almost always drunk and mixing the word shit and other derivatives into analagies/proverbs. I think the show is hilarious, I've watched the seasons more than a few times and still think they're funny. I also like the actor John Dunsworth, think he's a pretty cool guy so I decided to make my display name Jim Lahey (he was a former cop, but the boys fucked him over on Halloween 1977 and he got fired).
It is probably about where I expected to be, around a 65% winning percentage. LMA is better than I could have hoped for, that +3 TC really helped, and he is a high volume guy.
