I'm pretty sure Gruden would have an NFL without any penalties.

So many people seem to disagree with you football guru's. Mike Florio counts as "many people"?

He's the statistical leader in nearly every receiving category for the best franchise in the NFL. Best blocking WR the NFL has seen. so you know the blocking capabilities of every WR in the last 90+ years?

www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/17512776/heres-hoping-steelers-great-ward-knows-time-to-quit-is-now- "There will be plenty of argument about if Ward is a Hall of Famer. To me, there should be no discussion. He should be a lock. Ward won two rings, was a Super Bowl MVP, and leads perhaps the most storied franchise in the NFL in career catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Maybe as important has been Ward's longevity. He turns 36 next week and played 14 NFL seasons, most at an extremely high level. Only recently has Ward become average. Mostly, he always played hard. He always played well. He always played tough."

Ward is definitely in the conversation. I am assuming he will get in. He isn't a first ballot guy so he is going to be going up against guys like TO and Moss after a couple of years on the ballot. Both of them are getting in before him. After that he will probably get in, but there remains a chance that plenty of other talented receivers come into play as well.
At this point in time, 1000 career catches will get you in IMO. It won't after a few more years though

I feel like Ward was elite for 3 years and a very good guy for about 3 more. Being a Steeler record holder, winning, great blocker, etc all give him a big boost though.

TO definitely had a lot of flaws. He dropped way too many passes as well. Having said that, you also have to realize he scored 68 more TDs than Ward... I think when people look back when these guys are coming on the ballot it will be easier for most to remember how dominate the guy was. If you put two career highlight reels up of Ward and TO, most guys are going to take TO. Ward fit the Steelers system almost perfectly, but TO is one of the most talented WRs to ever play the game.
