1. Tell us how you got into sim leagues. How long have you been doing them? I've only seen you here that's why I ask.
I've been doing sim leagues on and off for quite some time now actually, I used to do madden leagues until I came across FBB like 4 or 5 years ago I think(whenever they really started to boom in popularity). From then I just jumped around league because there were alot that would be created and die within a week, or I'd get fired because I lost internet and couldn't do anything about it. This however is the longest run I've had in one sim league. That's really all there is to that story.
2. Before TC you decided to move JingJing Wang to SF, are you pleased with the results? Why?
I would say so, yes. Reason being is I couldn't imagine how many turnovers he'd be committing if he were a PG at this point. Not only that but the transition seemed to pay off quickly with the TC he had.Hopefully he just gets better from here on out, though. I don't think I'll be regretting that decision anytime soon, I needed a SF more than I needed a PG in the draft, and he just happens to play the position very well.
3. You're currently projected 3rd in the draft, Who do you hope to land in this draft? Who are your top 3 picks?
At this point I'm probably just positioning it just to trade it, but if I happen to keep it, I wouldn't mind having either Dom Poppa, Matthew Crittes, or Ronan Robinson. Those are the three I see going 1, 2, 3. Everything else seems like a toss up to me, some players could sneak into the top 3 but hold a higher risk than those three, and I dont like taking risk that high in the draft.
4. You have a nice young team, are you ready for your CY? What will you be looking for when that time comes?
Oh I think I'm prefectly prepared for my CY, hopefully when next season rolls around I'll be able to get a PG with some ball security, bvecause I dont like the turnovers this team produces. I would like to get the turnovers closer to a average of 10 topg. Hopefully I'm able to get some more defense in here too, but I think I'll be prepared when the time comes to accomplish that. I'll be going for the ship this time around, I wont be settling for just making my CY.
5. We just passed all star weekend. Who is your mid season MVP, ROTY, and DPOTY? Also who is this seasons GMOTY?
I'll start with MVP, for MVP I'll go with Quincy Acy, the hornets have a major duo in him and LMA. That's going to be hard for anyone to touch come playoff time. You could make the argument that LMA and Acy are on the same level talent wise, but those two are easily two of the best studs in the league. As for ROTY, I'll go with Trey Burke. Even though I could make a solid case for my guy Wang, I think Skills really got lucky with his signing of Burke in the off-season. I wish I had an extra roster spot during free agency so I could have thrown in a MLE bid for that guy. DPOTY is hard to decide, but I'll go with Bynum. If any team is going to stop the Hornets, it'll be the Bulls, not just because they have Bynum, but they also have Dakari who is pulling his own weight down there too. Bynum is a big reason for that teams success though. GMOTY, well I dont know about this one, I haven't been really seeing any big deals go down this season. You'll have to give me a pass on that one.
6. What was the biggest trade of the season? Why do you think so?
I think the Mavericks/Hawks deal was probably the biggest deal this season. Reason being, I think it single handily saved Greg from his CY. Even though he really didn't have to do much to make his CY in the West, I didn't really think his team was looking too good before he made the deal. Lowry completely turned his team around and made it better. Still if I were him I'd make moves toward the ship, he's pretty safe now in the west though.
7. Minnesota is the only CY team that looks like they could be in trouble. They are 3.5 games behind 8th seed, do you see them making playoffs or will we be looking for a new GM this offseason?
Speaking of CY teams, I'll tell you who's not GMOTY. I mean seriously, is mike really trying? How many teams has he actually PMed to talk trade with this season? I think we may just be looking for a new Wolves GM this offseason, he took way too long to strike a deal, and the deal he struck was for Ben Gordon. He needs more help than that. When you think about it, he's already played more games than the team in 8th place, and has 6 more loses. So really he's 5 full games out of the playoffs, and the last sim wasn't nessicarily his teams best sim of the year. Took this long and still has to find a DC that works, bye mike.
8. Can anyone stop the Hornets in the playoffs? Who do you think are their biggest competition come playoff time?
As I mentioned earlier, if all goes accordingly, the Hornets have the best opportunity to win, but their best challenge is Chicago. Reason being is the Bulls have advantage on the boards. Where the bulls struggle however is on the wings. Wiggins is nice and all but he's hardly going to stand a chance against Acy if the match-up came down to it. Acy would eat him for lunch, and that's why I dont see anyone stopping the Hornets. Definitely not someone is the weak ass west.
9. Do you have any difficulties dealing here? Who are the easiest/hardest GM's to deal with?
I don't think I have any difficulty dealing with anyone here, honestly. If anything I'm one of the more difficult GMs to deal with, because I find myself talking myself out of a lot of deals rather than actually negotiating and saying what I want. If a deal isn't close to being what I want, I have a tendency not to return an offer, because I think we'd be too far apart either way in value. I would give an example of such, but I dont want to reveal any trade talks.
10. What are your thoughts on John taking over creating the draft files from now on? What suggestions do you have for him?
Well, quite simple really. Make more bigs, freaking Spencer and his raw bigs. I hated the last few drafts big man wise. I'm fully loaded with wing players, and I need some big men to help my big rotation out, because that's what's really lacking for me. Hopefully John does a good job of balancing the positions better than Spencer did. I dont like drafts where it's one position heavy, and everything else is just a gamble. That's how I felt Spencer did with the past 2 drafts.
11. I just wanna know your thoughts on my team. What do you think my teams biggest weakness is? Do you think Aaron Harrison and Evan Montgomery have bright futures here?
Well as far as your team goes, I still hate Jonas. I'm glad he's doing terrible this season. Aside from that though, I think you're problem is depth. Not only that, but I don't think your bigs play well off your guards. Doesn't seem like a outside offense fits either one of them, with Faried having D+ outside and Jonas having C-. I think that may be the real reason behind why their percentages are down this year. As for Harrison, and Montgomery, I'm sure Harrison has a bright future. I'm not too sure about Montgomery though, it's too early for me to tell, and he doesn't get a lot of minutes to determine whether he'll be consistent or not.
12. Do you think FBB3 will be successful like this FBB?
No, I think just the general appeal of text based sim leagues are dying out. The prime of them is long gone, and there's just not that many people who pay attention to FBB anymore. When the sim leagues really started to explode was when new people were discovering the game, I don't think many people are really looking for games like this anymore.
13. What are your predictions for the rest of the NBA playoffs?
Hopefully the Heat get knocked off, but I don't see it happening. I want to see the Warriors move on, just because Curry has been the most exciting player to watch this post season. Durant without Westbrook pretty much killed OKC's chances to win anything, and really opened the door for the old man lead, Spurs. Imagine Timmy going out a champion? That'd be great for the NBA. I just dont think it'll happen, but I do think they are Miami's scariest match-up. If the Pacers keep playing well, they should have no trouble with the Knicks. It's just a bad match up overall for the Knicks. If you think about last year Indiana was 1 game away from knocking Miami out, and while we all have our hopes? I just don't see anyone knocking them off this year. Ring #2 for Lebron.
