All Atlantic Team
1st Team Center
Yao Ming, New York Knicks
There are a lot of good centers in the Atlantic Division, but you still have to put Yao at the top of the list as he is probably still the best big man in the league. He averaged almost one rpg more than everyone else last year and also blocks 3-4 shots a game. Yao is a 3rd option behind Bron and Wade so his scoring could be a lot higher but 20-22 ppg out of your third option is about all you can ask for. Even though he’s getting up there in age and expires this year he is still the best.
2nd team Center
Tyson Chandler, New Jersey Nets
Chandler of the Nets just edges out Drummond and Macvan. Chandler is still a rebounding and defensive stud that any team would love to have. But his age and contract really hurts his trade value. That doesn’t take away from his greatness though. He should avg. 4 bpg and 12+ rpg again this year. Can score a little too.
Honorable Mentions: Andre Drummond, Milan Macvan, Anderson Varejao, Eddy Curry, Derrick Favors. Every team in the Atlantic has a nice center.
1st Team Power Forward
David Lee, Boston Celtics
Lee has been a monster in Boston ever since they raped the Kings for him. Coming off a 25 and 13 season last year the Celtics expect the same from Lee as they feel confident they can now go on a title run with PG Chris Paul. If Lee’s shot blocking and post defense weren’t so bad the rest of the league would be in trouble. That is this guys only downfall. I think a shot blocking and rebounding specialist would be perfect next to him.
2nd Team Power Forward
Kenneth Faried, Orlando Magic
Few other guys could have went here, but none of them are really better than Faried. After Lee the PF group in the Atlantic drops off. But I am a big fan of Faried which is why I put him here. He is a stud rebounder and defender.11.9 rpg, 1.4 spg, 2.9 bpg last year. And he should only get better.
Honorable Mentions: Jonas Valanciunas, Amare Stoudemire
1st Team Small Forward
LeBron James, New York Knicks
Yea obvious choice here, Lebron might be the best player in the league. Despite the astounding numbers and having two other top 10 players on his team, the King has yet to deliver a ring to New York. Rumors are the Knicks could be tearing it down as soon as this season. They are probably just better retooling instead of rebuilding at this point, because no way to get fair value for Bron, Wade and Yao.
2nd Team Small Forward
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Boston Celtics
MKG is a great guy to have on your 2nd team lol. MKG should make his way into the top 5 conversation if not higher if the Celtics keep him as a 1st option and he keeps putting up 27-28 ppg. Got a great all around game and still young enough to where he could improve. Though I don’t see how he can get much better lol.
Honorable Mentions: Alando Tucker, Dasean Butler
1st Team Shooting Guard
Dwyane Wade, New York Knicks
This is the Knicks 3rd player appearing on the 1st tam in the Atlantic Division. Wade is basically the SG version of LeBron. He puts up basically the same numbers just a little older and has an extra year on his contract. Meh I see why andy is bored the Knicks definitely should make a 2 for 1 trade with Yao, Bron or Wade. It can’t be that hard you just have to make the offers yourself.
2nd Team Shooting Guard
James Harden, Orlando Magic
Harden is quickly becoming one of the best scorers in the league. He put up 29.3 ppg last year albeit in only 47 games, that is still impressive. He can score inside, from midrange and knock down 3s at a high rate. Plays good defense and rebounds really well for a SG too, but his big problem is his turnovers. If he didn’t turn it over he would be perfect.
Honorable Mentions: Ben Gordon
1st Team Point Guard
Deron Williams, Orlando Magic
Ill give Deron the slight edge over CP3, though its very close. They are basically the same player, but Deron has outperformed CP3 over the last 3 seasons and on better teams. Deron is your ideal point really. Can score inside, great jump shot, and a smart 3 point shooter. Always near the top of the league in assists and under 2 tpg and is a good defensive/rebounding PG as well.
2nd Team Point Guard
Chris Paul, Boston Celtics
As I said above, Paul could have been first team as he and Deron are so similar. CP3 has come under fire from a few of his past GMs for not being selfish enough, which is a good thing for the Celtics since they have Lee, MKG and Curry to handle the scoring load they don’t really need Paul to be an option. They will take the great assist/to ratio and great defense.
Honorable Mentions: Damian Lillard, Mike Conley
