If you feel comfortable answering this, tell us about what you do outside the sim league world.
I am a teacher. I currently teach middle school social studies at an Alternative School. That is one reason why my activity can be up and down during the school year. During the summer I have more time.
You made a huge deal this offseason acquiring Anthony Davis and Shabazz Muhammed. Did you have a hard time getting Play to accept that deal? or was it an easy process?
I told play I was interested. He responded with who he liked. He sent an offer and I accepted it. He was the one that proposed the offer so accepting it was fairly easy.
After 20 days your team is 10-2, do you feel like you can win the championship with what you have? or are there still some needs you need to address?
I’m not a title team. I lack the star pg to really set me apart. Llull isn’t a bad starter, but he isn’t a great one either. I don’t think Logan is a starter on a title team either. I usually like to have a stud pg to help build around (ala Lowry) but Llull meets his purpose just fine. But his lack of truly play making ability (low ppg, bad %s) will keep me from making it far in the playoffs. I would like to add a stud pg, but the cost is likely too high. I can’t see myself trading 4 of my top 6 pieces just to fill that pg need.
What teams are you most nervous to matchup against come playoff time?
Bulls and Nets are easy choices. Both have top pgs who can destroy Llull. Bulls have Dakari to compete with our bigs and the Nets have Sapp who would destroy Malone. The Hornets can also be a dangerous team due to what Acy brings to the table. If they can stay healthy then him and Austin can be a beastly duo.
List the top 5 players on your team from most favorite to least favorite. Could help people in trade talks with you knowing who you value the most.
Anthony Davis- a bit of a do it all big. Beast rebounder and blocker who can score as well.
Shabazz Muhammed- Even though SF is a bit of a loaded position, he can light it up from anywhere.
Tegarey Barnes- His +6 tc has had him a team favorite. Love his blocking ability off the bench and if he continues to develop he could be a beast.
Alfonso Meanwell- I think he is in the Acy camp with his ratings. From first look he doesn’t look like a stud. But he is a top blocker and is strong as an ox. His fg% is amazing. His rebounding could be better, but his scoring and blocking helps offset it.
Ricardo Massenburg- Many people have asked for him but I am hesitant to trade him. His potential gets reset to 100 now. He has a +25 in ac left and a +6 in rcs left. If I had more time to right article she could be a top player already.
If you could make a deal for any player in the league right now, who would you go after and why?
Acy would likely be the popular choice, but with my current team set I would likely go for Derrick Rose. He is averaging over 30 ppg and my team weaknesses is obviously at the pg position. Acy would be a beast, but if I added a stud pg this team would be taken to a new level.
Skillz gave you a 6.5/10 in his latest article. Do you have anything to say about that?
It is what it is. New and skillz aren’t exactly the bffs of the sim league world. I didn’t win a title with that hawks team so people knock me down. People also say I didn’t build the team so I can see why they say I’m only a 6.5 out of ten. My success in bbs leagues have been up and down. Get CY’ed twice, win a title (still think people are bitter off of that title).
What was the biggest offseason move other than your own? Why do you say so?
I would say the Spurs/Rockets deal was fairly big. Harden gave the Spurs another 20 ppg scorer to pair with Crittes and Poppa. Harden is a great scorer who should make the Spurs better than they currently are. It was also the deal that helped get the Rockets Oladipo who is a decent do it all wing.
Which player(s) do you think have the worst contracts in this league?
I love him but Lowry’s is pretty bad. He is still producing at a high level which is nice, but he will be making $28 million in his last year, which crushes your chances of building a team. While Lowry can still produce, LeBron has shit the bed. He is making around $30 million and is barely averaging 20 ppg, and that is on horrible percentages. At least he is 35 and could retire any year now.
Of the newer GM's here, who has been the most impressive? Who has been the least impressive?
cheddar has come in and given a face to the Spurs. The trade for Harden shows he wants to put his touch to the team that many will say was built by the addition of Poppa and Crittes.
I see you've posted in the video games thread, which console do you own? Do you plan on buying one of the next gen consoles at the end of this year?
In terms of the newest gen consoles, I have a 360. I do own a NES, SNES, Playstation, Xbox, and Gameboy. I don’t play my 360 much anymore since most of the games are geared toward online and I just don’t see myself trying to run a cable from the modem to my 360. My newest game is at least 4 years old so that really dates it. I just don’t see myself spending $60 on a game.
I don’t see me buying a new console right away. I have a wedding to save up for and a $300-$400 system is not in that budget.
NBA Finals: Miami Heat or San Antonio Spurs? How many games?
I honestly don’t care. I would prefer that the Spurs win however my gut says that the Heat will win. Maybe it goes to 7 but Stern can let his baby lose.
