1) You're in your Contract Year and you don't have a ton of assets - What's the game plan going forward to survive?
- I disagree I have a ton of assests available, now whether or not people want to offer equal value for them is another story. I still have plenty of firsts available, I have the PHX 20 1st available which despite what Skillz may be blabbering about is still a pretty valuable pick unless he somehow rapes a bunch of GMs and gets some studs overnight it'll be at work in the 12-16 range next season.
I don't see how this team is bad right now
Favors/Oden/Kanter up front, Isiah Austin super scoring sub off the bench, Mayo and Irish in the backcourt. I have the blocks and rebounds up front and I have the scoring in Mayo and Austin. Defense is top notch my only concern is the turnovers between Irish and Mayo which I'm hoping can be kept down to a minium. I don't see anything wrong with this team, on paper we're a contender out West.
2) You just traded three Portland 1sts for Derrick Favors, who many feel is a bad contract, was nothing better available?
- Since when is a 15 11 2.5bpg a "bad contract" especially being only two years of length. If that's the case isn't Mason Smith considered a bad contract considering he hasn't done anything statistically the past three or so seasons? My core group is young enough to where trade a first this year, a first next year, and the year after shouldn't affect me much. This was a calculated risk. I'm still going to attempt to get Tony Parker from the Sonics, we've agreed to a deal but I'd much rather have Favors on my squad at this point and time.
3) You were the commissioner before John took over, how do you think he's done?
- He's done a solid job I mean the key's going to be if he can maintain this for the long haul. It's all peachy and wonderful at the start but when the same problems arise season after season i.e. messed up depth charts, messed up bids etc etc time consuming stuff that's where I hope he can maintain what he's been doing right now.
4) Do you regret the contract that you gave Enes Kanter?
- No why would I? He's improved every season in TC, and again this season when his rebounds went up yet again. So he doesn't get the blocks, but he's a terrific rebounder and a more than capable scorer. If preseason is any prescursor to Enes Kanter's capabilities he's going to improve offensively as well. I don't care what anyone says he is no detriment to my team and his contract is more than manageable. His pre-season numbers were 104 Enes Kanter C 13 30.1 15.2 10.8 1.1 0.7 0.5 2.1 .507 .789 .000, yeah I'll take that all day long.
5) Now that you've acquired Tony Parker, is the plan to keep Jacquez Irish or to trade him?
- Well I have quite acquired Tony Parker just yet, but yes the plan is to keep Jacquez Irish. Parker is more than likely to retire this season if not the next one and I'm going to need a PG for the future and I think Irish is that PG. With a couple of more ACs I think he can get there. It's unfortunate his TOs are still much higher than what I would like them to be but that's just something I'm going to have to deal with. Some of the best PGs in BBS average 2-3 TOPG and they make up for it without statiscial things. I like that his rebounding went up, it was a bit of concern that his rebounding was so low even for a PG.
6) Who do you feel are the three players in the league that have the most trade value?
- I don't know this is a tough question because it all depends on the team's status but I would have to say Quincy Acy, Marcus Smart and Cody Zeller for various reasons. I think Quincy Acy is the best player in BBS, I think Marcus Smart is the best young player/PG in the game, and I think Cody Zeller is the best big man in the game. Again though my top 3 is probably different than someone else's top 3 so it really doesn't matter.
7) With the Hornets re-tooling and adding Rose and Valanciunas, but losing their risky gamble on Kerem Kanter, are they still the favorites to win it all?
- Sure why not, they didn't lose out talent wise and until we get to the playoffs and are well into the regular season there can't be a favorite, especially since the reigning champion didn't completely rebuild. I think all the teams of last year are still in the mix Memphis, Nuggets,Raptors etc.
8) Other than the top-2 picks in this year's draft, who do you think had the best pick?
- I like Ronan robinson. His notes were "He has a great jumpshot, solid handles and is a good passer. Lightning quick, think of someone like TJ Ford, that goes along with his frame as well, very wiry frame, really no upper body strength to speak of. He has a nice floater though, so he isn't totally lost when he drives to the basket. Should get his fair share of steals. Top 5 pick for sure, worst case scenario is a solid starting PG for a number of years." Which basically screams stud. I think he'll be a top 5 PG in the future.
9) Who will represent the Western Conference in the Finals this year?
- The Portland Trailblazers because there isn't a team capable of stopping Favors / Kanter/ Austin/ Oden the best front court in the league. It's got blocks rebounds and scoring. Then in my backcourt I'm going to have Mayo / Irish and hopefully Tony Parker soon which will give me scoring defense and hopefully not to many turnovers. In all seriousness I think my team is really balanced on both ends and I should have no trouble being a top 5 seed in the playoffs especially out West.
10) Is there anyone in BBS that you absolutely despise or is most of your ribbing in good fun?
- Lol no I don't despise anyone I could really care less about something like Skillz going out of his way to talk crap about my team just because I wouldn't trade him two players he really wanted. It's like yeah bro you're really going to be the reason I don't make the playoffs. Yeah Greg Monroe is the twice the player Derrick Favors is except he has twice as worse stats than Favors ever did! Ridiculous really, he's going to be a borderline playoff team and he will be much worse next season. Seattle is going to have a nice lotto pick next year if I can get the Tony Parker trade to work.
11) If you get CY'd, is this it for you with BBS?
- I don't know maybe maybe not it's hard to say but I won't be CY'd so I don't think we need to worry about that to much. I joined IBB's FTW league but honestly it isn't very good the level of competition in that league is pretty horrendous even though I respect IBB for what he's done he's running a great league it's sad though that the talent level of the GMs is pretty.
12) Would you like to see Spencer return to BBS in some capacity?
- Of course maybe in a year or two when his kid has grown up a little I think BBS will still be around. If I ever finally get to move to San Diego maybe I can driver up to San Francisco and convince him to come back we'll see.
