A sit-down with the commish

The reticent and rarely interviewed commish agreed to sit down and chat at the beginning of the new version. Why did we restart? What does the future hold? Why does Spencer love DJ? You can find out the answers to all that and more.
1. Let's talk about the restart - why did you decide to restart the league? Where you worried that gms wouldn't continue? Were you surprised by the number of gms that didnt continue? Why didn't you sim the ******* playoffs?
I was just bored. It was the longest version of BBS. It was awsome, but after we got to 1 million posts I just felt I wanted to change some things. I always want to do more history, or make things more organized. Just wanted something new. I like the new lower ratings and I think I an keep them lower. I also like the lack of steals blocks and assists. Makes things more interesting and different.
As for simming the end of v4, well I just dont care enough to do it tbh. Id rather move forward. Onward and upward.
2. Ok, now that I got that out of my system, on to the new league; what changes, if any, do you have in mind for the new league? Is the lower ratings a trend that will be continued in draft classes?
I do like the lower ratings. I think I can make rookie classes either lower with higher potential or more BBS ready with lower potential. Gonna try and keep assists, steals, blocks, rebounds down. Gonna try and make sure the elite players are rare and the mid range guys are valuable. Who knows. SO hard to control TCs.
3. If you had to put 3 gms on the hot seat who would go there and why?
HF. Hes been horrible thus far. He keeps bitching and moaning instead of just doing work. Classic HF. Always someone elses fault. Just take some responsibility and man up.
Jordan. I love him to death and hes a great GM when active but hes M.I.A. thus far. He really needs to step it up.
Martinez. He doesnt really care. Its pretty obvious. He just doesnt ever really put effort into his team. hes more about trolling then GMing.
4. Which 3 gms contribute the most to the league and why?
Play. He just does so much for me and for the league. Always around. Bitches too much, but hey take the good with the bad.
DJ. People hate him but hes a solid member for me. Always does exactly what hes supposed to do. Very reliable. Love him.
Erbes. He just creates hate and we cant have BBS without hate. Thanks Erbes.
5. How do you want the gms address you? Spencer? Spence? mr stern? The big kahuna?
Like my dad says, call me whatever youd like just dont call me late to dinner.
6. Name three things that differentiate a good league from a bad one?
In my opinion there are 3 main components. A commish that sims consistently and doesnt have a team. I think those things are musts. A strong core of GMs, like about 15-20. They must be good GMs and they must post alot. Lastly some interesting rules. CY/PG rule/ whatever. just some rules that make the league more then just a default FBB league.
7. More annoying for a commish - dc fails or trade fails?
Trade fails. I hate going to put a trade through and then needing a cut. Or needing to add salary. For DCs I can always just push auto. No biggie there.
8. Are we going to have warrior bias in bbs5?
Probably not. Im gonna try and be more realistic and then add some new surprise type players. Although Monta ELlis and Steph Curry should be pretty solid players still.. wink wink.
9. What is you prediction for the conference finals?
I love BOS and DET out east. I really think DET has the outside shooting to take it unless DBW gets some backourt help.
In the West I think its more wide open. I love POR, PHX, MIN and SA. Shit even GST and SAC have decent teams. I think that Outlawz will probably add some more at some point and take the West.
10. Which gm were you most surprised to see join bbs5?
Probably Tiger. I asked him like 2 weeks earlier and he said he was too busy. I think he has an addictive personality so he couldnt say no to a restart.
11. Top 5 all time gms?
Silk. He was in v1. He was sick. Not sure he would transalte to this group of GMs though.
Reilly. Amazing GM. He was here v1 - v3. Put together some amazing teams.
Repole. Hes done a great job of ruining FBB for everyone. Thanks Nick.
Play. He had a great run in this last BBS. He usually does well in every version. He can get bored and lose focus though.
Mark. He just puts together sick teams. Doesnt rush to trade.
12. Who were your favorite players from bbs4?
I loved Bingo. I thought he was amazing. MJ wouldve been nice too. I also loved that overaged SG that NY had. Forget his name but he was awesome. Rickey Francis. Jon McGlockin. FUn time.
13. Top 3 current gms at drafting? Trading? Dcs?
I think DJ, Jah and Insane draft pretty well. DJ and Jah seem to go in a certain direction with picks. Insane just gets lucky IMO.
Skillz is the top trader. He overtrades soemtimes but he always seems to be ok. Outlawz is good too. He usually just saves up and goes big. He loves having multiple stars.
Repole is the best DC guy. He really uses his talent well. After him its a big drop off. I guess id go with Aar.
14. Who is the best poster? The worst?
I like Haberman alot. He posts some funny stuff. Sometimes his alter egos arent great though.
Svedda is the worst. Only because of his last stint here. I truly hope he can stick around here and be a valuable member.
15. Is rebuilding teams fun or a chore? There are constant claims that you get ripped off, how do you respond?
I like doing it, but Ive decided not to do it this version. I think its unfair to other Gms. Ill do my best to set a DC, maybe even tweak a DC after a GM is fired and then name a new GM ASAP. Another new facet of BBS!
