2011 Draft Big Board
Top 20 prospects of 2011
Fuck you kid, fuck you.
Keep in mind, this is pre-notes (want to do it while I'm motivated), and is just a subjective ranking, not considering teams picking, aka not a mock draft. Even if you disagree with my rankings (inevitable), its at least useful to see 20 of the best prospects all on one post during draft time, even if you disagree with the order.
1. Kyrie Irving PG 74 180 19 Duke B- B+ B- C D+ A
Number one pick will be the easiest in the draft by far, as usual. Kyrie comes in looking like an absolute stud who will produce like his real life counterpart no problem. His handle is a B-, but with camps and presumably 90+ potential, we can probably safely assume that becomes an A- at least. Kyrie looks like a superstar in the making, and whoever gets first pick is going to be damn happy they did.
2. Kawhi Leonhard SF 79 227 20 San Diego State C+ B C A B- B
2nd pick is where things actually get dicey. D-Will is good enough to be considered, but I still can't believe how awesome Leonard looks. He has A defense - yes A defense right off the bat. The guy looks almost like a Shawn Marion clone who is going to contribute immediately. Even if his potential is only 75, maxing out his camps alone will make him a stud. I love Leonard, he might be early at 2, but I'm not so sure. I guess notes will help tell the story behind those awesome ratings.
3. Derrick Williams SF 80 248 20 Arizona B- B D+ C C A
I have a feeling D-Will isn't going to have a lot of fans, but the kid is going to flat out fill it up. I guess it is really going to depend how his that C is, and if he can overcome it an become an at least average defender. His handle is shit and I'm sure he'll turn it over a ton, but teams need elite scorers, and Williams certainly looks like one.
4. Jonas Valanciunas C 83 240 19 Lithuania B C- C- C+ C A
This may be early for Jonas, and maybe I'm a huge homer (not maybe.. definitely), but Jonas better be a stud! B inside is actually pretty sick though for a 19 year old big, and C- outside is nice too - seems like he is going to score pretty well pretty fast. His rebounding is shit for some reason, but being 7 foot he is going to grab boards regardless. He must have close to 100 potential, but just like real life, I would only look at Jonas if you are willing to put in work on a project, because that is definitely what he is.
5. Klay Thompson SG 79 206 21 Washington State C+ A- C C+ C- B
This kid is a shooting guard through and through. A- outside off the bat and C+ inside is very exciting, and C+ defense too. The B potential is a bit concerning, but you could be looking at B- A- B- after the first TC. This is a guy I think is worth taking a flyer on.
6. Enes Kanter C 83 259 19 Kentucky C+ D+ D- C+ B- A
I think things start to get very dicey after that top 5. Kanter is a huge project - in the same way that Favors is a project. With his ratings as they are, you can probably assume he has sky high potential. 6 may be a bit early, but he's at least going to be in the mix around here - notes will let us know a little bit I guess before making the plungle on a raw 19 year old such as this.
7. Iman Shumpert SG 77 222 20 Georgia Tech C+ C+ C+ A- D+ B
Iman is going to be a sick 5 tool player (is that a thing in basketball?). He does a tiny bit of everything, except for defense, which he does a shit load of. He is going to be able to start immediately for teams, and he is only 20 years old. His scouted potential is only a B, but you can be sure that some teams are licking their chops when they see these ratings,
8. Kemba Walker PG 73 172 21 Connecticut B- B- C+ C D+ B
Kemba is still a little rough around the edges considering he is 21 years old and the best player in college, but he looks to be a very solid offensive player. His B potential scares me a bit considering he has no ratings above a B-, but I trust Broph to make him similarly to his real life counterpart, meaning he should be a solid scorer, and not a gigantic turnover whore. Definitely needs camps put into him.
9. Bismack Biyombo PF 81 243 19 Congo C D D B+ C A
Bismack looks to be another project at 19 years of age, but the defensive potential is there. Shot blockers always seem to go early, so it wouldn't shock me if he went top 10, but it also wouldn't shock me if he fell much further. I'm sure that he has sky high potential and defensive anchor potential - but we will definitely want notes before making that decision.
10. Tristan Thompson PF 81 227 20 Texas C+ D+ D B C+ A
Hopefully no dumbass takes Tristan 4th in this draft like real life. Broph made his ratings perfectly - a solid big man role player with starting potential. Broph generously gave him A potential (hopefully matching his real), and we can probably assume he is a solid shot blocker. The C+ inside is a nice touch compared to Bismack's C, but he is a little undersized as a big, but playing the 4 you can live with it.
11. Chandler Parsons SF 82 221 22 Florida C+ B C+ B+ C B
Parsons looks sick, and could definitely go a lot earlier than I have him, actually he surely will... I don't know why I have him at 11... smh. He looks to help immediately, and unless someone is totally convinced of the upside of Tristan, Bismack, etc, I think we can safely assume Parsons to be a top 10 pick... definitely a mistake on my end here, but I'm already too far in to edit... sorry.
12. Nikola Vucevic C 83 260 20 USC C+ D+ D+ B- C+ B
20 year old big man with no glaring holes in his game, solid defensive game and an okay rebounder? Sounds like a late lottery pick to me. Maybe he will go a bit lower, but he just had a 29 board game in real life, so with that fresh in his mind, maybe there's something nice behind those ratings?
13. Brandon Knight PG 75 189 20 Kentucky C+ B C C D+ A
Knight looks like an actual scrub. Literally. He looks actually useless. He will still go lottery by virtue of his name, but damn. His scoring looks nice, but C handle is rough, the C defense is rough too, and his rebounding is average to below average the 1. I don't see what role he has right now, hopefully he has sky high potential. I just don't see the incentive to taking him in the high lottery, but surely someone will.
14. Donatas Motiejunas C 84 224 20 Lithuania C+ B C C C+ B
20 year old big man who can step outside and hit 3's, but doesn't like to play defense? Hmm, I can say I am definitely familiar with those. Donatas surely has a role in this league, but his B potential is a little bit scary considering how much work is going to need to be put in on him to make him a quality player. Worth a risk though midway through the draft.
15. Marcus Morris SF 80 230 21 Kansas B- B- C- C+ C B
Morris is a pretty solid scorer ratings wise, and an average defender out of college. He has solid size for the 3 and could wind up being a solid rotational player for any team looking for a 3.
16. Kenneth Faried PF 79 225 21 Morehead State C+ C- D+ C+ B+ A
This dude is a rebounding machine, but he probably isn't going to block a ton of shots, which sucks! All kidding aside, he may be a little low too, and may probably go in the lottery. Should be a solid 25 MPG big in this league.
17. MarShon Brooks SG 77 195 22 Providence B- B- C C D+ B
Brooks is pretty raw considering he is 22 years old coming into the league, and only has B potential. He could also go a bit higher, but he has some significant limitations, and may not get enough attention to improve to become a starter in this league. Also, D+ rebounding is annoying no matter the position you play.
18. Tobias Harris SF 80 223 18 Tennessee C+ C+ C C C+ C
18 years old! 18 year olds should always go top 20. That is literally my entire rational for having him in the top 20. Also those C+'s and C's aren't bad for an 18 year old.
19. Norris Cole PG 73 174 22 Cleveland State C+ C+ B- B- D C
I hate Norris Cole in real life because he is brutal. He actually is one of the worst PG's in the NBA, and don't try to tell me otherwise. He actually has pretty nice ratings, but the C potential pretty much shits on it. He's worth a look at this point at least though.
20. Shelvin Mack PG 74 205 22 Butler C C B- B C- C
I jokingly called Mack Rubio in that other thread, I don't remember Ricky's rookie ratings but they must have been close - not including potential. Could be a solid backup point though in the future if he isn't a turnover whore.
