1. Los Angeles Clippers - Anthony Davis PF 6'10'' 220 19 B C- D+ B+ C+ A
Grade: A
The Clippers could have took a gamble and went with Drummond here but they took the safe pick in Davis. And who can blame them, that is probably who I would have took if I had the first pick as well. Davis is the prototype PF. He does everything well and should be a franchise player for years to come. Could struggle at first because of his lack of strength and rebounding, but if he has good potential those should fix themselves.
2. New Orleans Hornets - Andre Drummond C 6'10'' 270 18 B+ D- F+ C+ B+ A
Grade: A
The GM at #2 had perhaps the easiest decision in the draft.. Just draft whichever big man doesn't go #1. The Hornets already have a stud PF in Griffin and Drummond compliments him very well. Drummond comes in already a better rebounder than Griffin and should be able to block 2-3 shots per game. So while Griffin does all the scoring, Drummond blocks the shots and rebounds. Perfect fit for him imo, if he develops the right way the Hornets could be scary.
3. Memphis Grizzlies - Bradley Beal SG 6'3'' 207 19 C+ B+ B- C+ C- A
Grade: B+
The Grizzlies had to decide between Beal and MKG basically. And since they thought Beal had the better potential they took him. While MKG comes in more ready to play the Grizzlies don't really need that as they should be tanking for a few more years. Beal should fit well with Irving in the backcourt. And if both develop like they should it could create one of the best backcourts in the league.
4. Boston Celtics - Michael Kidd-Gilchrist SF 6'7'' 205 19 B- C C A B- A
Grade: B
Boston fell a couple of spots and missed out on Davis and Drummond but they get a great player to play in the frontcourt with Smith and Monroe. While MKG might not have the potential of some of the other players in the draft he comes in with A defense and B- rebounding so nothing to really worry about there. His offense is definitely a work in progress but he's only 19, if camped wisely he can be a very good player IMO.
5. Washington Wizards - Damian Lillard PG 6'2'' 190 21 C+ A- B- C- D+ A
Grade: A-
This is a good fit for Lillard and the Wizards imo. They picked up a center to build around in last year's draft and they get the PG to go with him in this year's draft. Lillard should come in avg. 20+ ppg. While his defense and rebounding will never be good his scoring should outweigh that. If he doesn't have the potential I think he does that might not be the case though.
6. Los Angeles Lakers - Harrison Barnes SF 6'8'' 223 20 B- B- C- B- C A
Grade: B+
The Lakers end up getting who they want. Barnes is a nice consolation prize for not having a top 5 pick. He does everything pretty well, the question is whether or not he has the potential to become a great player in the league.
7. Philadelphia 76ers - Meyers Leonard C 7'0'' 245 20 B- C F+ B- C A
Grade: C+
The right pick for Philly imo but I dont think Leonard is the best player available here. I had the 76ers taking Leonard in my mock, but I think Ross is the better player and will be the better player over their careers. But having said all that you can't really blame the 76ers for taking Leonard since they need a big man. Leonard is raw but he should have tons of potential if he doesn't then this pick is terrible.
8. San Antonio Spurs - Thomas Robinson PF 6'9'' 240 21 C+ C- D C+ B A
Grade: C
This is who I had the Spurs taking in my mock and I think it's a good pick. Robinson doesn't look great right now, but if he has the potential that his notes hint to then I think he has a good chance of being a 20 ppg and 10+ rpg guy. He should at least be a good rebounder throughout his career if his offense doesn't develop.
9. Denver Nuggets - Terrance Ross SG 6'6'' 195 21 B- B C- B- C A
Grade: A-
Steal for the Nuggets imo. Ross was kind of lost behind the other wings, but he looks just as good and his notes say he has very good upside.. So not sure why more GMs didn't like him. His jumping is probably very high, but he also looks to be a decent shooter and rebounder. As long as he isn't a turnover whore he should be great.
10. Seattle Supersonics - Royce White PF 6'8'' 270 21 B- D+ B+ C B- B
Grade: B+
I like this pick by the Sonics, it is a gamble but there is no one behind him who jumps out at you. Should be interesting to watch his development. Hopefully he gets camped correctly and becomes a good player. Im worried he might be a turnover whore at PG though.
11. Phoenix Suns - Jared Sullinger C 6'9'' 280 20 C+ C D B- B+ B
Grade: A-
Nice pick by the Suns here. The B scouted is what scared most away from Sully probably. He already is a very good rebounder and while he will never block shots he will be able to hold his own down low. If he has any sort of potential he could develop into a very nice player.
12. Milwaukee Bucks - Dion Waiters SG 6'4'' 210 20 C+ B B C D+ A
Grade: B+
Waiters is forgotten about amongst the other wings, but he should be a solid player over his career. He can score and will give you a lot of assists at SG. I don't see him ever becoming anything great though.
13. Orlando Magic - Tony Wroten PG 6'5'' 205 19 B- C- B- B C B
Grade: B
Decent pick by the Magic. Not a huge fan of Wroten, but he is young and already has good ratings so just a little bump in ratings he could be quite valuable. He could have turnover problems though that could scare some GMs away.
