1. Los Angeles Clippers - Los Angeles Clippers - Shabazz Muhammed SG 6'6'' 223 19 B B C C+ C+ A
Grade: A-
The Clippers might be the luckiest team in the league. They jumped from 6 to 2 in the lotto and then got to pick first overall for some reason because of the LB fiasco. But nonetheless they take advantage and draft Shabazz Muhammad who seemed to be the consensus #1 by draft time. At only 19 he comes in with a very polished game already. His rebounding will already be a huge plus at SG and can play SF because of his good rebounding too. B B scoring and should only get better. The future is bright in Clipperland with Davis and Bazz leading the way.
2. New Orleans Hornets via Philadelphia 76ers - Ben Mclemore SG 6'5'' 195 20 B C+ C C+ C- A
Grade: B+
And strangely enough the Hornets end up with the 2nd pick in the draft for the 2nd year in a row. They traded stud center Amare Stoudemire to Philly for the pick. They chose to go with Ben McLemore over Bennett and Smart who wouldn't have been bad choices either. I thought McLemore should have been rated a little higher but his notes seem to indicated he has great potential. Likes his notes say I expect McLemore to be a very, very good player just never great.
3. Chicago Bulls - Marcus Smart PG 6'4'' 200 19 B C C+ C+ C A
Grade: B+
Bulls were upset they fell from 2 to 4 in the lotto but ended up at 3 because of the LB situation. And I think they get who they need here. Smart has sexy ratings and while his notes weren't great if he is camped correctly I think he will be really good. Never going to be a three point shooter but I think he should develop a good jump shot over time. And the rest of his game is good already so yea good pick.
4. Milwaukee Bucks* - Anthony Bennett PF 6'8'' 240 19 B+ C+ D C C+ A
Grade: INC/No GM
Bucks were suppose to have the first pick but ended up 4th because of what LB did. But I think they end up with a stud regardless. I like Bennett a lot had him ahead of Smart on my list. Sucks he can't play SF, but if he is camped early and has a decent TC he could develop into a stud scorer. And while his defense doesn't look like it will ever be good his rebounding has a chance to come along nicely.
5. 5. Golden State Warriors - Isaiah Austin C 7'1'' 225 20 B- C+ D B- B- A
Grade: C+
Warriors just miss out on the big 4 of the draft and decide to take on chance on Isaiah Austin, who was a late entry into the draft because of the injury to Nerlens Noel. Austin can't block shots so obviously not as much intrigue as Noel. But still he looks to be a very good offensive player and at B- his rebounding has a chance to become very good as well. But I'm not sure if the Warriors have time to wait on Austin for develop which is why I think Zeller may have been the better pick here.
6. Seattle SuperSonics - Victor Oladipo SG 6'5'' 210 21 C C+ C+ A+ C+ B
Grade: B
I thought the Sonics would go with Zeller, but with their frontcourt already solidified they go with perhaps the most BBS ready SG in Oladipo. Offense could use work obviously, but just surround him with scorers and don't worry about camping his offense imo. His defense is already great, he should get a lot of steals and his rebounding is amazing as well for a SG. Could also play SF effectively as well.
7. Memphis Grizzlies - Cody Zeller PF 7'0'' 240 20 B C- D B B B
Grade: A-
I know this is my own pick so don't want to seem to biased, but I love this pick for me. I thought he would for sure go at 5 or 6. Zeller is probably the most BBS ready player and even though his potential shouldn't be great, he doesn't need much as he is already very good. Grizzlies get a PF they hope can start alongside Andre Drummond for a long time.
8. Minnesota Timberwolves - LeBryan Nash SF 6'7'' 220 21 B+ C D C+ C+ B
Grade: B-
Timberwolves picked was auto'd and they ended up with super jumper LeBryan Nash. His ratings look nice but it seems to be all jumping judging from his notes. He could definitely use his camps right away and a nice TC. He needs to have nice potential obviously if he is ever going to become a great player. Though with his already solid ratings a slight bump in those could give him a ton of value.
9. Washington Wizards - Christian Watford PF 6'8'' 215 21 B C+ C C+ B- B
Grade: A-
Wizards end up with a player I really like here. I thought Watford is who should have gone at 8 and maybe ahead of Oladipo. But he falls to the Wizards who already have a solid core intact. If they camp Watford right away he could be really nice. That was my plan and should be the plan on whoever got him. Ratings are already great so don't expect him to have much potential. Will need his camps and not to have a bad TC early on and he should be a very nice player.
10. Los Angeles Lakers - Jamaal Franklin SG 6'5'' 205 21 B+ C+ C C+ B- B
Grade: B
Risky pick by the Lakers as it seems Franklin will always have a turnover problem. But maybe not and if he doesn't it sounds like he will be a stud as the rest of his game is great. His notes say he can do everything on the court so I think he will end up being a very good player but the turnovers will always hold him back a bit in terms of trade value at least.
11. Milwaukee Bucks - Steven Adams C 7'0'' 243 19 B- C C+ C C+ A
Grade: INC/No GM
Adams is another risky pick in which he is very raw. His offense looks like it could be solid, but the C defense is a real turn off. And not a much better rebounder either. But if he does have great potential, which is a good possibility he could become a nice role player IMO just never going to be anything special.
12. Toronto Raptors - Michael Carter-Williams PG 6'5'' 175 21 C+ C+ B+ B C- A
Grade: B+
I figured MCW would go a little higher just because he is a PG and has really solid ratings. But his notes were sort of meh. The turnover issue is the big problem, other then that his game is fine really. Excellent rebounding and defense and while a bit raw on offense he has the chance to become a good scorer as well.
13. Chicago Bulls - Alex Abrines SG 6'5'' 190 20 C A+ C- B- C- B
Grade: B-
Interesting pick here, didn't expect Abrines to go lotto but I could see why someone could like him a lot. Awesome jump shot and three point shot obviously and should be a solid defender and rebounder for a SG. The thing is it doesn't seem he will ever score in volume which really sucks since he can shoot the lights out. Maybe if he is camped right he can become more of a volumre scorer.
