Boston Celtics
1st Overall: Bennett Grooms PF 6'10'' 225 19 C+ B D+ B+ C+ A
2nd Round, 21st Pick: Marvin Haynes C 7'0'' 230 20 C+ D- C C+ B- B
Grade: B-
Grooms looks like a great big man, but John has been teasing that he would be building an Acy stopper and the notes strongly indicate that it's Jerald Alexis.
As good as Grooms looks, can you imagine two sick steals/blocks guys like MKG and Alexis on the same team?
Frankly, I'm quite pleased that the Celtics decided on Grooms. An MKG/Alexis duo would be very tough to stop and I'm happy Alexis is out West.
Haynes looks like a solid second round selection, but who knows?
L.A. Lakers
2nd Overall: Jerald Alexis SF 6'7'' 225 20 C+ B C A B+ B
24th Overall: Allen Cato PG 6'4" 197 21 C+ C C B- D A
2nd Round, 1st Pick: Bert Cross C 6'10'' 235 19 B- C- C B- C B
Grade: A-
I love the Jerald Alexis pick. He's going to be a gamechanger.
However, I think that the Cato pick is awful. He has basically no chance of being better than a poor backup.
Despite his A potential, the D rebounding is a killer and the C handles make it seem like he just won't be any good.
Cross is a good 2nd rounder at age 19 with A potential. He's probably a better prospect than Cato.
Philadelphia 76ers
3rd Overall: Edmundo Kimbrough C 7'0'' 245 21 B+ C- D- B- B A
2nd Round, 5th Pick: Griffin Chandler SG 6'2'' 188 20 C+ A- C C D C
Grade: A
Pretty easy draft for the 76ers. Third overall pick and he gets whoever is leftover from Alexis and Grooms.
Kimbrough is a great fit in their inside offense with Drummond and Beech. They have a phenomenal frontcourt to work with going forward.
It will be interesting to see what direction the new GM takes the team in.
Chandler is not a very good 2nd rounder, but it's the 2nd round.
Miami Heat
4th Overall: Berry Arrmentrout C 7'6'' 350 20 B D F- B B+ B
11th Overall: Stephon Baly C 7'1'' 255 19 C D+ C B+ C+ B
12th Overall: Terrell Aridge SF 6'7'' 215 19 B C C- B C B
2nd Round, 11th Pick: Peyton Robinson SG 6'5'' 229 22 C C C- C C- A
Grade: C
I'm not a big fan of the Heat's output here.
Other than Aridge, I think that their picks were fairly conservative.
I like the Aridge pick because of the bonus RCs/AC and while I think that Arrmentrout and Baly are probably a good fit for their team, neither have superstar potential.
I think that the Heat could have done a lot more with these picks and didn't capitalize.
Cleveland Cavaliers
5th Overall: Taylor DeBernardi PF 6'10'' 235 19 B- A- C C- C A
2nd Round, 5th Overall: Braxton Beverley PG 5'6'' 150 23 C C+ B- A- C- B
Grade: A
I love this draft for the Cavs.
After John made a mistake and made DeBernardi eligible to play SF, I'm pretty shocked that he wasn't the obvious 4th overall pick. Musta ends up having him fall into his lap. He should be a nice offensive player at SF and looks to have huge upside.
Braxton Beverley is a really nice looking second rounder, even though he's tiny.
L.A. Clippers
6th Overall: Arnaud Flamen SF 6'8'' 215 20 A- B- B- C+ C B
15th Overall: Sandy Cummins SG 6'6'' 200 18 C+ C+ C+ C C A
18th Overall: Adolfo Saez SF 6'10" 225 22 C+ C C B- A- B
22nd Overall: Efran Menchaca PG 6'1'' 190 19 C+ B- C C+ D+ C
28th Overall: Darius Mazza SF 6'6'' 225 18 C+ B B- C+ C C
2nd Round, 7th Pick: Scott Bernal C 7'2'' 254 22 C+ C+ D+ B- C+ B
Grade: B
There are some picks here that I really like and others that I don't.
I really like the Saez pick. I would've taken him top-10 and I actually had two deals for him that would have landed him, but Father's Day festivities prevented it.
The Cummins pick is high risk/high reward, but he's 18 and has A potential, so I think he could end up being a B B B C C C type, which is nice.
Flamen's notes basically say that he's a dud with nice ratings, but I won't question Play because his history of drafting good players speaks for itself.
Mazza looks solid as well and Bernal is a good 2nd round pick.
New Orleans Hornets
7th Overall: Dan McMinn PG 20 6'3'' 200 B- A- A C C B
29th Overall: Thomas Gordon PG 6'1'' 180 21 C+ C+ C+ C+ C C
2nd Round, 28th Pick: Brent Diaz PF 6'9'' 253 22 C+ C C B+ C+ B
Grade: A+
Going to toot my own horn here because this grade could have just as easily been an F- had McMinn not lucked out in the random draw.
I got a bit lucky with which randomized attributes I got to assign and he looks studly. Has B- inside and an 85 inside rating, which means his jumping and strength must be low.
He could end up being B A A+ C C B after one TC, which would be unreal.
Gordon had great notes, but not so great ratings. He'll be a decent backup.
Diaz had no notes and is a late 2nd rounder who has good ratings.
Utah Jazz
8th Overall: Jim Gingerich SF 6'6'' 234 19 B- B- C+ C+ B- B
2nd Round, 8th Pick: Nathan Perry SG 6'3'' 204 22 C C C C+ C- A
Grade: B
Gingerich is a very nice pick at 8th. He has nice ratings and had good notes. Really doesn't have any holes in his game and fits the Jazz's needs.
The big question is whether the Jazz made the right move by keeping the pick rather than trading it for an established player.
Gingerich needs to have a good TC or the Jazz could be in serious jeopardy of getting CY'd.
Denver Nuggets
9th Overall: Don Schoenfield PF 6'11'' 215 22 C+ C+ C- C+ A C
21st Overall: Cletus Clayton SG 6'5'' 210 22 F- A+ C+ C+ D+ C
24th Overall: Lawerence Metzier PF 6'10'' 245 23 C+ C+ C+ C+ C+ A
2nd Round, 9th Overall: Harrison Best SF 6'11'' 251 22 C+ C+ C+ B C B
Grade: C+
I gave the Nuggets a C+ because of Metzier having so many C+s in his ratings.
However, this is a hodgepodge of role players.
Clayton likely has 100 jump shot and 3 points, but the rest of his game is horrible.
Schoenfield seems to be a one trick pony
Metzier is boom or bust.
Harrison may have the nicest ratings of all of them and he's a second rounder!
Weird picks.
Minnesota Timberwolves
10th Overall - Enrique Schenk SG 6'5'' 213 20 C+ B+ D+ C C- A
2nd Round, 10th Pick - Zachary Price SG 6'5'' 204 19 C C C+ C D A
Grade: F
Another year, another auto'd pick... Not much else to say.
Orlando Magic
13th Overall - Kang-Dae Hwangbo SG 6'2'' 180 44 B B C B- C C
19th Overall - Julian Jeannette C 6'11'' 252 22 C C- D B- B- A
26th Overall - Frank Rossi C 6'11'' 285 22 B- C+ C B- C+ B
2nd Round, 13th Pick - Kenyon Curran SF 6'7'' 221 22 C+ C+ C C+ C A
Grade: NC
Very hard to grade this without seeing how Kang-Dae ends up. He's just such a wildcard.
As for the other picks... Rossi looks very nice ratings-wise as a late 1st pick. Jeannette could be good and Curran looks solid for a 2nd rounder.
Kang-Dae Hwangbo is really the ultimate risk/reward draftee and we'll see if he's the real deal.
Portland Trailblazers
14th Overall: Mateen Colliton SG 6'5'' 195 22 B A- C C C C
2nd Round, 3rd Pick: Lloyd Lasater SF 6'6'' 210 22 C B+ C B C+ B
Grade: B+
Colliton's ratings don't look very good, especially with the C potential, but his notes were awesome. He could be a 20 ppg guy immediately and although he won't play defense, Greeme will maximize having him.
Lasater doesn't seem to have any weaknesses other than poor inside scoring.
Greeme seems to already be on the right track.
Sacramento Kings
16th Overall: John Biasone C 7'3'' 240 20 C+ D+ C- B- C A
2nd Round, 15th Pick: Alan Madsen SG 6'5'' 183 22 C C C C+ C- B
Grade: C
Very average picks here.
Their second rounder is a total bum, but Biasone looks like he could be a solid shot blocking center.
He was basically hired while his team was on the clock, so it's hard to fault him for a hasty pick.
New York Knicks
17th Overall: Trey Adorno PG 6'6'' 205 23 A D C- B- C D
2nd Round, 17th Pick: Aaron Levy SF 6'7'' 220 21 B C+ D+ C D+ B
Grade: A-
Would have been an A if not for Levy, whose rebounding will hinder him from having success at SF.
Adorno had pretty good notes and will be a very interesting player in an inside offense.
However, Adorno becomes pretty useless if he has a bad TC.
Still, definitely worth the risk at 17th overall.
Detroit Pistons
20th Overall: Samuel Schmaltz PF 6'7'' 200 18 B F+ C C+ C B
2nd Round, 22nd Pick: Nick West SF 6'7'' 240 19 C- C D C- D B
Grade: D
Schmaltz had awful notes and West is completely useless. Bad draft.
Toronto Raptors
25th Overall: Zachary Keefe PF 6'8'' 224 21 A- C- C- C C B
2nd Round, 26th Pick: Carl Tyne PG 6'4'' 200 22 C C C+ B C- A
Grade: B+
I like these picks.
Keefe could be a nice backup 3/4 and Tyne has pretty good ratings for a really late pick.
DJ often lands late steals, so we'll see if that's the case again.
New Jersey Nets
27th Overall: Jonathon Fizer SG 6'5'' 201 23 C+ B+ C B D+ B
2nd Round, 27th Pick: Rocky Podoloff SG 6'4'' 224 21 C+ B C+ C+ D- C
Grade: F
Auto'd pick. Not a good start for a new GM.
The remainder of the teams selected only in the 2nd round.
1st Overall: Bennett Grooms PF 6'10'' 225 19 C+ B D+ B+ C+ A
2nd Round, 21st Pick: Marvin Haynes C 7'0'' 230 20 C+ D- C C+ B- B

24th Overall: Allen Cato PG 6'4" 197 21 C+ C C B- D A
2nd Round, 1st Pick: Bert Cross C 6'10'' 235 19 B- C- C B- C B
Grade: A-
I love the Jerald Alexis pick. He's going to be a gamechanger.
However, I think that the Cato pick is awful. He has basically no chance of being better than a poor backup.

Chandler is not a very good 2nd rounder, but it's the 2nd round.
Miami Heat

11th Overall: Stephon Baly C 7'1'' 255 19 C D+ C B+ C+ B
12th Overall: Terrell Aridge SF 6'7'' 215 19 B C C- B C B
