Potential Free Agents: East Edition
Boston Celtics
Eddy Curry C 30 6'11'' 285 A- C D B+ C+ C
Eddy Curry C 53 33.5 23.4 8.8 1.3 0.7 2.4 1.6 .490 .801 .000
Greg Monroe C 23 6'11'' 247 B- C C B B B
Greg Monroe C 54 19.5 8.3 6.3 1.9 0.9 0.4 1.1 .486 .819 .000
Steve Nash PG 39 6'3'' 195 C A A C D+ C
Steve Nash PG 53 31.6 12.9 3.0 8.8 1.6 0.1 2.3 .498 .833 .472
A lot of important players are expiring for the Celtics this off-season. Eddy Curry, who has been great for them since coming over from Milwaukee in a trade, is avg. 23.4 ppg, 8.8 rpg and 2.4 bpg on great %s. Awesome numbers, but with his age I see him returning to the Celtics most likely on a big one or two year deal. Monroe is sort of the forgotten man in the Celtics frontcourt but he is really nice, if he doesn’t resign for cheap I don’t know if the Celtics will be able to keep him. Nash, Lester Hudson and Tony Allen are also good expiring for them. Big free agency for the Celtics.
Miami Heat
Danilo Gallinari SF 25 6'10'' 225 C+ A D C C C
Danilo Gallinari SF 58 39.2 15.0 6.3 2.3 1.2 0.3 2.1 .490 .905 .528
Nicolas Batum SF 24 6'8'' 200 B- B C- B+ C B
Nicolas Batum SF 45 21.8 8.5 3.8 1.6 0.5 0.2 0.9 .444 .793 .451
Yeah not much to see here for the Heat as new GM gp decided to trade away Andrew Bynum, Tyson Chandler, and Ben Gordon for his firsts and a few decent prospects. So they just have a bunch of shitty expiring for the most part. Gallinari is still young and can really shoot. The Heat could end up trading him as he would be a great backup SF in an outside offense. Batum has been a disappointment in the league but his ratings are still decent. Batum will probably go for the LLE or Min in FA and Gallinari could potentially get a few MLE offers.
New Jersey Nets
Tyson Chandler C 31 7'1'' 235 B+ C- C- A B+ D
Tyson Chandler C 53 33.9 12.0 12.2 1.8 1.0 3.8 1.8 .447 .706 .000
Paul Millsap C 28 6'8'' 245 B- C D A- B C
Paul Millsap C 55 23.7 8.5 7.3 1.5 0.7 1.5 0.7 .420 .715 .000
The Nets recently acquired Chandler in a trade hoping that he would improve them but they have gotten worse it seems. Chandler is a monster on the boards and blocks a lot of shots if he tests the FA market he will get a nice contract. He will probably get a contract similar to that of Darko Milicic. Which if you can surround him with cheap contract players then its not so bad, but definitely a risk. Millsap is a borderline starter/really good backup. Still relatively young he should garner a good amount of interest in FA. 2-3 year deal around 7 mil per seems about right for him.
New York Knicks
Eddie Griffin PF 31 6'10'' 220 C+ B- D A- B- D
Eddie Griffin PF 51 18.6 3.7 5.0 0.8 0.5 1.0 0.6 .416 .690 .333
Not much to see here. Only shitty expiring for the Knicks this year. Griffin will always have a role in the league as a backup big. He will go for the MLE again most likely in free agency. Hilton Armstrong and Guillermo Diaz also expiring they are some other decent backups.
Orlando Magic
Leon Powe PF 29 6'8'' 240 B D+ D+ B- B- D
Leon Powe PF 40 14.3 5.2 3.7 0.9 0.4 0.7 0.8 .443 .642 .000
Jamal Crawford SG 33 6'5'' 175 C+ A- B- C+ C- C
Jamal Crawford SG 64 24.6 8.8 3.5 2.3 0.9 0.1 1.0 .442 .828 .424
Basically ditto what I said about the Nets. Though they’re shitty expiring are a little better. Powe is really a third stringer on a great team but he has a place in the league definitely. Crawford’s a solid backup guard though only 8.8 ppg in 24.6 mpg isn’t that good for him. These two guys will definitely find homes next year if the Magic don’t resign them.
Philadelphia 76ers
Amare Stoudemire C 30 6'10'' 245 A D+ C- B+ B C
Amare Stoudemire C 55 33.9 21.1 9.6 3.0 1.5 1.3 1.6 .479 .625 .000
Samuel Dalembert C 32 6'11'' 250 C+ D D- A B+ C
Samuel Dalembert C 60 23.1 8.8 7.2 1.7 0.8 2.5 1.2 .442 .569 .000
Yaroslav Korolev SF 26 6'9'' 203 B- C+ C A C C
Yaroslav Korolev SF 40 19.3 3.1 3.0 1.5 0.9 0.8 0.3 .425 .756 .100
Two of the better big men in this free agency class could come from the same team. Though Amare is having a down year he is still a stud and should get the max if not close to it. And Dally is a shot blocking and rebounding specialist. Could start on some teams and is a great backup on really good teams. He will probably be getting a 1-2 year deal with about 10+ mil per. And Koro is sort of the wing version of Dally. He will always have value b/c of his defense. Will be interesting to see what type of contract he gets.
Washington Wizards
Anderson Varejao C 30 6'10'' 230 B- C- D- A A- D
Anderson Varejao C 51 31.8 12.3 9.9 1.5 1.0 2.9 1.1 .427 .682 .000
Gordon Hayward SF 23 6'8'' 211 B- B+ C+ B- C C
Gordon Hayward SF 47 25.9 10.5 4.4 3.1 0.7 0.2 1.3 .449 .813 .367
Keeping Varejao should be a big priority for the Wizards. They are struggling a bit this season and next year is there contract year. He is a stud defender and rebounder and that anchor that really every good team needs. Hayward looks like he is a few camps away from looking really good. The Wizards would love to keep him for cheap I’m sure, but I wonder if a team with cap will give him a nice contract and hope he develops into something with camps.
Atlanta Hawks
Tibor Pleis C 23 7'1'' 235 C+ B C A B+ B
Tibor Pleis C 59 37.2 14.2 12.3 2.5 1.5 4.2 1.4 .426 .815 .346
Pleis is the only big expiring for the Hawks though they have a few backups expiring as well. Pleis is a good example of a player trying to play for a contract lol. After his first 3 seasons were rather average, Pleis has decided to turn into a rebounding and shot blocking monster this year. At first I thought it was a mirage but he has kept it up all year. FG% could be better, but with those rebounding and shot blocking #s you don’t really need scoring from him. His first 3 years he definitely wasn’t worth a max, but they was he is playing this year he is. I wonder what the Hawks will do.
New Orleans Hornets
Carlos Boozer C 32 6'9'' 280 B C- C A- B C
Carlos Boozer C 51 29.8 11.3 9.3 2.0 0.8 0.6 1.0 .408 .740 .000
Goran Dragic PG 27 6'4'' 180 B- B+ B- B+ C- D
Goran Dragic PG 51 8.9 3.6 1.5 1.0 0.5 0.0 0.3 .429 .765 .371
The Hornets are another team that is rebuilding and just has a bunch of shitty expiring. Boozer is a good backup on a winning team so he will find a place somewhere next year easily. And Dragic had his career year last year and got paid 9 mil, but he hasn’t really played at all this year. With the lack of good PGs going around I’m sure he will be getting quite a few bids come free agency time.
Chicago Bulls
Derrick Favors C 21 6'10'' 245 B D+ D- A- B A
Derrick Favors C 19 26.6 15.4 8.1 1.4 0.7 1.1 0.9 .450 .669 .000
Brandon Jennings PG 24 6'1'' 169 C A- B B C- C
Brandon Jennings PG 54 21.0 8.0 2.7 3.7 0.7 0.1 1.6 .482 .940 .432
Favors was 2nd overall pick a few years back and I guess it’s safe to call him a bust for going that high, but if he has camps he could still be nice. It’s going to be interesting to see what kind of deal he gets, if he had camps I would take a chance on him. Not too big of a chance though lol. Jennings proved to be a bit of a turnover whore as a starting PG but he can really shoot and could be a really good backup so he will find a place on a team next year I think.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Emeka Okafor C 30 6'10'' 252 B+ D+ D A- B D
Emeka Okafor C 52 33.8 16.6 11.0 1.2 1.0 1.4 1.0 .469 .607 .000
The Cavaliers have been one of the big disappointments this year. There starting 5 could match up with anyone, but they just have no depth. With the Cavs wanting to get their pick back and rebuild I doubt they will bring Emeka back, though it may be best to just wait it out another year instead of getting raped for just one of your picks back. If Cavs don’t resign him Emeka will definitely be pursued by many.
Detroit Pistons
Kendrick Perkins C 28 6'10'' 285 B- C- D+ B+ B+ D
Kendrick Perkins C 56 33.9 12.1 12.1 1.8 0.6 3.5 1.5 .457 .698 .000
Andre Iguodala SG 29 6'6'' 207 B+ B C+ A- C F
Andre Iguodala SG 56 38.9 16.9 7.9 3.6 1.4 0.5 2.1 .444 .793 .371
Two starters expiring for the Pistons so this will be a big free agency for them as well. Perkins rebounding and shot blocking is right up there with the best in the league. He will definitely receive a lot of offers if he decides to test the market. Iggy is really solid, that’s probably the best way to describe him. The Pistons need to bring him back for cheap, because I don’t think he is worthy of any sort of good contract. Especially with them having to pay to bring back Perkins. Jameson Curry also expiring he is really good despite the ratings.
Indiana Pacers
DeMarcus Cousins C 22 6'11'' 292 A- C D B+ B+ B
DeMarcus Cousins C 57 31.9 19.4 10.2 1.5 1.0 2.3 2.3 .493 .731 .100
Greg Oden C 25 7'0'' 250 B- C D A- A- C
Greg Oden C 57 31.8 10.9 12.1 1.4 0.8 2.4 1.7 .423 .795 .000
This is a huge free agency for the Pacers as they really need to bring back both Cousins and Oden since they don’t have their pick until 2018. If they lose one of these guys it could get ugly in Indiana as they really don’t have anything to trade to get any sort of talent back. CP3 for Arenas and Green was good in terms of production definitely though they need to follow that up by resigning both of these guys, but they will need to be careful so close to the HC.
Milwaukee Bucks
Danny Granger SF 30 6'8'' 225 B+ A- C B- C C
Danny Granger SF 57 36.1 17.7 6.1 2.1 1.1 0.6 2.1 .448 .730 .366
Another rebuilding team with shitty expiring. Not much to say here. Granger can really put up points so I’m sure he will get plenty of offers. Great scorer to bring off the bench.
Toronto Raptors
Dorell Wright SG 27 6'7'' 200 B B- C+ B- C D
Dorell Wright SG 49 28.4 15.5 4.8 3.5 0.9 0.2 2.3 .425 .755 .393
Again, shitty expiring on a rebuilding team. This season might get Wright paid a few mil next year he has put up nice scoring #s.
