Brand, JO, Marion, Pierce aren't superstar names but they performed like superstars in the pre. Hell looking at their #s Spence might have made them too good. Those guys are all legitimate pieces here. Ray doesn't board like those guys but he can score like a #1

8 to 1 in the lotto for Magic saved Celtics for him #2 in creation draft

a team led by Nash or Ray Allen won't win a championship when others teams are led by Kobe, Kg, Duncan... and they're both already developed players. Outside of the top 5, the only two players you could of built a legit contender with were Shaq and Iverson(iverson dropping to 11-ish is more surprising than where Shaq went). The reason Shaq went in the late teens is the same reason he wasn't drafted top 7, he's old. Nash can win a championship... so not sure I should read the rest of this

about half the league didn't bother trying to compete. Things could have been wide open for sure.

Jo and Brand put up Shaq #s with better FT% (worse FG% though)
more than enough studs to go around.

I wanted to compete but I wasn't up for trading at all. I was sick as shit. Glad I was able to get 8 future picks in the little time I had. Gives me something to work with.
