1. You are easily the best new addition we've made in years (and I'm talking real years). Where in the world did you come from? Give us your sim league background/experience.
Well I got into FBB sim leagues in like 07 I would like to say, I wasn't really a guy that was known around sim leagues, because most of the ones I joined back then were either really noobish and unactive or would die in like a week. So sim leagues were pretty much an off and on thing for me. I ran across this league like months ago and I always would pay attention waiting for an opening. Never really wanted to sign up to the wait list or anything because I'm not one to show activity without a team. I dont know I'm just weird in that aspect.
2. Where can we find more GMs like yourself? We seriously need to get new GMs into this league. Anyone you could recommend from other leagues?
This is my first sim league in over a year, all the guys I knew back then are either done with sim leagues or I dont know how to get into contact with them anymore. I dont think this would be the league for them either way, because most of those guys got into sim leagues at the same time as me, and were always pretty much noobs. I wish I could tell you where to find active guys, sadly I dont know any.
3. You started your stint off with a bang by raping Jeff in a deal for his lottery pick. It's not often we see a new guy get over on a vet so the move was impressive to say the least. Walk us through those talks.
Well, I wasn't getting many offers from anyone regarding Bosh or Francis at the time, the Toronto GM wanted Bosh, but not for nearly what I was going to get from Denver. So one day Jeff sends me a PM one day asking for Bosh, and I told him specifically that I liked Taj Gibson, Avery Bradley, and picks. He in turn gave me three options of either Gibson straight up, Bradley and his 12 1st, or 2 1st round picks. I wasn't really sold on the Gibson straight up deal, so it was really between the Bradley/12 or the two picks, and what made the difference was that I was going to get his pick last year and I really didn't want to give Rose another TC under his belt to change the value of those picks. Not to mention I figured I can get someone better than Bradley with 2 picks instead of him and a pick.
4. You drafted Kemba Walker with Jeff's lotto. You also selected Jonas V, Iman Shumpert, IT and MarShon Brooks this past draft. What do you think about your draft? Any TCs you were pleased/disappointed with? Who is surprising you with their play/who is worse than expected?
I really can't complain about my draft honestly, when you jump in a draft there is never really any room to complain. I didn't think I had a chance to jump, because the picks you usually see jump range from 4-7, and I was right on the outside of that. So I was pretty stoked that I jumped. What I didn't like was that the Denver pick lost the tie breaker in the Lotto and went from 10 to 12. As for TC, at first I was a little upset about Kemba trading offense for defense, seeing as that was the reason I drafted him. I also expected him to have a better TC overall. After seeing how he sims, I can deal with his TC, and of course Jonas had a major TC though he can still use work. By far the most dissapointing TC out of the 5 was Mashon Brooks, he left nothing to be optimistic about. Atleast the other 4 outside of IT did something to show me what they could be. Marshon just lost offense, and I kinda want to see how he sims, but I'm kinda liking Shumpert's D.
5. Washington is arguably the most troubled franchise this version of BBS. What do you plan on doing to ensure things turn around as soon as possible? Any specific style of team you plan on building for the future?
I'm more of a guy who builds on the go, of course there's a specific type of roster I'd like to build in my head, but so far all the guys I have are really not the guys I usually go after. Jonas was easy because I like to build around either a big man or a PG, so coming in when I had Butler as my leading scorer, I automatically knew this was going to be a different team than I'm used to. Also Kemba isn't normally the type of PG I look for in drafts either, but PG was one of my many needs in the draft and he fell to me. I usually prefer pass first PGs who can shoot rather than score first PGs.
6. Knicks/Rockets just swapped Yao and Dwight/Conley in a huge blockbuster. What are your feelings on the Knicks now that they have the best center in the league? Are they now the favorites over the Hawks in the East?
To be honest here, I like it, but at the same time I dont like it. For one we never got to see the full potential of what they had in the first place. When he had Dwight and Conley, he never ran a inside offense at all. Instead he chose balenced for the first few sims, and even chose to go outside before he even thought about inside. That kind of baffles my mind a bit, why wouldn't he go inside from the beginning? He doesn't really have anyone outside of Conley who can hit the 3 consistently, Lebron and Wade both will obviously do better in a Inside offense. So it really was no surprise to me he was losing at first. Now that he has Yao he immediately went to Inside which was smart, but really they should have been the favorites to win the East before the trade, Yao just makes it more obvious.
7. Tell us your early picks for a finals match up. Who wins that match up? Do you see any dark horse teams potentially stopping your match up from happening?
I want to say the Mavs/Knicks, given the right DCs and luck of the draw with injuries. These two teams on paper seem like they should be the two teams bound to run into each other in the finals. Despite Dallas' lack of a true starting wing, seems like they run Cunningham at the 3, and the rest is by committee. Who do I see winning that matchup? Upfront although the Knicks have Yao, Mavs hav an easy advantage there with their two best players, on the wings is no contest Knicks have that all the way. At PG I think Stephon would give Llull trouble with also makes that Yao trade a bit iffy, Llull was better coming off the bench for them. The Knicks have absolutely no depth right now, and that might hurt them this year. So I'm rolling with the Mavericks here.
8. Kyrie is starting to catch fire and will obviously win FBB's ROY award. Who do you feel is the 2nd best rookie right now? Other than Kyrie, who do you feel will be the best player from this draft?
The second best rookie right now as far as statistics go, is easily Greg Smith, alot of the rookies in this class need some more TCs in them before they can really be judged on their statistics. Kyrie, Greg and Kemba surprisingly seem to be ahead of the curve as far as producing right away goes. As far as the best player in the draft? I want to say it's gonna be between the first two picks of the draft. Kyrie is ahead right now, but Jonas has plenty of time to catch up. Reason I say it's between them is because C and PG are the two most important positions in FBB, and while Smith is a C I really don't feel confident in his growth as much as I do Kyrie and Jonas. Now I'm sure everyone can make a case for Kyrie, so I'm going to make the case for my guy Jonas. To start off, Jones is a pretty solid player already getting off to arguable the best TC out of all the rookies, remember Kyrie only went +1 if I remember correct, Jones went +4 and that was even after I pumped points into his Inside to make him a B+. That right there lead me to believe he was a high B from the start, and what I did pushed him to be mid to high B+. He improved in his weakest area to begin with, though the notes say specifically the problem was his Offensive boards, so I'm really not worried too much about that. Not to mention his notes also say he has potential to be the best player in this draft period, that's the reason I drafted him in the first place. From the way he sims, on the outside looking in he wouldn't seem like he does much but I think if I slowed the pace down he'd do alot better. I think it's just the wrong DC, because from the flashes he shows he get's to the line alot and he converts at a good clip for big men. Okay I'm done rambling lol
9. Being the new guy on the block, I'm sure you've had to engage in some aggravating trade talks where people try to rape you. Put those on blast. Any GMs that you feel are super annoying in general/to talk trade with?
Surprisingly I haven't gotten many rape offers if any at all, if there is anyone I'd point out it'd be skillz. I think he's known for bad offers though. Things started off after the draft, everyone here knows he's a knick fan. I didn't really find out until he started sending me a barrage of PMs claiming he wanted Shumpert that badly. Now me I actually like Shumpert, so I'm not just going to give him up for anything and the two guys I wanted were Blair/Bledsoe. Mind you this was before TC even occured, this was right after the draft. So I say those two are really the only two I wanted really, knowing that he probably wouldn't do that anyway. You know what he does? He tries selling me hard on Jarvis Varnado, and I'm like okay, no. Varnado is a one trick pony with no chance in the world of improving else where. Shumpert from the ratings seems like he can work on his offense a little bit, Varnado just seems like he is who he is. His notes even say that. I wont act like he offered me Varnado straight up though, he offered me 2 of his futures which I wasn't too interested in. He can't think I'm stupid to think the picks he offered me would be any good, his team is young and on the rise. So I said no, that wasn't even the worst part either. This continues, next he offers me Blair for Valencuines/Shumpert. What? I dont know if it's just me but he was definitely trying to rape me there, if he wasn't before he definitely just tossed that out as bait. First of all I think Valencuines has way more value than Blair has already coming into the league, people know he has potential now to be one of the best big man to come out the draft. Why would I add a solid player that fell in the draft, just for Blair. So that's that lol, other than that I really haven't ran into many rape offer, I think people got a sense of me not being vulnerable of that after the Nuggets trade. Something I wanted to make clear from the jump, I'm not going to get raped here at all, if there's one thing I can do, it's make trades. Free agency? That's another story lol.
10. I know we've yet to get any information on the upcoming draft, but assuming it will be a mirror of real life, which players are you looking forward to seeing/possibly drafting in the near future?
I really think this coming draft might be the most interesting draft in a while here. I know everyone is pumped to see Lillard, but I kinda want to pair the Brow and Jonas together, that may be interesting. I also get the feeling that the depth of the draft is much better top to bottom. A raw guy like Drummond may be the most interesting guy if made/groomed right. He could become easily the best player in the draft here and in real life. So watch out for him. Kidd-Ghilchrist gives me a Gerald Wallace feeling, so he'll be interesting to see. Possibly a better version of last years Khawi Leonard although he'll probably start off a little more raw with the potential to become a lot better. I could mention a lot more players but I would start rambling again.
11. ASL? For real though, I assume the majority of us have no clue who you are. Tell us a little about yourself. You don't have to get super personal. Age, location and favorite NBA team would suffice. Whatever you feel like mentioning, go for it.
Well to start, I'm a 22 year old from Boston, MA. My favorite team is the Celtics for sure, they make me rage a lot this season, but I know once we get to the playoffs, it's on. I listen to hip hop, not this mainstream crap that's on the radio. Fuck a chief keef. Moreso like Flatbush Zombies, Pro Era, TDE, more underground stuff basically. Although TDE is becoming more known, I was on them years ago before anyone really knew who they were. Lets see, football, Patriots going to the superbowl this year. Sorry Ray no fairy tail story ending for you. I believe they'll play the 49ers and Brady finally gets his 4th ring and solidifies himself as arguably the best QB to ever play the game. As Pats fans, we are spoiled for having him and Bill for all these years. That's about it I guess, my life in a paragraph basically that's what I'm pretty much all about.
Well I got into FBB sim leagues in like 07 I would like to say, I wasn't really a guy that was known around sim leagues, because most of the ones I joined back then were either really noobish and unactive or would die in like a week.
